Make sure you check your receipt before you leave. Several times now things have rung up at incorrect prices in their favor.

It's relatively clean, and has decent stock. Sells beer and wine. It's one of the nicest Safeways in the area. Prices are very high.

If you have a disability I would definitely avoid the store. Since contracting long covid two years ago I have a cluster of strange symptoms which makes the store impossible. For example they have a wonderful covered garage underneath but the elevator has not worked in over a month. If you cannot do the stairs which I cannot then you have to get back in your car and park in the front. A sign app the entrance to the parking lot telling you the elevator is broken would be nice. Next, the checkout line had only two working lanes with long lines and no baggers. I cannot use the self check out so I asked an employee to open a lane which he did. I then asked another employee to load my car which he did. There seemed to be a number of employees standing around the customer service area who could have opened additional check out lanes.
Third, discriminatory pricing. In order to get some of these deals you had to have a smart phone an app and know how to use them. Believe it or not not everyone can can do this. Therefore you will pay more on many items. Safeway is not the only grocery that does it giant does as well but their overall customer service is much better.
If you do not have disabilities and a lot of time Safeway has great beer and wine and they're overall selections are good and they have the best beef around. If this is you I would give it four stars.
I live the majority of my time in Southwest Florida where the grocery market is dominated by publix. Publix has plenty of checkers with baggers so you get in and out of there fast no matter how many cars are in the parking lot. And being in Florida all stores and beer and wine. This is not a recommendation to shop there or to move to Florida full-time.
My pic for convenience in Olney is Harris Teeter specially if you have disabilities. The parking lot is flat unlike giant which otherwise is a good store.
I know this sounds picky to a lot of people and I get it. None of these things would've bothered me two years ago.
As a great American philosopher Stone Cold Steve Austin said, that's all I'm gonna say about that!

They are listed as a drop off location for FedEx but they refused to scan the QR code that was given to me by FedEx for drop off locations

The store is big and clean, friendly staff. Typically well stocked. That statement was from 3 years ago when I moved here. Today may have been my last visit. Every time I come here lately I feel I am an inconvenience to the employees. The prices are outrageous and if you have a problem and bring it to their attention, they blame you. Not anymore Safeway, not anymore.

This will be my final visit to a Safeway. The 'just 4U' and 'clipped coupons do not work and for months I never noticed. So I have been going to the service desk my last 5 or so visits, wasting my time to have the coupons applied. This time the employee insisted on checking the signs in the aisle, even though I took a picture on my phone. Never had these issues at Giant or Harris Teeter...the disrespect of having to see the label on the shelf...as if my picture was fake, that is the final insult. I am sure Safeway can careless...check your receipt closely as I never noticed.

Decent grocery store and nice beer and wine selection but I am disappointed time and time again with the unfriendliness of many of the staff members (with the exception of a few good ones)

Clean store, confusing layout, some friendly and helpful ladies working there, manager and stock guy couldn't be bothered. Rosemary & garlic rotisserie chicken would be the only reason to shop there over Giant nearby

I ordered items I needed at 3 pm on Dec. 31, 2023 for a new year's eve party, and Safeway promised to deliver it between 8 and 9 pm. After waiting till 11 pm I requested Safeway to cancel the order. With no confirmation of cancellation, I requested again at midnight to cancel the order and was given a confirmation number. Now, at 5:30 am on January 1, 2024, I am awaken by a call from a driver saying he is at my door with the order. How many things in the chain of the delivery system would have to go wrong for Safeway to ruin the end of 2023 and start of 2024 like this?? It's amongst the worst customer service I have ever received. I have been a loyal customer for decades and tolerated many errors in delivery in the past but I will now take my chances with Harris Teeter. No way anyone could serve me worse than you just did.
