Even with an appointment I had about a 40 minute wait but once taken to the back I had a very competent nurse and Doctor Who helped me with my pre-op.

Health care provider was kind and compassionate. Waited 2 hours beyond appointment time in waiting area full of unmasked people coughing & sneezing. Perhaps a system where people could wait in their cars & be texted when ready to be seen could be implemented to reduce the potential spread of illness from patient to

Today I have experienced the longest wait time. My appointment was at 3 pm and been sitting here for 4 hours still have not seen a physician yet. However they told me that they have 2 physicians working smh. I don’t recommend at all….

I was extremely impressed with my service. The staff was very professional and caring. As an out of state visitor on vacation it was not my desire to spend it in a doctor’s office but I was happy with my care. They got me in and out in a timely manner. Thank you team for the great care.

Just don’t. I made an appointment the day before I went as this clinic is closest to my residence. The check-in process was seamless and wait time NOT unreasonable given the forewarning clearly stated in directions for the online check-in. What disgusted me, was the level of care from too much of the back of building personnel as well as the unnecessary contempt shown by the front desk staff. After about a 30 minute wait I was directed by an employee to go back to a room and push my sleeve up so that she could evaluate my blood pressure when she arrived to the room. After a couple of minutes, she walks in, put the cuff on me and measures my heart rate. She then declared that based on my symptoms she “can give three swab tests, 2 nasally and one orally.” She completed them, left the room and never returned to offer test results/direction on how to retrieve them. The PA then walks in the room within a reasonable amount of time, does a decent evaluation BUT leaves the room without stating to me what his diagnosis is or a quick description of the medications being dispensed. No one did. It is truly concerning especially given that he sent me home with FOUR prescriptions. Shortly after a different tech comes in the room, hands me the paperwork and says “You can leave.” I read what the diagnosis is on the paperwork. I believe/feel like I was treated as if I was WALKING PAPER MONEY!! What solidified this idea for me was because I needed to go back to the building later the same day because the excuse slip given for my employer had been typed incorrectly. So, a few hours later, I drive back to UMUC, walk in and politely tell the receptionist that the note needs to be corrected. She honestly took a quick look at it and proceeded to try to tell me “this is right.” Question, “How would the RECEPTIONIST even know?” In turn, I calmly/politely ask that she read the forbearing sentence to the last one and she puts it on the desk and says “They’ll take care of it.” WHO trained/told any of these folks that the level of care at an URGENT CARE CENTER should be bottom feeder quality?!?! Please Jesus fix it, ‘cause I NEVER want to go back there. The stars are for the PA (who needs patient repor training for not telling me the diagnosis or talking w/me about the meds) and the last tech who had the best disposition of them all. I understand they are in the busiest season but part of their training (former medical professional here) is to make the patient feel heard, seen and cared for. You decide for yourself what this kind of care looks like. I’m sticking to the understanding that the BUSINESS METRIC mattered the most at my appointment. To be fair I’ll tell you I’d been sick for two weeks but nagging discolored phlegm encouraged further assessment.Signed, a once loyal customer.

I'm very disappointed that I selected on my paperwork that I wanted to see someone in person but was still given a virtual appointment eventhough I was physically in the office. I was also charged in person fees- $225, whereas if I had done a teladoc appointment from home it would have been free.If patients have to pay the full fees then we should be able to see a provider in person.

**Update** It has been almost 4 months (as of 10/31/2023) since I posted this review. I completed the "secure online patient feedback form" that I was asked to. As of this date, NOT ONE PERSON from MedStar health has reached out to me. Don't fall for their faux concern in the "Response from the owner" to this review. It's all for show. IMO, they totally care about your money and not your health. **End Update**Don't show up near closing time. They will see you and try to treat you and then send you to the Emergency Room when it gets to closing time under the premise "It's beyond their control". So I go to the ER and they were puzzled why Urgent Care couldn't take care of my issue (and in fact it was resolved). Urgent care was in such a rush to go home they didn't want to wait to see if results were good or not. So now I am stuck with two medical bills because of this place's incompetence.

I received outstanding service. Was greeted promptly. Technician taking vitals was very professional and pleasant as was the person at the front desk. Kat, the Nurse Practitioner on duty was outstanding. She listened to what I had to say, asking questions and conducting exam. She went so far as to refer me to a primary care physician as well as having a coordinator assist in this effort for follow up care. The facility was clean and my wait time was not as bad as I had perceived it was going to be. I would definitely recommend this facility to others and visit again should the need arise.

The wait was long about 2.5 hours in the waiting room. I didn’t have an appointment so I expected a long wait especially with the change of seasons and all. I was diagnosed with a contagious eye infection. After explaining to the doctor that I worked with small children, he refused to give me a doctor’s excuse for work. His response was, “Well as long as no one touches it.” That was really disappointing coming from a heath care provider. Small children touch EVERYTHING! How can I consciously go to work knowing that I could put so many children and families at risk right before the holidays. I’m not going in because I would never. I care about the children and families I serve. Don’t get me wrong he was very charismatic and friendly. I just COMPLETELY disagree with his decision to not keep obviously unwell people away from little people, who are some of the most susceptible for getting and spreading infections and illness. Not okay doc. Not okay at all!On another note, my son has been here before and had a great experience. So I guess it just depends on the provider.

I have personally went for care twice at this facility. The first visit they promptly diagnosed my condition as a gall bladder problem and promptly sent me to the hospital for surgery. The second visit was also promptly and effectively cared for. Great staff.

Exceptional service and dedication to Serving their community no matter the good bad treatment from those they selfishly treat and greet each day! Hats off to the fine staff at this location La Plata. MD 20646. Highly Recommend to patronize when you need minor care.

Nurse Parr listened to me about my illness. She prescribed the necessary medications to help in my time of need. And I would like to thank everyone on the team that assisted me yesterday. I now I feel so much better and will not have to the emergency room for help.

The front desk staff was rude. The center opened at 8 she didn’t unlock the door until 8:01 after seeing us stand outside in the rain. If we are coming in for a sick appt she just added more sickness by having us stand out in the cold rain. Then she just unlocked the door and walked away. No hello or nothing. Then she didn’t seem to know anything except how to register and take the money any extra questions she was unsure. The nurse and the nurse practitioner were great I do feel that the practitioner tried to talk to me like she thinks black people talk to each other. Things like calling me girlfriend. But overall she was ok. I have been going there for years and it seems to be getting worse each time I go.

Well this is my second time there within several weeks with coughing, breathing issues, as well as a tickle in my throat. I was feeling better the first time but gradually I was having a hard time breathing again. The team was very helpful. The nurse practitioner was great. I feel better, but hopefully this cough will completely leave. The only problem I had was filling out the forms on line again. It can be cut down some. When your nit feeling well it's a headache.. But overall I didn't wait 3 hrs to be seen with ny breathing. Thank you...

I understand that staples removal is not as critical as someone else having a much serious condition or issue. I was a walk in as an appointment was not an option. Having that only option, I showed up at 8:00 AM, the time the Urgent Care opened up, in the hope of getting a first to come turn and get out at a reasonable time. After the procedural paperwork, I was called in to an examination room where after an hour wait the staples were finally removed. As I said before, emergencies happen and I’m cognizant of them. There’s got to be a better and efficient way to deal with these issues. Hire more staff to handle the load of patients. Perhaps allow patients to schedule appointments for non critical care.
