Prior to the Covid pandemic, I purchased Christmas decorations and reasonably priced antiques. I enjoyed making the 45 minute drive to explore each month's new finds, but NO longer. The antiques are not really sold there anymore. To quote my wife, they only sell "shabby chic shit." From unappealing boutique clothing for petite-women, Little House on the Prairie hand-me-downs for children to unsold remnants from Pier One Imports, the previously intriguing antiques were replaced with ubiquitous decorator knockoffs. It's like the worst of Etsy came to life as a brick and mortar store!!!

They are open once a month. I believe it is the last weekend of each month. They have many many different things from clothes, to furniture to pictures and kitchen Ware. A little bit of a lot of things. Many many very good smelling candles. You have to actually go to see what all they have that time, inventory changes frequently I believe. It is a fun place to go!

This place is amazing! I went for the first time today and I'm so amazed and want to go back tomorrow for more. There are so many truly unique and special finds. You can find things for all decor styles: farmhouse, contemporary, antique, classic...There are decor items, clothes, furniture, almost everything. It will take a few hours to look through it all (there are 3 separate buildings with multiple floors). Everyone I met was very friendly and they even helped bring bags to the car. I thought the prices were wonderful compared to similar shops. One note for fellow mamas, I don't think this would be a particularly stroller friendly place given the multiple floors and so many things. But it's still an absolute must-visit place! Worth coming back every month to check out.

The Painted Mill on the small Main Street of Fallston contains four stories/floors of amazing wares. One can find furniture, clothing, scented soaps, baked goods, knick-knacks of various types, kitchen towels, place settings or odd dishes, and more. Several years ago I used to visit a craft shop on Bond Street in Bel Air that had an occasional outdoor market in the parking area, and it is apparently this market that found a permanent home in this 19th century old wooden grist mill in Fallston. The Mill itself was an extension of the main Mill started by the Reckord Family on Rockspring Road in Bel Air that continues to day as a source of garden supplies. The Fallston mill apparently served as a huge storehouse for grains and milled flour, and both sites are located along the former Maryland and Pennsylvania train tracks that run through the county. The Painted Mill maintains the old hand operated elevator in order to move merchandise within the building. Stairs have been added for shoppers, but would not be easy for carrying large items up and down. The market is open for one long weekend each month, and I was lucky to make the May dates. Several dozen vendors occupy space on the different floors, and most were present to talk about their wares and about the market scene generally. There is a central checkout to make payment easy. Parking was plentiful during my visit, but I was told that it can be challenging on dates near major holidays. There was almost a museum-like quality to the place, and although I did not buy much this time (cookies, soaps, wooden spoons), I feasted my eyes on all the unusual and fun items on display. The Fallston area has a number of historical sites and good restaurants, so finding the market open was icing on that cake of a tour around the community.

Love this place! Love the great ideas. I wait each month to visit. Today I shopped for two hours on all three levels. I bought lots. Unfortunately I left a package in front of the counter. I purchased two items from the cellar and put my bag down to pay for more. I left without picking it up. I am hoping I can go back and it might have been turned in. I am a believer that someone turned it in!❤️

This was my favorite place to shop when I lived in Maryland. It's been about 3 years since I moved but figured I would help them out by writing a review. :-) I still follow The Painted Mill on FB for inspiration! I used to go every month on the sales date. I've purchased many items here- big and small. My favorite is a beautiful dresser I purchased for my daughter. The price of the furniture is so reasonable. I have yet to find a place like this here (Orlando). I highly recommend going to a sale. It's a pleasant weekend activity. So glad to see this business is flourishing-especially after covid. I hope to visit Baltimore soon on a sales date.
