My recent experience with Suburban was fantastic. They are totally honest and charged me exactly the fair rate. I would recommend them to anyone.DETAILS: I got my Nissan CVT transmission (the ones that break down all the time) rebuilt at Suburban several years ago ($$$!). When I developed a leak, I wanted Suburban to take care out it even though I now live pretty far from Laurel. It was under new management. I spoke to Elmer Canales, the new manager, and he was a total pro and committed to checking out the problem and hopefully fixing it right away if I brought the car in first thing. The mechanic inspected cleaned up the transmissions, inspected the leak, test drove the car, double checked it (it was an axle seal leak) and fixed it. THEN he took it for another test drive and inspected it again to make sure the leak was fixed. I walked in 9am and was out before noon.PRICE: I was worried about the cost, of course. I had already been on the phone with someone I know who does transmission work, and Elmer charged exactly what I was told it should cost. So these guys are honest.

This business is now sold to a used car dealership company called Automax. It is not the same group of people who used to run it. Notice how the good reviews are over a year old, it's from the old owners who were honest. The new guys are scammers and tried to sell me completely unnecessary work on my transmission. I took it to another shop in Laurel and it was fixed in 2 days. These guys wanted to rebuild the transmission. They also charge a diagnostic fee of $165. Other transmission shops will scan the codes for free. My advice is go to North Laurel Transmission right down the street. They will diagnose your transmission for free and won't sell you a fluid service when the transmission has a code for a sensor that needs replacing.

Mr. W Lewis, I own a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo that was discontinued in 2003 by the dealer. The speedometer stop working, I took it to Suburban Transmission Jason found that the gear in the speed sensor had melted. He done a extensive search for this part, the dealer inform him that the part was discontinued and aftermarket don't carry it.Jason was very honest to let me know that I will have a hard search finding it, and his work would be no charge !!!Thank You Jason, if future work is in my budget, I'll use Suburban Transmission.Mr. W LewisServices: Electrical

After reading reviews and being referred here by my reliable mechanic I took my car here for a diagnosis of a possible transmission issue. Please do not go to the shop if you want your car repaired since the shop manager Jason will not allow you to speak to the owner when the owner has the ultimate say in the actual work that is being done by the shop but the owner never works on the cars himself. I was given an Estimate of $20,000 to repair my transmission and I refused the service because I wanted another opinion from another mechanic and after taking my car to another mechanic they discovered that the transmission fluid leaked out resulting in me only needing a transmission oil filled in which cost roughly $300. I called Jason to talk about the mess diagnostics on the car and he said he would contact the owner and get back to me and he never got back and I reached out to him again and he stated that there was nothing wrong with they did and that I still need a transmission and which would cost me $20,000. Jason referred me to complain to BBB and contact my credit card company to fight for the misdiagnostics that they could easily refund me with. Jason is more worried about keeping good job than having customers be about to come to a resolution in a civil manner.****update****This response is to the shop. I towed the car inoperable to your shop not to be scammed for $20,000. The repairs that needed were a replacement of the radiator and topping off the coolant and transmission oil that leaked out of a faulty fitting. I paid $118 for diagnostics to you to tell me what’s wrong and not to go off the wrong diagnostic from Lexus dealer. The worst part is the Lexus dealer refunded me my diagnostic I paid them because they admitted their mistake. Suburban transmission is lazy to not do their own diagnostic and then refuse to refund my dignistic fee which was wrong.I got the car repaired for less than $1,500 which is more than $18,000 less than your quote at a shop that actually recommended me to you.It sounds like if someone brings a car with a dead battery to you, you would recommend them get a new transmission and an engine.

I have an 08 Saturn Outlook and they are notorious for having bad transmissions. I was hearing a clunking while shifting between gears and was concerned I would need a new transmission. I took it in to Jason at Suburban Transmissions off the recommendation of a co-worker. He got me in 2 days later and after diagnosing the problem informed me it wasn't the transmission as that had actually been rebuilt before I purchased the vehicle. It was the motor mounts. I shopped around a little to get estimates for the repair. He was right on par or below what 3 other shops quoted me. I have not had the clunking issues again and he saved me almost $4,000 by actually doing his job and diagnosing the problem instead of just saying I needed a new transmission. I have returned to him again with the vehicle for another issue that he determined was a broken bracket. He could not find the part immediately and searched around to find it at an old GM warehouse and had it shipped to him which took a few days. The place may be a transmission shop but excels at all troubleshooting and maintenance! Highly recommend bringing your vehicle here.

They did a great job on my SUV. The owner is very conscientious, and did everything that he could to make sure that the repairs weren't too expensive.

I talked to Jason about replacing our transmission. He gave me a good price and was honest in his opinion about if we should proceed with the replacement or not. What a breath of fresh air to deal with an owner who wanted to help you rather than take advantage of you.

Took my 6 speed Focus ST in for a clutch and flywheel replacement, Suburban did an excellent job! They were thorough enough in their replacement that they noted several other issues with my vehicle and took the effort to contact me about them and get OEM replacements without effecting the scheduled date of completion! This is the most honest and hardest working transmission shop I have ever worked with. Great job!!

I would highly recommend this auto shop if you are looking for honest mechanic to work on your vehicle. This is by far my best experience with an auto shop. Talk about transparency and honest pricing with a honest mechanic. I'd give them an extra star! Kudos to Jason!
