Prices are much higher than average for the area and the quality isn't any better. The store itself is worn down and dirty. There are strange, customer unfriendly details, like tiny shelves on the self-checkout lanes that aren't large enough to support shopping baskets. Many deals are now only available with Safeway's cumbersome app, even for card members. No thanks. Online shopping is laughably bad. Fix it or dump it and use that money for lower prices or better stores.
Also, the store is barely accessible. Only two handicap spaces in the parking garage means mobility equipment users can't find usable parking in bad weather. The elevators are constantly broken, and the aisles are packed with boxes and displays.
Overall seems like Safeway corporate has abandoned this location. I used to be a regular shopper here, it was even my pharmacy, but I haven't been in years and today's visit confirmed why.

Came in today at 930 everything was covered with plastic wasn’t able to get everything we need it . Not only that there was only one person working at self check and all other lanes were closed. Bought two containers of strawberries , one time i did not check they were all rotten. 3 weeks ago i corn was look like eaten by mice. When you spend 400 and some on groceries you would think they can take care of the store much better … horrible . And no one around the store if you have any questions .

Went in to buy some cheese. Picked up a 32 oz shredded Mexican cheese, showing a $7.99 price tag.
When I went to pay, it was $9.99! I told the cashier that the tag said $7.99! He told me that if I buy 3, it costs $7.99. I told him that can't be right! What average person buys 3 bags of 32oz bags of shredded cheese? Cheese party? I went to check the price tag and sure enough, he was right! $9.99 one bag, $7.99 if you buy THREE!
Right down the street, at Amazon Fresh, a 32 oz bag of Mexican shredded cheese costs $7.59, for ONE!
Now I realize that Safeway is another grocery store with OVER inflated prices, ripping off the customers and claiming inflation! If Amazon Fresh can sell it for $7.59, why is yours $9.99?
Liars, cheaters, Greedy??
I expected this from Balduzzi's, but not Safeway, a store that I've been frequenting ALL my life!
From now on, I'm sticking to honest, kind and understanding grocery stores, like Amazon Fresh, Aldi's, Hmart, La Mart, Lidl, .....

The cashier that was working the only open register today around 8:00 pm was very rude. He threw the receipt on the counter at me after I finished my transaction. Not sure what his issue was but he clearly was having a bad day because he was rude from the time I got in the line. I asked him for double bags with my groceries, he didn’t double bag the groceries so I asked him again he proceeded to say “I heard you the first time”.. I should’ve spoke to a manager before I left but I was in a rush. Luckily I found his name on my receipt. If you are the manager and you see this review, I hope you plan on taking disciplinary action against your employee because this is NOT good customer service. I’ve been coming here for years and never received such a disrespect service. Throwing the receipt on the counter at a customer is insane. His name is Diego, I’ll also be contacting the Safeway corporate office as well to report him.

The people here have been pretty nice and helpful so the review doesn't reflect the staff. This is one of the worst setup Safeways I've been to though and it doesn't make sense why. It's overly cramped, aisles aren't intuitively placed, and the constant stocking during the day just makes it worse. Went to grab peppers today and there's bins of other produce in front of the produce shelves meaning unless you're tall with long arms you can't reach stuff. Just a frustrating shopping experience every time we pop in here.

First time here. Very hard to find anything. The layout is no logical and cluttered. The staff was freindly when I ask where things were located.
