Great customer service and pet care. Staff is knowledgeable and does not pressure you to purchase additional items for pet care. They offer a wellness plan for puppies that covers 1 year of shots and 6 months of nail trimmings. They also offer training classes. A variety of free treats are available for pets in the lobby. Lots of cheese wiz and peanutbutter are available to help distract the pups during immunizations. Clean and well kept center. Our pup always gets excited when we pull up.

Had my first experience with VCA and I have to applaud them! Immediately upon walking in you see how beautiful their facility is. Very warm and inviting, let alone clean. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our doctor was Monica Capella, DVM and she was extremely kind and knowledgeable.Having a hedgehog, it’s not an extremely average pet haha. She had all of the knowledge and finesse needed to assure me that I had the right doctor for my little girl.Admittedly we waited a bit too long to bring her in to get her nails trimmed. One was a bit too long and started growing inward. She did not make us feel judged at all and handled everything perfectly. We were sent home with great information and assurance that we can schedule any additional services whenever we want and not everything had to be done that day.I really appreciate all of the amazing customer service, knowledge, and care!

We lost our cat Lucy yesterday and I wanted to give VCA doctors/techs/staff the props they deserve. Lucy was a complicated old girl with a lot of organ issues. VCA doctors spotted the kidney disease quickly, and then diagnosed the triaditis she had quickly too. The dietary changes based on these diagnoses gave Lucy 10 more months of comfortable happiness. Special shout-out to Dr. Dvorkin for not only diagnosing the triaditis but giving us an aggressive treatment plan that got Lucy up and running fast. I'll always remember how she bounced back and was really happy/comfortable.The only thing I'd say as a constructive criticism is that, either by training or Calvert philosophy, there's a lot of emphasis on doing extensive testing before treatment options are discussed/given. At times I felt like I wanted to the doctors to tell me what they could offer with the available information instead of pushing for the unequivocal blood/urine/metabolism testing. To their credit, when asked to make suggestions without further testing, they will. Thanks everyone for taking care of our old girl. Sleep tight Goose!

Front desk staff were helpful and got us in next day. Doctor is awful. More concerned with her sales pitch than with listening and caring for animals. We came in to have our dogs skin looked at as well as his eye. Our dog was sent home with some over the counter skin mousse and nothing for his eye. This was last Wednesday. Today (Monday) we took him elsewhere because nothing had improved and his skin and eye were actually worse. Antibiotics were needed for both his skin as well as his eye. I cannot recommend this animal hospital to anyone who actually cares about their animal. The doctor had a one track mind and that was to sell anything and everything she could. Run away. $200 wasted. We gladly paid a new vet today to ensure Sammy was cared for.

They really care about your pets, and are very knowledgeable! They have helped us come up with a treatment plan that fits our budget for our kittens who have been having some odd medical issues. They follow up via text, so if anything comes up unexpectedly you can simply text them your question(s). Follow-up care instructions can be found on the app, where you have a profile for each pet, is very convenient!

Tried them about 6 years ago , wasn't confrontable with them . They aren't very friendly or compassionate. Care was ok , wait was not and you can't pay the way you want.

Ashley, as always, amazing. Everyone there is so happy and you can tell they love animals. Not pushy for treatments or meds. Prices are fair. Boomer, my Boston, loves coming here. They meet you out front and you immediately feel comfortable inside. Love this place!

I don’t know where to begin to describe the absolute magnificence of this veterinary practice! They are a group of caring and loving people; each and every one of them. They have been taking care of my sisters’ cat for years and are now servicing my sister as well. My sister has dementia and is a real challenge to not only her family but to Dr. Calvert and her staff BUT they are handling this trying time with grace, love and integrity. I thank you Dr. Calvert and your entire staff for all that you do! I am in awe of this practice!!

