Came to get rear break pads and rotors on 3/31. About 4 weeks ago the breaks started to squeak. I assumed they were the front because we did not get those done. I made an appointment at another auto shop to get FRONT brakes done only to discover it's the back brakes! They were BAD I mean medal to medal as if they had never been changed in the first place. It is September 15th. So about $430 for brakes will only last about 6 months! When I called to speak with a mechanic for clarity I was told there could possibly be a caliber issue. They acknowledged that there HAD to be some underlying issue because new pads as rotors should not wear that fast. Nope! Had a full inspection, everything taken out to check if there was a blockage or locked caliber and nothing was wrong. No underlying issue so what kind of brakes last 6 months? I don't drive any far distances, just normal use.Of course was no warranty so I just have to pay for rear breaks twice within a 6 month time span. And the owner is never available to speak with anymore. My entire family has used Roy's in the past, nice people but the quality of service has definitely declined over the last couple years. Sad to say we will not be back.Service: Brakes

a little over a year ago, i brought my car here to get A LOT of work done .. the bill was over 3k, which isn’t the issue .. the issue is that what “replaced” and “fixed” is all failing and has been for quite some time now . had 2 other mechanics look at the car & tell me that this car looks like it hasn’t been touched & that what was supposed to have been fixed should’ve lasted MUCH longer . (even funnier is that i was in foster care at the time & DSS paid for my car to be fixed .. they’re contacting the BBB)not only that , when we dropped off the car , we were told it would be a week or two .. we didn’t get the car back for over a month & then was told “someone was sabotaging the store and our car was hit in that crossfire” . like ok ?we recently took it back bcuz our car is making a noise , they said it was the breaks and the wheel bearings . turns out nothing is wrong with the wheels bearing but it does need new breaks .. why ?! they JUST got them replaced .now , our car is not a long distance driver we only keep it local .. one of the issues we had was the breaks (which they said were replaced) . our breaks are in TERRIBLE shape . i called yesterday & asked about warranty , longevity , and replacing . the man who answered said that they should last 3-4 years and that they’d be happy to look and fix them for me .. then i told him that i got them done there & they should be under warranty , based on what he said . his entire attitude changed & he was like “well if you’re putting a bunch of miles on the car and driving it all the time it’s obviously gonna wear down the breaks” but you said that our breaks should still be good ? hmm interesting .i wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone . after reading these comments i see this is a pattern with them . y’all need to stop ripping people off & just close down .

I wound up in a position no one wants to find themselves in...I was broken down while driving from Baltimore to Southern West Virginia. After a lot of "no"s from other service centers when I inquired about same day inspection, Roy's gave me a much needed "yes". The mechanic was thorough, super informative, did not talk down to us or try to upsale. Infact, he had the kindness to tell me if I could get it back to Baltimore, that would be my best bet. He knew keeping it there to have them service it would mean a weekend in a hotel in Hagerstown (he even made a great Mr. Deeds joke about it). Being that my car is a Kia, he also knew that I might be able to have them cover services, due to on going engine issues with Kias. A small adjustment was made to help get it home and I was charged way less than I thought I would be.All in all, I could not have gotten luckier with my service provider in this tense situation.

Very good experience! Very nice & personable! I was updated on the work every step of the way. I was able to get my truck fixed & back to me in a reasonable amount of time considering what needed to be fixed. (Transmission)I recommend if you're in the Hagerstown area. ?Services: Transmission

Dwayne & his Wife Carole are wonderful Souls, which equates to speaking to genuine humans who possess empathy. In this seemingly wayward world of repair roulette, that's rare. I brought in an old vintage van, which I knew would need significant work. Dwayne informed me what needed to be done & why by inviting me to have a look underneath. I brought my vehicle to a previous mechanic & I had to ask the women 3 times "Could I look at the vehicle underneath please" and was too preoccupied to comply with my request. If you bring your vehicle here, you will get straight answers, from genuine people who also know their trade. Keep up the good work Dwayne & Carole!peace & light ~ Shawn Vanden

My sisters vehicle was towed here after my nephew got a flat tire while driving. They were expected to give an estimate on a tire, which ended up being two that got damaged, no problem. They did end up letting us know about the fender liner that was damaged and wires that ran next to it needing repaired. The initial estimate, and when i called, verified that they were charging 55$ PER TIRE just to mount and balance. Thats crazy high. They were not very clear in communication and the estimate they emailed my father was not even complete. The guy i talked to on the phone even stated himself that he had not yet gotten the prices for the electrical plugs, washer fluid pump, or reservoir. After seeing the prices I decided to have her car taken elsewhere. They ended up charging 118 DOLLARS for DIAGNOSTIC FEE. They did not test, disassemble, or diagnose any symptoms or issues but rather, gave an INCOMPLETE ESTIMATE on damages able to be seen visually. I understand if you want to cover your shop time with a rack fee or something to cover the technicians time but you need to communicate ANY fees you plan to charge to the customer and get PRIOR AUTHORIZATION for that. Over 100 dollar diagnostic fee is NEVER something that should be assumed when you have a car towed in for a dang tire replacement, plastic fender liner damage or not. Once they saw that and decided that the safest thing to do would be to put it on a rack and further evaluate it, the call shouldve been made to ask for diagnostic time and get authorization for the price. SHADY PRACTICES BY QUESTIONABLE PEOPLE,......AVOID AT ALL COSTS

My head was whirling over the $400+ quote from a dealership and I happened to drive by Roy's Quality Car Care. I stopped in and explained my problem, I had the required part but couldn't detach the connector for the MAF sensor. The guy up front called a tech who kindly detached the connector and answered all my questions. Fixed it myself for $12. Roy's Quality Car Care has my business hands down.Service: Auto maintenance

The communication was rough. Every time I would talk to someone, they would tell me something different. At one point with my car being there for two days, I was told I never gave them permission to work on it. After 4 days, they decided that is was the engine and that I needed to get it towed to the dealership but not after first having me pay 130 dollars for a diagnostic check. They also tried to tell me that I told them it was the alternator, when I said the tow truck driver thought it might be the alternator.
