I was here before and it was so wonderful that I never forgot that. It was during the winter and I was sitting outside by the fire pits where they had tables and chairs and I was smoking a cigar and you would hear the clippity clop clippity clop of a horse and buggy as it was passing by on that snowy evening. Now to the present..The place is still a beautiful colonial hotel. The attendants provided great service. The room was clean and they provided water, snacks coffee all for no charge. The bed was comfortable.I went downstairs to go to the tavern. The restaurant was full and the Tavern was empty. The service was splendid. I couldn't ask for a better server. I was confused about what to get and she made an excellent suggestion. It was very good. I ordered the pork spaetzle. I think that's what it's called. I also ordered Terrapin soup. It was the best. And I had a Balvenie doublewood (I think it was a 14-year). With tax and a generous tip for great service that comes to $85 for one person. Here's why I was disappointed in my visit.During the weekdays the restaurant does not serve breakfast. That bummed me out. Also, late at night I wanted to enjoy a very nice Cuban cigar outside by the fire pit sitting at a table along the street. The tables were closed down and there were no fire pits outside. That was a disappointment. One of the reasons I came here was because I wanted to get away, be by myself, and chill out in a peaceful, colonial atmosphere, where I could sit outside with a fine imported cigar, a top end spirit, and mellow out with the cook breeze clearing out my mind of all worries and stress. This is why I visited this place in the past and came back. This place is only 30 miles away from my home, but it's 200 years away (in the past) and feels like I'm hundreds of miles away in distance. But as I said the tables were closed down the fire pits were not there and it just ruined the atmosphere, and the experience for me of the pleasure of enjoying myself outside with a cigar, a scotch, a cool breeze on the brick patio of a colonial hotel, alongside a cobblestone street, while enjoying the starry sky above.Rooms: The room was not large but not small but it was really enough. There were no clauses but there were ample drawers for storage. The best was very clean and they provided all the best supplies that you need. That's the bed was large it was very comfortable. They provided a coffee maker coffee water different kinds of snacks and Life Water (two bottles). The great thing about this hotel besides a couple student streets in the outdoor patio along the brookside Walk was that it was fairly close and walkable to the main street very you have eating places, pubs, taverns gift shops and etc.At this time of the year there aren't too many places that have food and drink available at night but there were a few places however I cannot comment on them because I did not experience them because this place has one of the best restaurants in town. And that is where I ate. As I said I had excellence service, excellent food. The Terrapin soup delicious the main course was exquisite, any bar was comfortable with an abundance of high in spirits. Hover, it is not one of those talkative searchable wars. It's one of those bars where you would sit down with your head in your hands over your drink and just contemplate.Walkability: As I just said the place is closer to the main street it has pubs taverns dining places shops all with no walking distanceFood & drinks: Again, as a previous previously stated I did not try the food and drinks anywhere else because this hotel has one of the best, highest rated restaurants in town. The atmosphere is wonderful, The service is great The food is exquisite, so there was no need to go anywhere else.

I'd love to see more furniture in the rooms, not dressers or desk or anything. But the room was very nice. The staff was wonderful. And the place is beautiful, clean and the sweetest town to wander around. Here for a wedding, and it's an awesome place to have everyone all together.Food & drinks: So many restaurants, bars, coffee, and more.

Alright, After being wowed dining here for lunch I told myself I would try their hotel. Stayed here for 3 nights. Room was adequate and clean. However, the bathrooms are super small. I had to step out of the bathroom to dry myself off.Day 3, I come back to to the room, go to the bathroom and find an unscrewed cleaning solution bottle sitting on the toilet. Mistakes happen. It's fine. Go to check out and point out what I found but instead of an apology, they tell me that house keeping will be notified. Unless, all departments are independent of each other, this is not the response that the front desk should say. I just left. Many of the patrons step outside in the hallway to talk on the phone, I guess for privacy. Guess what, walls are very thin and you can hear everything.Location is great cause it's in the heart of a small town and it would be nice in better weather. 28 degree weather, not so much. The hotel has character. It's pleasant, clean and attractive. Everything you would expect from architecture from 1800s.I may stay here again when the weather 8s nicer, but it's not because of the lodging. It's the proximity to everything.Again, the bar is well stocked and even got one of my favorite bourbon, Eagle Rare.

My review of Service at the Tidewater Inn is solely directed at the new Operation Manager at the Front Desk on Saturday on 2/3/2024 at 1445HRS. This person was anything but in the spirit of “The Innkeeper” dating back 1000’s of years to the birth of Jesus. His spirit was in keeping of what he would not due for a guest. For 13 years & averaging 3-4X per week when I’m not in Fl or DC, my travel have taken me through the gorgeous, pleasant, and friendly Front Doors of The Tidewater Hotel.Tidewater Management should recognize Carla, Yosher, and Sebastian for their can do & friendly spirit in helping me return a 2000.00 electronic device to a guest due to arrive at 1700HRS. These 3 employees embrace the true spirit of “The Inkeeper”.Respectfully,Capt JBFood & drinks: Outstanding chow especially for a US Marine with service in 5 decades. Best hotel on the Eastern Shore.

