Went to the ER for a foot problem and they turned me away after talking to a doctor due to “The Dermatologist here doesn’t do anything”, and now my problem has gotten out of hand.

Getting anyone to pick up the phone in any department is never going to happen. Long wait times for appointments, people are rude and now they have even made the lab an appoinment line. Of all our time at different bases, this is the most inefficient hospital that we have encountered. My suggestion = go to Bowling. The 20 min drive is worth better service, and you will still get back to work quicker than waiting for Andrews (even if you work on Andrews).

I just had a doctor’s visit (internal medicine), with Dr. Jo. This doctor is the most pleasant, helpful, understanding, and knowledgeable doctor I’ve seen during the entire 4 years of our military affiliation. He answered all of my questions, went above and beyond by even suggesting other precautions, gave valuable advice, and met all the needs for my visit today. Most importantly, all of this was done while maintaining a kind, patient, and caring attitude! I am so grateful that I was able to be seen by Dr. Jo! I normally don’t leave reviews, but I feel that his service deserves recognition and praise!

I have had great doctors and not so great doctors. Just like any other hospital. Most of my experiance has been great, active duty and when husband retired. All three military base I have used have been wonderful.

My husband went here to get the smile eye surgery since the military makes you choose their people. Well, apparently the "Dr" and his team got their degrees from a cereal box due to their exceptional incompetence. First, my husband had to wait 2 hours after being prepped for surgery because according to them "there was a complication with the previous patient".. This wouldn't have been so nerve-wrecking if they had actually given him the calming medications before hand (valium). No worries, they noticed and sent him home with a little brown baggie with them so he could take them after the fact.. Not only did they forget the valium, but they also forgot to numb one of his eyes and wondered why he was in pain when they sliced it open.Fortunately his vision is better which is why they are receiving 1 star.

As a two family retiree, it is pretty horrible dealing with certain aspects of this clinic. I hate that I cannot give specific clinics a separate review because ENT and Podiatry are GREAT! 5 STARS! Beyond that the systems they have in place make no sense at all! The Pharmacy is an absolute mess, the system does not function correctly and noone knows anything! It takes DAYS to get your medication so if you are within a 7-10 days of running out good luck!! The Lab takes HOURS to get blood work done if you have to get it done same day! And if you are a retiree and trying to get an appointment is just as bad, 8 weeks to get an annual physical appointment, in the meantime can't get anyone to answer outside providers requests for updated referrals. NO availability within the National Capital Region for a Podiatrist referral at all!! Yet Tricare costs go up EVERY year and we cannot even get care we PAY for! My husband had an appointment on 8 June, called 48 hours later to activate a referral, was told he needed to call another number to get the referral reviewed, he called three additional times and to date, 16 June the referralis still NOT active! It literally sat in the nurses mailbox for two weeks, I had to get Patient Admin involved for the referral to even get activated! This is the quality care we PAY for! I guess process improvement is really a thing of the past!

Please save yourself time and trouble and just don’t choose this place of business. Some of the doctors are worth it but the way everything is set up isn’t. Phone lines are confusing and the directory doesn’t work half of the time. The pharmacy is an absolute nightmare. The attitudes from the clinics and pharmacy are horrendous. Not saying all of it is a nightmare, but you have to weed through a lot of bad to get to the good. I’ve been going here for 3 years. It has been 3 years of dread.

Tried to use the ER after hours tonight. CLOSED! Do we have any benefits anymore? This ER should be 24/7. Come on Andrews, do better for the troops!

And the facility was new, technically up-to-date, with spacious treatment spaces as well as waiting areas. Thumbs up to this health care center.

Request a switch of location of your PCM, especially if your Navy. Literally ANYWHERE is better than here. Don’t even bother trying to call for an appointment, you’ll either be on hold for over an hour or they won’t answer. Can’t schedule an appointment online. Genesis doesn’t have it updated to andrews. Can’t get ahold of anyone if you call, and if you do get ahold 90% of the time they actually answer they are incredibly rude.-2 hours after posting this review I have yet to get ahold of anyone to make an appointment.

