Sassy River Market is a local essentials market serving Galena since the 1960s. It is a convenient one-stop shop with a wide variety of groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, and fresh cut meats. The market offers a great selection of domestic and imported liquor, wine, craft beers, and other adult beverages. Customers can also find gourmet cheese, subs and sandwiches, which are noted as being amazing. Additional items include lottery, phone cards, plants, and assorted canned and frozen goods. The staff is courteous, personable, and welcoming. While some find it a little pricey, the shelves are usually well stocked, making it a very convenient local market.
Friendly owner, good prices and good selection of products. We go there often. I’m “thrifty” and picky about what I buy. We’ve shopped at that location since the Otwells owned and operated the store.

Being just far enough from all the chain markets to make it inconvenient it’s nice to have a local spot to get necessities without having to go far. Plus, you can’t find that friendly “remember your face and regular purchases” at big chains like you do at your corner market!
