This is the second time I've gotten pasta salad from the deli and the noodles aren't cooked all the way. I literally gagged. At $9 a pound your noodles in your pasta salad should at least be cooked through. Disgusting!

Coming through the checkout line, the girl at the cash register was more interested in chatting with her fellow girlfriends at work then she was in greeting me. Customer service is a lost art, and the only way it happens is if it is trained by establishments. Safeway in Middletown has failed to teach customer service skills to its employees. Just a simple "good evening, how are you?" Would be such a welcome change from being ignored throughout the transaction until I had paid when she finally said "thank you"

These poor people deserve a raise. Most of the employees work 6 days a week, and they are there all hours of the day. They look over worked and tired. Most will help you with a smile, even though it's not the area they are suppose to be in . I've had a few help me when they are walking out of the door to go home (when they couldn't just as easily walk right past and go home) The employees here work harder then the management in the store.

Horrible customer service stood in line for 10 mins only had 2 items and clerk decided to close his register when it was finally my turn sending me to another register with a line already formed...very unprofessional would of took 2 seconds for you to check me out after I already waited a while instead I had to wait behind other people who literally just lined up because you opened a new register

VERY DIRTY. no covid precautions, rude service, many lines. People trying to go to the cashiers with masks, so lines for them are really long. No line for the maskless cashiers. sticky floors and broken freezers full of spoiled food. It used to be good, now AVOID.

There is never anyone at the service desk. Every time I need assistance, I stand at the desk and hope an employer walks by willing to search out a manager or someone on staff that can assist me. My wife has had the same complaint over the years and it's become somewhat of a game to walk by the service desk and see who's working it... And hand to God, I can count on one hand how many times we have seen someone behind the desk. Today, I waited for help... A woman working the cashier station called to me and said she was the only one who could help me but she had a line. My wife was shopping so I thought... Let's see how long it takes for her to get to me... I waited there from 5:39 to 6:12 ... My wife said something to the young man about me waiting at the counter for the entire time she shopped. The woman who said she was going to come help me said "I was going to go help him but I had a long line"... She came over a minute or two later... It took less than two minutes to help me... Yet I had to wait 33 minutes... While I stood waiting, the phone rang 3 separate times ... No one answered it...

My family has been looking for an alternative to Weis Markets, because Weis doesn't take wearing masks and social distancing seriously. Based on my recent visit to this Safeway, we'll keep looking.I went right when they opened at 5 AM on Monday and it didn't seem like a store where customers were expected. The specials that were supposed to start that day were nowhere to be found (no signs up for them, items missing entirely). Strike one.The produce department was filthy, missing bags, and had low-quality produce like carrots and mushrooms literally rotting in their bags. Strike two.I could not even GET to most of the meat department, because there was a big group of employees, plus all their carts and boxes, blocking most of it. I wasn't going to risk my health by trying to get by. Strike three. Although this would normally be "and you're out!" I didn't have the time or energy to give up and go elsewhere later in the day. So I continued shopping, unfortunately.Strike four is the higher prices for items we commonly buy elsewhere. For example, Red Baron pizza, which is normally somewhere between $3.19-$4.19 elsewhere ($3.99 at Weis) was inexplicably $5 something here. Same thing, more bucks, which makes no sense since Middletown store expenses would be lower than Frederick. Ditto much of the produce.I was unable to get some of the usual brands my family uses, but I was initially happy that they had free range eggs. But when using them later, I discovered that the yolks were pale yellow (in real free range eggs during the summer, the yolks are orange or bright yellow) and the flavor was mediocre. The only reason I am giving this place two stars instead of one is because they were open earlier than anywhere else (albeit the staff need to be trained how to NOT BLOCK THE MERCHANDISE for early customers) and because I was able to find the Dietz & Watson sliced turkey lunchmeat my mom likes here. The checkout employee was also quite nice. But that's not enough for me to return. The search for a decent supermarket continues...

This store will never return. I got some coconut water from there today and got home it had so much mold in it. I also was trying to get chicken wings and they were all old. Never again will return there. The people in the store needs to get there Serv safe certificate for the employees. Will never return.

As a shopper with Instacart, I have the opportunity to visit many different food stores. The Safeway in Middletown is one of the best, in terms of convenience, cleanliness, and service! Often times, while shopping, I need assistance to find certain items. Today, an employee named Dawn helped me find several things that were in tricky locations. For the last of those, she was especially helpful as, believe it or not, eggrolls are found in different places within the frozen food section! Who would've guessed? So without her help, I would not have been as successful in my shopping today. Thank you guys and gals, and please keep up the great work!

I like some of the deli items better than competitors. The roasted chicken is great. Also like the prepared dinners at the deli area. Friendly staff, I have not had the issues as these other reviews and I stop in this Safeway once or twice a week.

I go to this grocery store out of convenience only. It's frequently understaffed and I have noticed in many occasions expired items on the store shelves.
