About the restaurant: As its name suggests, this family-friendly restaurant is situated downstairs, behind what must have once been someone's cellar door. Enjoy the brick walls, wooden tables and booths, planked floor, and the lengthy bar. If you are seated near the entrance, you'll notice that the kitchen is located to the side of the space. Happy hours and regularly scheduled entertainment are part of the experience.Likes: Pleasant staff and all-American eats.Dislikes: The stairs can be a challenge for some patrons.Food & Drinks: If you drop in --- or walk down --- to the restaurant midday on weekends, you will find a very casual menu with appetizers such as cream of crab soup, chicken quesadillas and crispy goat cheese fritters served with roasted beets and a citrus honey vinaigrette. Choose from a variety of burgers, from a California veggie burger based on lentils to the bacon-and-cheddar version. Other sandwiches, called "handhelds" range from a Cellar French dip to a shrimp po' boy wrap. Dinnertime offerings reflect much of the lunchtime fare, but the kitchen also prepares seafood-focused dishes, roasted chicken and grilled steak with mashed potatoes. The limited dessert selection includes a layer cake, bread pudding, and cheesecake with ice cream. The aforementioned happy hour starts at 11 a.m. on weekends, when you can drink beer, wine or other libations while you feast.
