I’m extremely disappointed in this experience…
I was refused a wash and roller set for whatever reason and was forced to get a blowout instead. I’m assuming it’s because of my hair type, but I literally got a roller set 2 weeks prior at another salon.
While the receptionist was nice, my stylist seemed irritated with my presence alone.
I asked her to use the product I brought and she used a few sprays over my thick type 4 hair… clearly not enough. Most of the products were anti humidity so since enough wasn’t used, my hair puffed up as soon as I sweated a bit… I’ve got blow out many times before and my hair has never reverted that quickly.
I also asked her to turned down the heat and she didn’t. She burned my scalp multiples times with both the blowdyer and flat iron.
I was also charged an extra fee for the thickness of my hair and I was not told until the end when I had to pay…which extremely predatory. And considering that fact that I brought my own product and I have a short bob, it makes no sense. It’s just a being black with natural hair fee. I can’t control the density of my hair and a hairstylist should be able to just do the hair in front of them without an additional fee.
I’m so annoyed that I have to redo my hair the next morning… I will not be back.

Open on a Sunday which i needed and love!! Had a 10:30 am appointment for a Blowout, no wait. Was washed, blowdried , hair curled & out the Salon by 11:50. $90! Definitely will keep this place on my list and would absolutely be back

Hairstyle came out nice but my ear was burned under the dryer(a second degree burn). I asked them to turn it down multiple times and they did but an older lady kept coming over and turning it up. I was under the dryer longer than most I thought it was just because of the hairstyle I was getting but it genuinely seemed like they had forgotten about me and that the temperature of my dryer was higher than other customers.

When I visit MD, I try to stop at this salon to get my hair washed and set. I love the atmosphere. The representatives are really nice. I love their deep conditioner options and hot oil treatment. This time, I decided on the Avocado hot oil treatment. I also love that they don't use a lot of heat on my hair. I will be back ♥️

as a native new yorker who recently moved to maryland its been hard finding a dominican salon similar to what im used to. i’ve experienced many salons here saying roller sets are “not for this hair type” which was confusing since ive gotten them all my life. But not salon 809, i could tell they are experienced with styling afro type hair and beautifully executed my request in a professional manner with no issues. and because it was done this way my hair turned our sleek i can already tell it will last way longer than when i've went other places. i will now be a loyal salon 809 customer! thank you .

The store manager Yani took care of me from the moment I walked in. Checked me in and even washed my hair! And she thanked me for supporting over the years! She did amazing and making sure I felt amazing! 4/30 is my birthday and she make it even better thank you!!

Bummed this salon didn’t workout due to communication. From the time I walked in I expressed a need for a roller set with just blow dry at the roots because I am a curly girl.
When it’s time for blow dry I mention my need for curly twice and the stylist proceeded to blow me out straight with a lot of heat.
The ladies were hospitable and tried to offer solutions but they were all heated options so I ended up leaving without a style and hair undone.
Praying my curls bounce back.