What a wonderful small historic town and Inn. We had our daughter's micro wedding (19 people) at the Tidewater House and the reception in the Tidewater Carriage House. Michelle from the Inn, did a wonderful job as a wedding planner guiding us through the entire event, accommodating all of our needs along the way. She was flexible and gracious. The food at the reception was 5 star. We had the filet mignon, salmon and the vegetarian ravioli. They took our small wedding and made it into an elegant affair. Most venues just put a small wedding or event in a conference room and say that they have party space, but Tidewater Inn has a beautiful space that makes you feel special. There is nothing we would change. All of the guests stayed in the Tidewater House and Monica the inn keeper couldn't have been more sweet and helpful in making that stay even more special. The pictures on the website do not do the Tidewater House guest suites justice. They are huge and beautifully appointed. The common areas were so lovely and enjoyed by the guests. There are two beautiful bathrooms in the Carriage House for the reception guests. The hotel and event staff were all so great. The rooms in the Inn were small but beautifully refurbished and the overall Inn is beautiful and has plenty of space to gather with friends. Don't hesitate to book a room or event at the Tidewater Inn or House.

The front desk is phenomenal. The restaurant is very shady. I felt you were stereotyped because we were a biracial couple. Every time we went to the restaurant we were given specific seats and never a choice that we suggest because they claim the seat is reserved, yet there would be no names on them, as if we were ruining the property value by sitting in the open. They would repeat to us every morning that it is a buffet only yet we would see other people order off the menu. The appetizers were not consistent, the food was not consistent and we stayed for 3 days. The bathroom doors are horrible they are swinging sliding doors, they do not have a seal there is no privacy and there is stained glass, you can see someone sending you on a toilet, you absolutely no privacy. I've never seen anything like that in my life, the bathroom is the most private place ever, how could you not have actual doors in the bathroom? Again the front desk is phenomenal, but I am not happy with the upgrade of the rooms and Hunter's tavern turned us completely off with there bias the attitude. This was our second year coming. Next we will stay in St Michael's. I was not very happy with the service this time, last year I was pleased but this year there is a whole new staff and it is very displeasing.

Three girlfriends on a getaway to celebrate the season. I could not have been more pleased. The hotel was beautifully decorated with a giant tree and a wood burning fireplace. From the time of our checkin to our departure the service was exceptional; friendly and accomodating. Our Family Suite had two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a living room at the front. Only disappointment was the.fireplace was in disrepair. At $360/night, everything should work. While we never made it to Hunters Tavern, the onsite restaurant, we did order breakfast to go and it was marvelous. I highly recommend the deep diah quiche! Special thanks to Robin, the hostess who went above and beyond to get us coffee in the suite. No roomservice was a suprise but all else.was just what the Dr. orderered. This is now an annual tradition.Nearby activities: Excellent restaurants and shopping all in walking distance. If you like consignment shopping Frugalicious is a MUST!!

Got to stay in The Tidewater House, sister to The Tidewater Inn for the first time. What an incredible experience. Beautiful rooms, super comfortable beds, fire pit ambiance in the evenings. And the Innkeeper Monica was the BEST!

Tidewater House was incredible! We were invited to a wedding in October, but when my husband called in July to make a reservation for a room there was nothing available in the main hotel. However the Tidewater House was open. We had never done a B&B experience and weren't sure what to expect. Even before we arrived we were treated with great service. Monica called to confirm our arrival time to ensure she was able to greet us. Once we arrived, we were greeted by Monica who showed us the in's and out's of the Tidewater House, gave us the how-to's of getting in and offered some lovely options for things to do. We booked the French Suite, and it was PERFECT! The room was stunning and luxurious, we were given champagne to enjoy while we settled in and get ready for the wedding. Just down the street we were able to enjoy a stunning wedding, wonderful food, and picture perfect backdrop. Monica truly set us up for a wonderful stay and we will certainly be back to enjoy the french room. Having stayed at the main hotel before we knew it was wonderful but after this stay, we have been raving about the experience we just had.

We wanted a special place to celebrate our 10th Anniversary and thought the Tidewater would be perfect. We were wrong. We booked the Fall In Love package, which included champagne and oysters. The champagne was served poorly and it wasn't chilled, the oysters were ok. The restaurant was again ok. We waited an extremely long time between receiving our oysters and starter and our main courses, we had turtle soup for a starter. Turltle soup was delicious. The steaks were cooked nicely, the cuts of steak were average, but a little tough. The room was very basic, the bathroom and shower very small. The spa was closed when were here. Disappointing because we were wanting the couple massage. I struggle to find the luxury that we were expecting. We love dogs, but not in a "luxury" hotel. The small dog did not stop barking. There is nothing in the area open past 5pm aside from a couple eateries. Although the location is beautiful, there is nothing to do. The courtyard was being used for a wedding rehearsal so we couldn't even enjoy that part of the venue. Overall we were not impressed. I will say the service staff were friendly. There were no valets or staff to help with your luggage. Definitely not the luxury experience we thought we were goung to receive.
