PLEASE READ: I found a wandering puppy in my neighborhood one evening, and took her to an emergency vet to check for a microchip. This chip was linked to Riverdale Park Animal Hospital. When I brought the puppy to Riverdale, the disrespect and lack of empathy I received from the vet tech was unbelievable. The vet tech quickly pulled up the owner's info, and told me this was the second time in less than 6 months this puppy had been found. I very politely and professionally expressed my concern for this puppy, seeing that it comes from a negligent home, and the vet tech just stared at me and provided zero empathy whatsoever. Her tone and demeanor was completely unprofessional, and quite concerning for an employee that works in this industry - you would assume there is some level and compassion for animals, but Riverdale completely lacks that. She then proceeded to tell me that the owner would be there in 2 hours to pick up the puppy, and that if I wanted to see the puppy made it home, I could wait in my car in the parking lot. I waited for 4 hours, which the staff was very much aware of, and not once did any of them say a word to me. After waiting for hours, I politely asked the staff to please update me once the puppy was picked up by the owner. They agreed, but of course never followed up. CONCLUSION: the puppy was surrendered to PG County Animal Shelter due to the negligence of the owner and the Riverdale staff not allowing me to care for the puppy in the meantime. It is now 3 weeks later, and the puppy is still waiting at the shelter and is up for adoption. Shame on Riverdale - I could not recommend a vet clinic LESS than this one.

Riverdale Park was a fine vet for my dog for annual check ups and things like that. However, I was very disappointed when my dog showed signs of cancer and the vet didn’t provide much assistance on steps I could take to keep him happy and healthy. My dog Wilbur had signs of lymphoma. The vet prescribed him prednisone which slows down the progress of lymphoma, but also makes it difficult to provide any other types of care that fight the cancer. When I asked the vet to provide me with veterinary oncologists in DC, he provided me with a vet that was based in Bowie, MD. I do not have a car and could not get my dog out there. For 2+ weeks, I felt like I was doing nothing to actually help my dog. I didn’t feel that there was much support from Riverdale Park. Thankfully I was able to schedule an appointment with an oncologist in DC on my own and Wilbur lived many more happy months thanks to the extraordinary care that the other clinic provided. I also did my own research and learned that Prednisone would make it difficult to provide other lymphoma treatments to my dog. Thankfully I didn’t not start Wilbur on the medication that Riverdale park provided because he responded exceptionally well to the treatment provided at the other clinic. If I had listened to the Riverdale Park vet, Wilbur would’ve died within a month or two. Thanks to the other clinic, Wilbur lived another 8+ months and was happy, healthy, and well cared for. Wilbur passed away in May and the vet team at the other clinic were so so so supportive. I cannot imagine how much more difficult it would have been to lose Wilbur when he was originally sick. Having a supportive verterinary team was so helpful for me and him.

I decided to try another vet due to costs and customer service and I am so glad I did. Incredibly friendly staff and reasonable prices. The veterinarian took the time to explain issues and possible scenarios. My dogs are old and require more care. I’ll definitely be bringing my dogs back.

For over a year they dealt with me and my chronically sick cat. They dealt with the calls asking if they had any cancellations so I could take her in. They always showed so much professionalism and care. Everyone there truly left a mark on me and my cat, through all her sass and attitude they knew she was just in pain. Danielle specifically helped me through it all, she didn’t just care for my cat, she cared for me as well. I currently foster and have to go to rescue partnered veterinarians and have realized how knowledgeable and professional this practice is compared to others. If I adopt again, I will be coming here. Attached is Lucy who became very well acquainted with everyone there during her short time on this earth.