Welcome to Andrews AFB where medical is a joke. Good luck getting any of the offices to answer the phones whenever you need to schedule an appointment. Plan on spending the entire day here if you get seen and need a prescription filled. The pharmacy set up is complete garbage. Dental here doesn’t have enough staff to get people in so book appointments 3-6 months out as well. Don’t even bother with urgent care cause they can’t do anything and just refer you to your pcm who will take a month to see you if they’re here. Also they do this dumb thing every first Thursday of the month and close everything to hold in house training. Just drive to Walter Reed of Fort Belvoir. Recommend working on some bushcraft skills and sucking it up instead of coming here for medical care. They got a nice building and a Starbucks that’s about the only nice thing though.

I was super pleased with the standard of care that I received at Malcolm Grow for an outpatient surgical procedure. All healthcare professionals involved in my care were just that, professional, highly professional for that matter. And the facility was new, technically up-to-date, with spacious treatment spaces as well as waiting areas. Thumbs up to this health care center.

Worst urgent care/emergency center I have ever experienced. I went in on a Friday afternoon (2pm) and was discharged at (8pm) with minimal guidance from the doctor. Stated there wasn’t much they could do but put in a referral, wait for next week to be contacted and sent me on my way with a prescription to an off post pharmacy since the hospital pharmacy was already closed. I spend 2 hours driving around to different pharmacies only to get the same answer ( We don’t carry that medication at this pharmacy). I ended up going home with no medication. It is now Friday night and urgent care won’t be open until Tuesday due to the holiday! A total waste of day.. now I have to spend my weekend calling different pharmacy in hopes they have the medication I need or wait until Tuesday to fill my prescription at the hospital. To make my experience better! They forgot to take my IV out, I guess it’s my fault for leaving there without noticing but I left in a rush in hopes I could get to the pharmacy to fill my prescription and feel better, but I’m currently at home still in pain, with a whole day wasted.

For several months my husband suffered with severed with neck, hip, and foot pain. He went to the ER at the local hospitals and had follow-up appointments with doctor to find out why his neck and foot was hurting him, but the pain would never go away completely. A couple of his Army veteran buddies encouraged him to go to the base hospital at Andrew’s or Walter Reed, but he continued to follow-up with his appointments with his doctor. Finally, more than a week went by, and the pain worsen. He asked me to take him to Andrew’s Joint Base, Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center. When we arrived at the ER there's was one family ahead of us. We filled out the paperwork and waited about 3 minutes before the nurse called us back. After the nurse put all the information in the computer, she said, they needed to take some x-rays. I asked if there was time for me to go to the Commissary and BX/PX and she told me yes, because they were going to take some blood work as well. I was gone for over an hour. When I came back to the hospital, I waited for about 5 minutes before my husband was discharged. He could move his neck freely without pain. He said, the doctor (female) told him the pain was due to a bad case of pinched nerves, and the pain in his foot is a heel spur. The doctor gave him an injection in his neck for the pain and told him to follow-up with the podiatrist for the foot pain. We are so grateful to the doctor at the Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center for taking the time to figure out what was wrong with my husband, after going to some of the best known hospitals in the area. I still can't believe the local hospital and his doctor missed this diagnosis. I’d rather wait for hours and find out what’s wrong we me then to be rushed and told they can’t find the problem. I have no problem with this hospital because they found the needle in the haystack.

I’ve been at Andrews for roughly 8 months and this MDG has been the worse part of my experience. I hate going there. The Warrior clinic is the absolute worse! The front desk lady is rude and the Providers are dismissive. I worked in the MDG so I understand how some patients can be but the overwhelming majority are there because they need help. They treat you with no respect. If I had a choice I would NOT go there and many AD members share these sentiments.
