“Hollerstown B & B is one f the most welcoming places we've stayed at. We stay with Betty and Phil every time we are in the Frederick area. I have dietary restrictions and Betty in her creative way cooks/bakes the most delicious breakfast for me. My husband can eat anything and Betty cooks his breakfast separately for him and the other guests. The home is extremely comfortable with easy parking which is important in Frederick. Betty and Phil are there for conversation, recommendations, for whatever you may need. I highly recommend.”

“First, let me state that the front desk staff and breakfast staff (especially Maria) are excellent. They are the best I've ever experienced at a hotel.

That being said - the hotel rooms need some updating. The kitchen floor tile is rippled and the dirt has accumulated for years. Their cleaning method to get the dirt out just doesn't work. The carpet is outdated and needs to be replaced. It's just not up to my cleanliness standards. The furniture is uncomfortable for a long stay - you can put up with it for a week or two but after that you realize how uncomfortable it is. The toilet seat in the bathroom is a split-seat design. If you are sharing the room with your husband or a male significant other, you have to wipe between the split - not to be indelicate but men tend to spray/dribble and a woman has to wipe it down before sitting (sorry for being so descriptive). Most of the cleaning staff are excellent, a few not so much. We had to request items that should have been placed in the room during cleaning more than a few times. I might also mention that the toilet paper and paper towels in the rooms are really cheap, especially considering the nightly rate. However, I do highly recommend this hotel. It is a nice place and everyone, including other guests, are very friendly. I would just suggest to Plamondon that they rehab the rooms - they are definitely showing their age.”

“The owner has wonderful knowledge of his spirits! I thought I had tried or at least heard of most vodkas… not the case! He said I should try a cucumber infused bottle by Wagner. It really fits the spot, refreshing too!!”

“Being so close to I270, there was quite a bit of traffic noise in the room

Rooms: Room was nice and clean.

Food and drinks: Restaurant was closed on Sunday. That was disappointing”

“There was an issue with a leaking shower they didn’t fix. They didn’t clean our room I had to ask for it ? they said? Isn’t that supposed to be done by default? Also laundry ? you have to do it yourself ?”

“Thank goodness I stayed here. There was a gentleman named Jacob who went above and beyond to help! I really had an exceptional experience because of his help. Superb staff, room, and amenities.”

“We just needed a quick place to overnight on an exhausting cross-country trip. We rolled up here very close to midnight and were met by Mitchell, who was just a delight. He knows so much information about the area and also about the hotel itself. The hotel has many very nice plants. The rooms are very spacious actually with a sofa included (but at the expense of bathroom space).

My other complaint is that most of the lights in the room are a very bright vivid LED lights, although the bedside lights are a softer warm light. Overall, it was a very comfortable bed with plenty of pillows, and we were quite happy.”

“This is a very nice hotel to stay if you find your self in Frederick. I had an early event that it would be helpful if I was able to get early check it. While they didn’t have to, they did everything they could to accommodate. Merritt (who I later found out was just covering from a nearby sister hotel) did everything in his power to help me. These folks really understood “hospitality”. I just wish I had caught Merritt before he returned to his sister hotel of Residence Inn to thank him again. I would happily spend the money to stay here again or at the Residence Inn, thanks to the cleanliness of the room and the customer service.”

“Food and Beer were great! Parking was a nightmare. Apparently one patron was so anxious to get inside they couldn't Park properly. It made it very difficult for cars to pass by”

“We booked 2 rooms here 10/23/2024 to 10/25/2024. They honored our first-floor request which we were grateful for. Both bathtubs were peeling and the water while never cold was never hot either it was always just warm. The rooms were carpeted, AC worked fine. There were no drawers in the room and the breakfast had no hot food or fruit just a lot of prewrapped pastry and muffins. I would stay here again.”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Rock-Solid Comfort with a Hometown Feel!”

Adelayda was the best front desk help I’ve ever dealt with! If you’re passing through Frederick or in town for business like I was, the Comfort Inn Red Horse delivers the kind of consistent quality and low-hassle experience that busy travelers rely on. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I was greeted with warm professionalism—check-in was lightning fast, and the staff showed true local hospitality, not the phony kind.

My room? Clean, cool, and surprisingly quiet. The bed was firm without being stiff (big win), and the blackout curtains worked overtime—critical after long days on the road. Fast Wi-Fi, plenty of charging ports, and strong water pressure sealed the deal.

Breakfast in the morning hit all the right notes—waffles, eggs, and real coffee that didn’t taste like it was brewed through a gym sock. Plenty of parking too, which matters more than people realize.

This isn’t just a pit stop—it’s a reliable operational base when you’re working or adventuring in western Maryland. Practical, efficient, and refreshingly well-run. Five stars, no hesitation.”
