I was a Howard Bank business checking customer for years, then transitioned to First National when they bought Howard Bank. There have been issues since they took over (online banking log-in didn't work for 6 days after the transition; they have an annoying BillPay calendar that lets me select a day for payment then rejects that day as being too soon--so why have it available in the first place?). A recent occurrence is the last straw. My February 2024 statement shows a unspecified $12.00 "service charge." After two phone calls to the Ellicott City branch (did not receive a call back from the first representative) it was explained that the "service charge" was for using mobile deposit. What? I've been using mobile deposit since before First National took over in 2022 and this is the first time a service charge has appeared. There was no notice about this new charge. So now I have to drive to the branch to make a deposit in person to avoid a service charge. OK, so we all did that for years before the convenience of mobile banking, so it's not the end of the world. It is, however, the end of the line for me with First National. There are other banks out there who don't charge for what is by now, a standard service and not just a convenience.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an incident that occurred at your First national Bank branch (Ellicott City) on 01-16-2024 at approximately 4:05 PM.On this particular occasion, I visited the branch within the official business hours with the intention of making a deposit. Despite being well within the operating hours, I was surprised and dismayed when the branch staff refused to accept my deposit.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an incident that occurred on [01/16/2024] at approximately 4:15 PM at your First National Bank ,Ellicott City branch.I visited the branch with the intention of making a deposit, and unfortunately, the bank teller on duty, refused to accept the deposit, citing the time as the reason. I understand that banks have operating hours, but considering the proximity to the closing time, I believe there was sufficient time to process the transaction. This incident has caused inconvenience and raises concerns about the service provided. I request a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate action to ensure such incidents are avoided in the future.Details of the incident:- Date: 01/16/2024- Time: Approximately 4:15 PM- Teller's Name: All Tellers- Nature of Transaction: DepositI appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Please keep me informed of the steps taken to address this issue.Thank you for your cooperation.Sincerely,

The transition from Howard Bank to FNB has been horrific. Stopped in the branch on Monday because ATM card and online banking were not working. Branch was packed with other customers with issues. Branch staff was hustling which was great. But problems still exist and are not solved. Spent 38 minutes on hold with their 800 numbers and transferred to 2 different people and now have been waiting all day for a third to call me to resolve the problems. Absolute disaster.

This branch is SO SLOW! Just sat in the drive thru for 10 minutes just to drop a deposit! Not the first time this has happened here. Always so so slow!!! Will stick with the Columbia branch from now on.

I have been banking with Howard Bank for 3 years and their customer service is exceptional. Their team made the PPP Loan application process extremely easy and loans for my companies were funded within days. I definitely prefer the more personalized experience I received from this community bank over the big guys. Highly recommend for business banking.

After a horrendous experience trying to get a PPP loan for our business with Bank of America (our bank for 16 plus years), we reached out to LeNora and Howard Bank. She was so understanding and responsive. She made the loan process seamless and we were approved for the loan within 5 days. Howard Bank has taken the lead to make sure the Loan Forgiveness process is easier for the customer.Howard Bank has all the products we thought were only possible with a big bank. But unlike Bank of American we can call at any time and speak to a friendly voice. We can put a name to a face as opposed to relying on someone different by phone every time to give us a nonspecific, generic, and negative response. We have a great working relationship with LeNora and Howard Bank Centennial Place. I was so pleased; I transferred my personal account as well.

One of the best business decisions our company ever made was switching over to Howard Bank about five years ago. From day one, the support and customer service at Howard Bank has been second to none. Most recently, while the global pandemic has been extremely tough on all businesses, the Team at Howard Bank has stepped up in a huge way! Working with Wendy Krouse during our PPP Loan Process, was truly a blessing. Wendy helped our company navigate through the application and entire process quickly and accurately. Thanks to Wendy's quick e-mail replies on weekends and after hours, we were able to submit our application on-time and received our PPP Loan Funding quicker than we expected. We highly recommend Howard Bank for any small business. Working with a local community bank, compared to the larger national banks, is 100% the way to go! BIG THANKS to the entire Howard Bank Team!

Wendy Krouse at Howard Bank worked tireless for me and many other clients to ensure our businesses stayed operational during the economic turmoil caused by the pandemic. With patience and persistence, Wendy and Howard Bank navigated the evolving federal regulations, provided counseling and reassurance, and ultimately got us funding to help us avoid difficult personnel decisions. For those who struggle to understand why you choose a community bank over a larger institution, please remember: it is easy for banks to support you when times are good, but Wendy and Howard Bank provided support during bad times when the support was needed most. Howard Bank truly cares about us.

Howard Bank EC is my 'Friendly Neighborhood Bank'. Banks have rules. We all know that, but because my branch knows me, they were able to help me out of a real jam. The big banks would've laughed at my request, I am sure. Thank you Howard Bank, EC, and thank you Ginger, for the white glove service only a Neighbor could give. Dr. J.
