I have great credit (in the mid to high 800s) and make a decent income. I have no credit card debt. My only bill is my mortgage. Recently, I applied for a home improvement loan. I was treated as if I was in my early teens to twenties trying to establish credit. I requested a certain amount and was countered with considerably less. When I inquired why I was not extended the credit I requested, I received robotic answers and was talked to in loan person language. I attempted to explain I am using TFCU out of convenience and any other institution would have given me the credit in minutes-no response. For once I would like to apply for a loan without hassle and at the amount I requested. I like have my bills in one location - no such luck.

I've been so disappointed with Tower Federal Credit Union. They dock your account for not using the accounts and refuse to give your money back if they docked it over 2 or 3 months ago. So I transferred funds to the accounts and they docked the account again and again refused to give the fee back to me. This time only 1 month had passed!Then this past weekend they did a "technology upgrade" and it bombed. Ok, so apologize and fix everyone's accounts, nope, just wait customers had money tired up from Friday till Wednesday with Tower offering no solution whatsoever. The phone support hung up on me twice and so did the online chat. In person at the Gambrills location felt like a trip to hell as they were completely clueless. People had thousands of dollars in THEIR money tied up in this Tower Federal Credit Union technology upgrade.Avoid this bank like the plague!

5 star to counteract Karen that gave them 1 star despite not ever going to this branch. Clearly doesn't know what she's saying. From someone that makes a living by keeping up with security standards their practices are the opposite of archaic even if inconvenient for you.

I have had numerous accounts with Tower Federal for about 15 years now? They definitely make themselves extremely helpful in offering useful assistance in terms of money management and gaining a profit in the process. Also, in helping you improve any “damage” that may be holding you back from making investments.However, after becoming a major target for identity theft…and it was a matter of waiting until a MAJOR incident occurred. Despite informing them over and over again to be on the look out and prepared for ANY abnormal transaction. Nearly every time, they have failed to even raise a red flag once I started getting hits left and right. I nearly left the bank entirely. They had all the police reports and everything imaginable to safeguard my information. So I was absolutely livid over having to completely close all of my accounts about 4 times and open new ones.They have improved. But it took me an appointment that was not a pleasant one on their part, to make it very clear that their lack of caution despite being fully responsible and aware of the issue at hand…I would not tolerate one single “slip up” from this point forward. If that occurs, I would absolutely take every opportunity to make it known to the public of inappropriate handling of personal funds and lack of ethical standards to protect confidential information.Since then…they’ve been fantastic!!! Lol!

Tower FCU is a wonderful institution with excellent employees who are dedicated to providing quality service. I always go to the Crofton location and am able to conduct business in an efficient and timely manner. Haven't tried other branches because the team at this location always makes me feel like I matter. Can't say the same about many of the banking institutions these days.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!! I've been a good standing customer for close to 15yrs. I had an issue that could have been easily resolved yet the Gambrills Bank Manager did not even want to speak to me directly. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS INSTITUTION BECAUSE THEY DO NOT VALUE YOU AS A CUSTOMER!!!

Have to agree with Lorelie - they are terrible. These people docked my account 10 bucks because I didn't update my address with them in the quarter that I moved. NO LIE!I wouldnt do biz with these people if they were the only source of cash on the planet.

I have been a member of Tower Federal credit Union since I was a teenager. So, it's been about 30 years! I have used several different branches, but since living in this area, this is one of the branches I use the most. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have needed to speak to member service representatives in person a few times since the pandemic hit, and they have a very efficient process for handling interaction with the members in a safe and effective way. We made our appointment online and when we arrived at the branch we called to let them know we were there and they called us when we could enter the branch for our appointment. They did a great job providing a safe environment. Admittedly, I do most of my banking there there mobile banking app and I love it. I can do check deposits via the app which is very convenient. When I need assistance that does not require going to a branch, their member services department is great on the phone as well. I love the fact that I can be a member of this credit union. It provides so many advantages over the typical bank. If you're looking for a new financial institution that offers everything from checking, savings, to CDs and credit cards, check them out.

The website is archaic at best, they actually purge your login info if you don't log in for 90 days and then you cannot without calling and receiving physical mail to set up the accounts again. We will be switching banks, this is absolutely crazy.
