I appreciate the staff who work here. Everyone is very friendly and have been very helpful with dealing my dog when he had an issue with puking. The doctor did not overcharge us for extra tests, spoke to us in a candid manner, and honestly had our wallets and best interests at heart. My dog is fine, turns out a lot of his puking was coming from just how he eats (He is a larger/taller breed and a slow feeder, elevated bowl was needed for his esophagus. So food can get to his stomach a bit more easily.), but it was good to know the vet was always available if we needed him. Definitely sticking with this group for all my pet needs, they have your back at the end of the day, and it shows in their effort.

We found a sick kitty at work today and they were the closest vet. Everyone was very friendly and could see us right away. The office is clean and the vet and the vet tech were detailed in the instructions and the prices were reasonable.

So I decided to give this place another chance, based on the fact that I had generally been satisfied with the care my dog had received before the incident that caused me to stop coming. I called the day before my visit to ask whether the fecal sample I'd been asked to bring was necessary, given that my dog wasn't sick and simply needed some shot updates. I was immediately forwarded from the front desk to the supervisor, who checked through her notes and mentioned that she saw that I'd been disappointed with the care I'd received during my previous visit. I asked whether the notes mentioned the basis of my disappointment, and she said that all they mentioned was that I acted disappointed and wrote a Yelp review about it. Again, I was sorry to see that what they cared about was not the problem with my initial visit, but merely that I was now considered a liability because I'd dared to complain publicly about it. The supervisor was all too happy to forward me my dog's records and agree that I should take her somewhere else. All I can say is that at no time, at least in my estimate, was I impolite, indecorous, or nasty. I simply asked questions and expressed disappointment when the answers to those questions were either skirted or unsatisfactory. For that I was apparently labeled a liability and shunted along to another vet. It's too bad, because as many of the other reviews note, Dr. Sundar is an amiable, intelligent man and a good vet -- one I'd had no previous problems with whatsoever. It was just that when something did come up, rather than address it in a constructive way they chose to react defensively rather than admit error. To me that says that the culture of the practice is off, however charming and competent the actual veterinarian might be.

I am not crazy about this place, and feel terrible giving it three stars. I do want to note, that I have friends who go here that love the place so please do not take my comment negatively, you may certainly have a different experience, and so I recommend still giving it a shot. Long story short. One kitty got sick, then gave it to my other kitty. Took them both in on separate occasions to get treated. They both responded well to the meds, and both recovered well from their illness. What turned me off was how unorganized the process was :(. I brought in fecal matter for both of my kitties. They then asked me to return in a few days to check the status and get the right meds. So I did... When I returned, the doc said to me regarding one of my cats something along the lines of: "I did not test the fecal matter. I thought it was another cat's fecal, and did not do the right testing. However, I know who you are, and assuming she has what the other cat has, take this!" And gave me a medication for my cat. It just rubbed me the wrong way. What if it wasn't what my kitten had? What if it was more serious? I just didn't like how unorganized the process was :(. I also didn't like the explanation for my kitten getting sick in the first place. I learned it was a common occurrence among kittens by watching Animal Planet when someone walked into the vet with the same symptoms that my kitten had. Yes, the meds ultimately worked and both my cats are feeling better. But perhaps it is my self diagnosed OCD that turned me off from this clinic. Also, I just don't like being asked to restrain my cats during procedures :(. I feel this should be done by the vet and a vet tech. Again, its still a nice and affordable place. Perhaps the doc was having an off day when I was coming in with my sick cats. Thus, I would still recommend the place, and give it three stars.

I've brought 3 pets here in the span of 2 years. 2 have since passed, since one was considerably old/ frail and the other unfortunately got suddenly ill and then passed away even with treatment. We feel that Dr. Sundar and his team did their very best to address all our questions. We feel our pets have and continue to get a thorough assessment each time.

My dog was put to sleep and we had her kept in a freezer at the vet. We had an open-casket funeral for her and the position that the people at the vet had put her in to Rest, was the most inhumane thing i've ever seen. Most people believe that people that work at the vet love animals, and that they give them the best care and do the best for them; but when we saw my dog in her casket we were all appalled. The position she was in looked like her neck was broken, her body was in such an uncomfortable and painful position. There were kids at the funeral and we tried our best to keep them away from seeing the casket because it broke all of our hearts and I'm extremely disappointed in how we received her from the vet. Our dog was such a playful, loving dog; and it was just HORRIFIC to see her the way she was. What an absolute NIGHTMARE. It's already hard enough for someone to lose their best friend, but that made it So much worse. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Very helpful and very kind, especially since in my case the news was not very good for my pet. They were also very helpful and did not charge us for a follow up visit, since we need to wait longer to really run tests again. I appreciate the Doctor's straightforward, but still compassionate, care, and honesty in the treatment--like not charging us for a visit that couldn't be productive.

I adopted a cat that was completely mauled and attacked by who knows what, took her into this establishment and within a month she was completely rehabilitated. She is now healthier then ever before! The people at this establishment are kind and warm hearted, and they did not make me feel any type of discomfort while there. Despite the conditions of my cat, the prices were affordable and the service was great. Do not let the building fool you, it is a little worn down but the people inside really make up for it. Definitely recommending this place to anyone who is looking for a vet, and will definitely come back.

Great vet. Honest, sensitive, and very knowledgable. Dr. Sundar is a very nice man, and he doesn't talk down to you. He was so kind when one of our cats was dying, but was not afraid to be honest and (tactfully) blunt with us. Have always been able to get a convenient appointment and have never been made to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. I don't think I've ever even been put on hold on the phone when I've called. Have been to many other vets who treated us like we were an inconvenience. Not here. They are very close to where we live but even if we didn't I'd still come here. As long as I live in the DC area I will never go to another vet.

We've been going to Riverdale Park Animal Hospital since it was Kenilworth Animal Clinic. Same building, new staff, same ethic. Dr. Sundar doesn't rush. The clinic's priority is to care for people, care for their animals, give them choices, respect their decisions. In sickness and in health, they've been great to us and our pets. Respectful, friendly, kind, and accommodating.

Wonderful care taken of my brood. The docs took great care of my Riley who had suffered a bite and had a nasty wound. Doc was great with her and she healed beautifully. Recently took 9 kittens for checkups and they were wonderful - helped us keep them healthy and well. 9 kittens were checked out - got Revolution and some meds and it was under $500 which was AWESOME. Thanks keep up the great work!!
