Just dropping back in here to reaffirm at this bank is a horrible organization that does not support small businesses does not listen to their customers.
Thank you for making the day-to-day operations of a small business even more challenging
Just a crock of a bank — continued failures to listen to small businesses and their needs. Total deception.
Arguably the worst decision I’ve made in business is opening an account with the bank.

BE AWARE OF HOW THEY TREAT ELDERS! My 80+ year old father who’s had an account with them for 50+ years and wants to close his account with SS after retiring. He is very coherent and right in the mind so my mother and I were very confused when Jackie, who I believe is branch manager, refused to let him close his account. His first attempt a couple weeks ago he went alone and came home disappointed telling us that Jackie literally said to him “she won’t let him” implying it’s in his best interest despite him expressing his stress with the accounts and desire to close them. Today he went in with my mother, who was greeted by Jackie with hostility, followed by another unsuccessful meeting to close his accounts in which again she expressed from her point of view why she won’t close his account “for his best interest”. After enough uncomfortable interactions at the Gaithersburg location my parents went to Olney to get more insight and figure out why he isn’t able to close his accounts. With a smile they told them it’s no issue at all and had the accounts closed in minutes. Im not sure why the line was crossed in the first place but putting so much personal input that created more stress and confusion is not only unprofessional but borderline neglectful.

Wooow where do I even begin? I own a small contracting business and (used to) bank with ssb. Long story short, due to a glitch in our payroll, I had to pay my employees out of my personal account, making all the necessary deductions. Anyway, I was eventually flagged by SSB and they said my rate of withdrawal was too high and suspicious. First of all, you don’t get to look at my transactions and tell me I’m spending too much. Second, they then have the audacity to report me to the police. Who then investigated me and my employees, many of whom are undocumented. I hate to play the race card, but I’m sure they saw a black man making numerous withdrawals and of course concluded the worst. What an ordeal me and my employees have been put through. Bank elsewhere, do not support this kind of prejudicial and authoritarian behavior. This is America, not China, my money is my money, and you don’t tell me how to spend it. Disgusting. The manager should be fired and the employees retrained. At the very least. And you bet, there’s gonna be a law suit.
