I hired Jim's company to replace all of the front windows on my 1886 row house in DC (see before/after photos -- before is white trim and after is black trim). This was a somewhat complicated project because the previous windows were the wrong size for the openings in the brick, which meant that in addition to replacing the windows all of the openings had to be resized (requiring demolishing and reconstructing the drywall and trim on the interior).
Jim carefully planned the project, first doing some exploratory work before providing a complete estimate for the work. He secured the needed permits, which was pretty quick since he has a good relationship with the historic preservation office in DC.
Jim's crews did an excellent job with every component of the project, from the window installation to the trim work on the interior to the drywall and painting work. They also created historically appropriate lunettes to install above the windows.
The project involved a good amount of interior work, and the workers were always respectful of our home (covering everything and putting down material to protect the wood floors) and cleaned up at the end of each day. It made living through a construction project tolerable.
Jim was responsive throughout the planning and execution of the project. I highly recommend working with him and he will definitely be my first call for future projects.

I recently hired J.F. Meyer Construction to remodel a rental property, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.

Jim is down to earth and does a professional job. He replaced a wood floor for me with reclaimed heart pine--just beautiful. You can trust him with a key to your house, and he will finish on time and on budget.

We had a great experience working with Jim and his crew. We had just purchased our home and needed the entire main floor and upstairs to be painted prior to moving in. Jim was able to accommodate us within short notice and his crew worked diligently and effectively over the course of 3 days to complete the job. It was especially critical that the work be completed timely as we had scheduled for the floors to be refinished after the painting. They were clean and meticulous with the work, making sure that all repairs to walls were done prior to painting. Everything we requested was executed exactly as we wanted and the communication was great and timely. We highly recommend J.F. Meyer for your home projects.

I have used Jim Meyer’s services for over 20 years. He has repaired and painted the exterior and extensive woodwork on my 100 year old stucco house. His company has rebuilt my front steps and installed oversized half round gutters with rain chains. The most recent project was a full first floor paint job including the expert patching of the ceilings and walls where my electrician took out the old knob and tube wiring. I had gaping holes in the original plaster that were repaired in a way that blended seamlessly. I trust that Jim and his team will always do an excellent job.Services: Paint indoors
