I've been getting veggies and eggs from Even' Star for 20 years... they specialize in growing the most flavorful, best textured, varieties... whether it's greens, melons or tomatoes. Once you've had Even' Star, you'll never go back to the bland supermarket varieties. Even if you think you don't like okra, lettuce, or whatever... try Even' Star. Farmer Brett is extremely knowledgeable and is always helpful with cooking tips and how to get the most out of what he grows.

Even Star Farm is where I go for excellent produce, wonderful people, and peaceful connection to nature. Delicious diverse crops all year; knowledgeable, passionate, and compassionate, owners Brett and Christine; hard-working and (mostly) delightful workers who (mostly) love being there. I would if I were younger!

Even’ Star is one of the things I miss most after moving from SMC. Not only is the produce great and diverse, but the staff are incredibly kind.

I have had the produce from Even’ Star Farm and it was superb. I had tried things I normally wouldn’t have and was pleasantly surprised. I’m always happy when I get to partake in the delectable from this outstanding farm.

As an employee, lifelong student, and future farmer, this farm was more than a job to me, but a resource for learning, a queer community I would have never found elsewhere in this area, and GREAT fresh food. And I’m talking freebie seconds that don’t see the light of market or CSA boxes, never mind the perfectly imperfect organic products that end up on your kitchen counters. As many previous employees and folks currently involved in the farm would agree, Brett is more than just a boss, he is also a mentor and teacher, and continues to support his people in all walks of life. While his expectations of work ethics to some are high, most understand this is a part of the unergonomical career path called farming, and Brett does a phenomenal job of making accommodations for all of his workers of all abilities and disabilities. In contest to any negative review left here, the very first questions in the screening process of his employees is that they are accepting of all folks in the LGBTQ+ community, and that politics/religion/personal affairs are left at home, in order to maintain a welcoming and professional environment for all involved on farm.Thank you Even’ Star, keep on veg’ing!

Brett is a farmer by trade, a scientist in practice, and a downright wonderful human being. My girlfriend worked for him for 6 months while we spent a short time living in St. Mary's county. We didn't know anyone when we moved there, but Brett introduced us to a vibrant community who we now call lifelong friends. He is a wealth of knowledge and knows just about everything you would hope a farmer knows; from soil science to the needs of his customers. The CSA boxes are packed with produce of brett's own organic cultivars. I love the figs, peachy mama peppers, and arugula. My favorite product Brett and his employees prepare are the gorgeous bouquets, which my Girlfriend would bring me from time to time. Attached is a photo of one of brett's flower fields last summer.

Even' Star Farm has been the best place I have ever worked. Brett is a father-figure to everyone that passes through; the endless knowledge gained from him and the farm is one thing, but the feelings of peace, joy, and belonging are difficult to capture with only words. Seeing and tasting the produce we grow is always a quality experience - and the magic of being involved in their harvest makes it that more magical. Please visit the market if you value quality organic produce, and sign up for the CSA!

My 10 year old daughter and I love Even Star Farm. Every time we have visited the local market we look for them first. The employees always have a smile, answer questions and help us decide what to get... We have not been steered wrong a single time. I highly encourage visiting them, you won't be disappointed!!

Incredibly open and inclusive space, providing not only the best organic produce around, but a solid community for anyone who needs one.

Even' Star provides the best produce in St. Mary's County. You don't have to worry about harmful chemicals or lack of nutrition from overfarmed soil. Brett is so hard working and kind, especially to those who don't always feel welcome elsewhere.

Sad to see a bad review here, some folks are not cut out for this kind of work.Worked here for over 3 years, from summer 2019 to winter 2022. I dearly love this place, the wonderful food, and the hardworking people who work here. Brett & Christine gave me a home when I hadn't one, and have treated me like family. This is the only place I have felt completely at ease working as a trans person, they have been great allies to me. I've gained lifelong friends in my time there, and a crippling addiction to good food. Love y'all!

The farmers, animals, and flora are the best in the county. The people are welcoming and passionate, streaming from the head Farmer Brett down to his employees. The employees work so hard and diligently, I never mind the extra dollar charge for them picking melons and berries in their bare feet! You won’t believe how smart, creative, and careful this farm is with their products. I’ve never worked at even’ star officially, but the majority of my friends and loved ones in the queer community in southern md I’ve met from connections at Even’ Star. They are so accepting of ALL opinions and perspectives. This farm is more than a work place or a field for food production— it’s a home, a birth place, an oasis, and the best place to breathe. They are so welcoming, my partner and I were invited to Brett’s family Thanksgiving Dinner when we were in lockdown and had no family or friends to be with. Nothing but love, loyalty, and admiration for Even’ Star and all their bounties
