LOL...SMH. American Apparel has always had a reputation surrounding it of being "supposedly" high end shiz with a wearable feel and lackluster, self-important employees.... Dude, keep calm and try to deal. LOL This location is no exception. Its boughie, and snotty and stuck on itself. The cashiers, not sales associates (and I say cashiers because they don't leave that damn thing to help ANYONE) are slow responding, probably snapchatting their obvious and in-your-face boredom to their followers, and oblivious to the need to be accommodating. LOL I love it. It's so lame it's adorable in its trying too hard. You dont understand. Its TOO GOOD for you. Thats why a pair of spandex hotpants are $75 and would look great with that $37 pair of socks and $91 plain white T. DUHHH. It has an image to uphold, and I'm assuming that's why the ridiculous prices are justified? Hell IDK. :-D *shrug* The store is clean, the dresses are cute and skaannnnnky/ classy and even though I could live without the staffs sh*tty demeanor, Im perfectly capable of making my selections without them. Meh...it is what it is. 3/5 stars for making you feel bad and loving it. HAHA.

I have shopped at AA for years and been to locations all over the country. I never write bad reviews, but managements needs to know. I visited this location today in silver spring and was a terrible experience. There were 2 girls working and they were the most unhelpful retail staff I have ever seen. I couldn't get help if I tried. Did I mention I was the only shopper in the store? I was there for at least an hour. They were both terribly rude and inconvenienced by my presence. I would shop elsewhere. It left such a bad taste in my mouth.

Really disappointed by the customer service here. Stopped by this store because they said they had an item in stock. Disappointed to find that the inventory wasn't listed correctly and they didn't have the item. No big deal - I also wanted to return an item that I purchased online... The lady told me that she could only offer me store credit. I asked her if that was because I bought it online/if I mailed it back if I could get a full refund. After asking the same question in several ways I got the same answer - they ONLY offer Store Credit. I couldn't find their return policy on my receipt and the register didn't have their return policies listed anywhere in sight, so I took her word for it. Got home to find if I HAD mailed it back I could have had a full refund, which was my preference. How can an employee not even know the return policy??

First off there expensive really. Second they never have any sizes that fit me. An third no convent parking. Besides these thing I love the fashion styles. The colors an fabric material is light an thin. My daughters friends shop there an lately she's been asking to go but it's just she's getting a little to thick for the styles they have. Great service an the young woman was a great help.

FYI - Despite what they tell you, you cannot use your Groupon in both places and i lost out on $35 because of this store. Really disappointed with the quality of employees in all the American Apparel locations in Metro DC.

Same store as Westfield Montgomery Mall. The clothes appear as if they are the "high end" of OLD NAVY retailers. I never see any sales here. If you want a simple, PLAIN shirt then this is definitely the spot for you. If you're like me and like sales or at least discounts, then this place isn't for you.

This is probably one of my LEAST favorite locations. It's the closest to me - which is a bummer because I find myself coming to this location on a whim. The selection is good. It's pretty big and spacious. While I find that most of their items are not well made, and overpriced - there are a few items that I end up getting. I love the basic scarves, tees and dog clothes. They have super cute dog clothes. The customer service here is really bad. Everyone is SUPER young and probably in high school, so they are not professional nor do they know how to speak to a customer. They are too busy chatting about their personal lives and not being helpful. Otherwise, this store would have potential to be a decent store.

I am officially hooked on AA, and I love this particular location. It has a great selection, and the staff are very helpful. I'm surprised to hear the negative comments about the staff -- I've never walked in without someone asking me if I need help, and they're always polite. I believe this is also the largest AA store in the DC metro area, although I haven't visited all of the other locations. It's got a good range of stuff - including funky hipster gear that I (as a relatively straight-laced 30-something) wouldn't even attempt to wear -- thong bodysuits, hot-pink legwarmers, shiny disco pants, etc. But look a little past that and you'll find AA's awesome basic apparel -- t-shirts, hoodies, socks, briefs, slacks, sweaters, etc., in pretty much every imaginable color. And best of all, it's all made in the USA. AA is pretty much all that's left of the American garment industry, so if you really want to support American manufacturing, bypass the nearby New York & Company and shop here instead. (P.S. - one thing to be aware of is the strict return policy - they only offer exchanges or store credit on select items for a pretty limited time. So try on before you buy!)

By far the best staff when we went this weekend. So unusual for this chain, where the workers are generally rude and unhelpful. We bought some fantastic things and the people working could not have been more lively or friendly. We'll be driving out of our way for this huge, well stocked location again.

Now why you gotta go and do that, American Apparel? Cotton tank tops and leggings got me dropping dollars. Body suits, rompers, lacey gear that I have no idea what to do with has me at their beck and call. But what justifies the prices? I have no idea, but a sucker I am. This store location is a bit awkward for parking. There are meters out front on the traffic heavy Colesville Rd and there is a public parking garage just around the corner. This location is pretty spacious but most of the staff is very young, possibly even still in high school so it can be a little hit or miss with professionalism. All I know is that I always leave here spending more than I plan with very little to show for it. And yet, I keep coming back...

I dont like this store despite the fact that its HUGE. Bigger than the one in Cambridge, the ones on Newbury (in Boston) and the one in Penn Quarter or whatever that neighborhood is. They never have what I want. And the staff here have such an attitude. I'm sorry to bother your yappy hour, but do you have this in a particular colour....? More than half of pup's wardrobe is from AA yet this location has absolutely NO dog stuff. A plethora of stuff for the little ones at prices for the big ones, but nothing for pups.

American Apparel is my favorite clothing store in the area. The clothes are comfortable and durable, making its slightly higher prices well worth it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The store is in prime location, perfect for stopping by while spending a night hanging out in the downtown area. I hope that as Silver Spring continues the grow, more stores like AA will come to the area.

I like AA for some things. No the quality isn't perfect...but it's not too bad either. (I have learned to hang dry stuff from here). Their cotton sweatshirts and tees are the softest I have felt almost anywhere...very comfortable. It is a little strange that they sell the exact same stuff all the time and will probably never have to change their stock. But that is a good thing too...their stuff doesn't go out of style!
