My wife and I bought our boat about a year ago and contracted Quality Signs and Engraving to design and make a vinyl name for it. They did the job and charged us $375. However, when they tried to apply the name, they found the fiberglass too oxidized for it to stick. Despite my attempts to clean it, it still didn't work. They told me I'd need to detail and buffer the boat to remove the oxidation.
Before I could do that, the boat developed mechanical issues and spent about 10 months at the mechanic’s, which is another long story. Throughout those months, I called the sign shop multiple times to ensure they still had the vinyl name and could apply it once my boat was back. They never mentioned an expiration date, which would have prompted me to rush the process.
When I finally got the boat back a few weeks ago, I called the sign shop immediately. They informed me they had thrown out the vinyl name I'd paid $375 for without notifying me. To replace it, they said it would cost $225. Reluctantly, I agreed.
I detailed the spot on the hull where we wanted the name and confirmed the location with the office staff. We had two choices: an upper area and a lower area. We chose the latter.
Today, the technician applied the name, but he placed it in the upper location, which I hadn’t detailed or de-oxidized. Despite this, the vinyl stuck. Now, I'm wondering if I'm wrong to be upset. After all this hassle, the name stuck anyway, yet they still charged me an extra $225. Even though the name is in the wrong spot, I'm leaving it, but I feel slighted by the entire situation. EDIT: They did offer to remove the name and put it in the originally selected location.

Quality Signs does it again. This is the second time I have used this business for my boat. I needed the pin stripe replaced and they did a great job again.
