The perfect bank does not exist. It is a competitive industry. I have at times been the CEO of companies with perhaps as many as 40 employees in three states over 40 years and as such have a lot of dealings with a lot of banks. This one is the second best of many and best locally. If there is a problem, it should be dealt with in a calm, patient manner. The grass is not greener at the next bank.

We have been with First United for probably 20 yrs....We have always been treated as special customers each time we deal with either the Smithsburg, MD branch or the main office in Oakland. It used to be "My Bank" and to me I tell everyone that "It is still MY BANK"......

I've always been treated kindly and with respect when banking at locations in Cumberland, Grantsville and Oakland. Staff have gone out of their way to help and answer my stupid questions and I'm always grateful!

Debit card transactions take days to show up on your account. Customer service, while friendly, cannot seem to answer anything on their own. Almost every call, barring address changes, seem to require someone to call you back the next day.