Edit: It is March 2023 and Stanley is still going strong. I have attached new photos from our recent trip to Florida. Stanley has been doing great for a long time and is no where near death like this hospital claimed.I was delayed in writing this review for personal reasons. But I can strongly suggest going to another VCA hospital. I paid $700 for supplies and blood work. The blood work was clean and the doctors and vet assistant wanted me to shell out thousands more for a cat they said might died soon. Also, the ladies who were attending to Stanley were shady. They kept checking the microchip of my newly adopted cat and talked about how much they wanted to keep him. So which is? Is my cat dying or are you trying to steal him?In the end, Stanley is doing amazing. I am not sure what caused his illness where he was vomiting for four days. All of the medication didn't work. Stanley is a super friendly cat who loves everyone. But he hated these ladies with good reason. He lets me brush his teeth and cut his nails with no issues. When the ladies tried to exam him, he attacked them because they didn't have his best interest at heart.Today, my chubby little 7-year-old cat is living his best life. He eats sensitive stomach dry cat food and eats regular wet patties with no issues. I feel like this location was a waste of money and time. They took two hours because they kept trying to confirm Stanley was rightfully my cat even though I had documentation from Animal Control confirming he belonged to me. Also, the vet assistance was always rudely over talking and the vet was literally writing Stanley off as a cat who could have all these deadly diseases and they told me stories of owners finding their cat day within a day. This location is not the place to go at all.Well, Stanley is here to stay and regain the pounds he loss from that incident. I am still not sure what caused it but he has been improving since I went to this location nearly a month ago. I will visit another VCA hospital when I need assistance in the future. He is a holiday miracle who gets nothing but the best from me.

My 6-month stint with VCA Vet Center left me feeling utterly disappointed and frustrated. While their services were commendable and reasonably priced, I can't give them more than 3 stars due to their appalling prescription policies. As any responsible pet owner knows, it's always a good idea to explore cost-effective medication options that don't skimp on quality. And that's precisely why online pharmacies like Chewy are such a godsend - they save you hundreds of dollars while ensuring your pet gets the best care. However, when I requested VCA's receptionists to simply scan and email my prescription, they outright refused without offering any explanation. They insisted that I get a written prescription from them and physically mail it myself. Is this some sort of archaic rule set by higher-ups, or are the receptionists just too incompetent to handle basic tasks? In any case, this shoddy policy-making and untrained staff have cost them two stars in my review. To add insult to injury, I'd have to repeat this cumbersome process 12 times a year, given that my pet needs medication every month.VCA's lack of cohesiveness and transparency has made me reconsider my loyalty to them as a client. It's appalling that they'd refuse to offer speedy services when there are several technological solutions available. All in all, VCA Vet Center needs to do better - much better - if they want to retain their customer base.VCA, if you're thinking of responding to this post to save face, please don't waste your breath. The damage has been done, and it's on you to work on fixing issues as they arise instead of trying to do damage control when it's too late. You've already lost a client, and that speaks volumes about your poor policies and team.

I’m writing this review in a rage due to what happened. VERY expensive, VERY unhelpful and most importantly, VERY uncaring. I visited here in hope of finding my rabbit the help he needed and later that night I was left with a dead rabbit and a $500 vet bill. And not only that, after I left them a message saying what had happened I received no answer. DEFINITELY would not recommend.

IF YOU LISTEN TO ONE YELP REVIEW, LET IT BE THIS! Only go here if you want to be robbed of your money. I spent $564 for my 16lb dog to have well check plus rabies/bordetella/canine influenza shots. THAT IS UNREASONABLE. And, to add insult to injury, they charged me an additional $$ for the canine influenza booster. I do not know how clearly I can spell this out: THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FAIR PRICES.

I can’t thank Dr. Dvorkin and Keeley enough for their patience with my cat. He is always combative at the vet and I typically leave vet appointments embarrassed and dreading coming back. They were very understanding and took their time trying to make him comfortable. I was even allowed to wait with him in the car until they had a room ready for him so he wouldn’t get more upset around other pets in the waiting room. Everyone was kind and didn’t judge me at all for my grumpy cat. Thanks again!

I recently adopted a dog with a lot of unresolved health issues and started going to VCA Calvert. Everyone there is amazing, from the vets to support staff, and give such great attention and care to my pet! They go above and beyond in all ways!
