The employees at this Petco location are all very courteous, knowledgeable & willing to help answer any questions. They carry a wide variety of pet supplies & needs and I was able to find everything I was looking for on my visit there. I would highly recommend that you stop by to check them out, especially if you're looking for some last minute Christmas ideas for your pets!

Dear Petco Customer Relations,
I am writing to formally report an extremely unprofessional and distressing experience I had at the Petco location in Laurel, Maryland, involving the grooming department and the General Manager, Carlos Jordan.
I have been a loyal Petco grooming customer since 2020, consistently bringing my dog for grooming services. I recently began using the Laurel location after returning from college and had no prior issues of this magnitude until today.
My dog had a grooming appointment scheduled for 9:00 a.m. On the morning of the appointment, at approximately 8:40 a.m., I received an abrupt phone call from the grooming manager informing me that my appointment was being canceled. I was told this was because my request not to have a specific groomer—due to a prior unsatisfactory haircut—could not be accommodated. I was given only 20 minutes’ notice, which was extremely inconvenient and unprofessional.
During the call, I was advised to drive to the Parkville, MD location instead. This was not a feasible solution. Given the short notice and lack of explanation, I went into the Laurel store to speak with the General Manager to seek clarification and attempt to reschedule.
Upon entering the store, I was not greeted and was instructed to remain outside, despite being a paying customer with a scheduled grooming appointment. When I attempted to calmly and respectfully discuss the situation with Mr. Jordan, he was dismissive, did not acknowledge any accountability, and made no effort to resolve or explain the cancellation. He laughed during the interaction and repeatedly told me to go to another location instead of addressing my concerns.
At no point was I aggressive, disruptive, or disrespectful. I was simply asking for an explanation and a solution. Without attempting to de-escalate or continue the conversation, Mr. Jordan abruptly called the police on me. This was shocking, frightening, and deeply upsetting. There was absolutely no justification for involving law enforcement. As a Black woman, being treated as a threat rather than a customer—especially under these circumstances—was deeply disheartening. Additionally, when I requested Petco’s customer service contact information, Mr. Jordan refused to provide it, told me to “go find it,” and stated that “nothing is going to happen.”
As a loyal customer of over four years, I am deeply disappointed by how I was treated. I was denied basic customer service, denied an explanation for a last-minute cancellation, and treated as though I did not belong in the store. I ultimately had to drive to another location in hopes of securing grooming services before an upcoming trip.
I am requesting:
- A formal investigation into this incident
Review of any available store footage and phone records
- Escalation of this complaint to district or regional management
I chose Petco because I trusted your brand to provide professional, respectful service. My experience at the Laurel location—particularly with the General Manager—fell far below those standards. Due to this incident, I will not be returning to Petco unless this matter is taken seriously and addressed immediately. I expect a full review of the situation and appropriate corrective action to ensure this behavior does not occur again with other customers. Customer service and respect are fundamental expectations, and this experience fell far below those standards

I am always greeted when entering! The store is neat and organized with interesting displays and offerings. Every employee I have encountered here seems proud, informative and helpful.

We always have our dog groomed at Petco's Laurel, MD location. Our groomer Jenger is professional, pleasant & does a wonderful job. We also shop in the store & the employees are very nice.

If I could give ZERO STARS I would! I am absolutely irate with this Petco. The first time I brought my dog in, the so-called stylist Keena literally CUT MY DOG’S NECK and didn’t even have the decency to tell me. I only found out when I got home and saw the cut myself. The haircut was awful on top of that, completely uneven and sloppy. It looked like she did it blindfolded.
Then the manager, Kimberly, tried to make it right by offering to groom my dog personally (and complementary) next time. I should have trusted my gut and taken the refund, but silly me, I gave them another chance. And it was the biggest mistake ever.
My dog has a few mats, sure, but in the three years I’ve had her, no groomer has ever shaved her face and ears. Kimberly took it upon herself to do just that, for absolutely no reason. She butchered my baby’s face and ears, leaving her looking completely ridiculous. When I picked her up, Kimberly actually said, “Well, I saved more hair than last time, right?” Like it was a joke!
I am beyond disgusted. These people are lazy, unprofessional, and completely careless. They don’t care about your pet, only getting the job done fast and moving on. My poor dog looks traumatized and nothing like herself.
I will NEVER bring her here again. If you love your pet even a little, stay far away from Petco and definitely avoid Keena and Kimberly. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Poor service. not enough people working on Thursday at 3:45pm . There is only one working at cashier front desk . Second I came this location to grab some fish but I never make it thru because of bad situation. I was told to step in line at check out if you want to get live fish. Thank you
I would not stop by this store again.

Thank you so much to the store employee that I bombarded first thing in the morning for my online order. Rigby had the best day ever and appreciates you being so kind about me showing up so soon. The life vest is great and keeps his head above the water well. And the floating toy is light weight and truly floats even when completely soaked.

I have had my pug groomed here for over a year and Sara is hands down the best. She takes such care and detail to ensuring that my pug is groomed and cared for in the best way. She is truly a professional and expert. Exceptional customer service. As long as she is grooming my dog I will continue to return.
