Our recent visit to the Southern Ave location was a positive one. I believe honesty is always the best policy so when the young man explained the situation of being understaffed on Monday’s and Tuesday’s we couldn’t be more thankful to him for letting us know upfront of the situation, and therefore our expectations were met. When we arrived, the clock on the door indicated the time he was expected to be back and sure enough he was back on time. In addition to him being very pleasant he also had great Customer Service skills assuring me, we’re heading in the right direction with having our valuable items stored and managed properly. Thank you!!

I've been renting from this location for 4 or 5 years. Once it was sold by Easy Storage to Self Storage Plus I've begun to see things going bad. From the front gate to the facility not working, the doors to get to my unit not working to the elevators not working and sometimes both the doors and the elevators not working. I live an half hour to forty five minutes away and I can't come by everyday to find out what's working and what's not. I talked to someone in the office that didn't want to hear my concerns and he hung up on me. What really grinds my gears is that my monthly payments have gone up and I still can't get access to my storage. I'm hoping that someone from the corporate office contact me so we can work out a solution that would satisfy me and the company.

This is the worst storage place I have ever rented they charge you fees that should not be charged. I’m being charged for rent insurance and I have my own renters insurance and I show that I have renters insurance they charge me for my storage bin went from $95-$157 And I’m asking him why and I’m general manager never calls me back. I go up into the store, he’s never there. No one can help me the place is the worst place I’ve ever use and I do not recommend using this place.

Do NOT rent from here! I prepaid for a 30x10. I got to the unit and it was half the size. I end up having to go to another storage place. This place was supposed to refund my money since the unit was not the right size. It’s 16 days later and I’m still waiting for my money! Do NOT rent anything here!

Absolutely DO NOT recommend renting a storage unit here. The cleanliness and management is awful. Don't be fooled by the high ratings. These were incentivised and this location was actually decent with good management before it was taken over by Self Storage Plus.
The biggest issue is that this place is infested with mice and rats and your belongings will be covered in droppings and things will be chewed to shreds no matter how clean your own unit is. The walls inbetween units don't go all the way to the ceiling so rodents can come and go through anyone's unit. We spent days cleaning, hauling away & throwing out a large portion of our belongings that were trashed. Multiple other neighboring units had the same issues in theirs. The cleanliness of the place has gone downhill; towards the end every time we would show up, the hallways were always dirty and littered with rodent droppings that were just mopped and pushed around but never actually cleaned up.
The next biggest issue is management - if you have any issues with anything like payments; good luck. We initially signed a lease under Extra Space Storage before it changed over to Self Storage Plus. Our contract should have been honored as we were not required to sign a new one. Per the contract, it states, "If customer's notice of termination includes a date of termination that is to occur during a future Rental Month, Operator shall prorate the Monthly Rental Charge wherein termination occurs". The manager told me they "don't do prorates" and would not honor the contract that we had signed. I was told he would contact the district manager to discuss and I would receive a response back. After multiple emails and phone calls trying to follow up, I never received a response back, other than him "liking" one of my emails. This issue was never resolved and I was charged an entire month's rent of $370, when the prorated amount should have been $95.48.
The next issue is the gate system. It should be a fully gated and secure property where you enter your pin to open the gate entrance. However, for months and months they had a manual gate that they left open all day so anyone could come and go as they please. I was even kicked out early one time before the ending gate hour of 6pm because they needed to close and lock the gate early. So don't rely on a secure location.
Don't be lured by the cheap rent or special offers here- we were and not only is it not worth it for all of the issues, but our rent significantly increased over time.

I came to see about getting a storage unit and the store was closed! It is 4pm and the website says it closes at 6pm. There was no sign on the door and the lights were on but no one insight. I called and no one picked up. I'm literally outside writing this and with this experience already, I'll take my business elsewhere.

If I could give less stars, I would. DO NOT STORE YOUR BELONGINGS HERE. Storage units are routinely robbed. I think people are living in the storage area as well. I was told by staff that the owner does not care and I believe it, because despite the robberies and individuals violating rules and policies (walking in without entering a code, loitering on the property etc.) no security measures have been taken, they simply increase the amount of insurance the customer pays. It is the most unsafe option you can choose. Do NOT store your belongings here.
