This apartment is ridiculous. I was asked to pay a holding fee $350 when I applied and told it was refundable. The next day, I was told that my application was not approved. After that, I spent a month asking them to refund the holding fee, but the email did not reply, so I had to go to the office to ask for it. And every phone call has a terrible attitude, always asking you to wait. I don't understand why such a service has a rating of 4?

My names Andy. I recently had the pleasure of residing in this exceptional apartment, and the experience was nothing short of fantastic. At first, I was nervous but then I stepped through the leasing agent door I was greeted by a wonderful associate named Jasmine. Her service was nothing short of amazing. She was able to answer all my question and actually brighten my day with some humorThe touring process was smooth and very informative learned a lot about the building and the management. The presentation was definitely a plus for me.The living spaces are thoughtfully designed, with ample natural light in the living area which is great for my plants. Washer and dryer. This experience was extraordinary

I moved here 3 months ago and while I like the apartment, my experience has been one problem after another. From appliances breaking, to dealing with the left behind odor of the previous tenants pets which was masked just enough to not be detected at move in. Just when management finally helped get the pet odor under control, I still have to overload my apartment with plugins, candles and air fresheners to combat the smell of marijuana that wafts in under my door in what is supposed to be a smoke free community. Enough is enough! I don’t smoke weed and should not have to deal with smelling it in the space I pay for. Management has to do better and stop making excuses like” if we don’t know who it is there’s not much we can do”. Get out of the office and walk the halls yourself and try harder to identify the culprits. Do random checks. Just do something! For what we pay in rent, we should be able to live in our own place in peace. This is supposed to be a community that’s comfortable for all its residents.

Jasmine was really awesome at making the move in process so smooth. Also, since there is a on site Verizon rep I was able to have internet service move in day which was amazing!

This community is located in such an amazing spot! I love how quiet, secluded and private it is from the hustle and bustle. Yet still super close to the highway so commuting has become easier and still super close to shopping/restaurants for everything I need. There are CityBikes (which you can rent) bicycles right in front of the building so that's been super fun to hop on and go for a ride in! Love this place!

Love this property!! The place is clean and the staff is very nice! The new Jasmine is a real one! I like her! The new manager Rebecca is super helpful too! No issues with the parking system, if you have a guest? Make sure you pick up a pass when the office is open. You don’t want your guest to get towed! Love the location, super close to the beltway. The community is quiet. Yeah there is a hotel there but it’s not that big of an issue. It was great living here! No complaints

STAY AWAY from Axis! The Leasing Office is horrible Rebecca is the manager and all she does is play her music with her door closed like she doesn’t wanna come to work! They can never remember my apt number or my name. The apartment building is trash it smells like wet dog the carpets have stains on them and the walls have different colors they don’t even match the color paint don’t waste your time here. They are not fixing any problems from the residents that are complaining

Don't be fooled by the 4 plus reviews below. They are likely doing some type of reward for current residents to help bump their stars.I can echo what Sean has written below. I lived her for 3 years and never gave this facility any issues but slowly saw the decline of these apartment. The door leading to the 2nd floor foot bridge that leads to the parking lot was always broken- like someone had intentionally had broken the lock. In the 3 years- several cars getting broken into, damaged, windows being smashed, the hallways often smelled like dog pee, people leaving dog pee in the elevators, mice running around on the floors, garbage pilled high-and even on move in day just issues. Garbage pilled all over the dock to move my stuff made it impossible to move- I had to have friends help me move things through the doors on the 1st floor instead. All this to say- SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE.Similar to Val's post about prorated issues and billing problems after moving out they've done the same to me. I left my apartment clean in good condition and they have nickle and dimed me for normal wear and tear (furniture marking the walls) which under Maryland law is not reason for keeping a security deposit. They misled me to believe I would not be charged any fees for moving out- even have the manager email which states I was not breaking my lease and still charged. I've tried reaching out to them and every time have been given the same shady response. That they've reviewed and everything is right with no real clear explanation. I've placed a BBB complaint and all that you can think of and I am currently in the process of pursuing legal actions to retain the money I paid them because I feared my credit would be harmed. Do yourself a favor stay away- they are unprofessional and are only kind when they are trying to get you to sign a contract or renew. I've yet to receive any clear explanation on how they came up with the prorate, assumed my security deposit, and why I acquired fees for moving out.

Unfortunately I too have had issues at this apartment over the last 4 mos. The property management team manages two properties in the area, Axis and Gaithersburg Station. They must be giving all of their attention to Gaithersburg Station because they are allowing current problems at Axis to fall by the wayside. Most recently the trash chute in our building went out. We were instructed that we would need to take the trash down to the trash bins and it should take about a week to fix. If I’m honest I’m still disappointed there is no valet trash but I digress. Well guess what, it’s now been a month and the leasing office has been quiet as a mouse. The property manager Rebecca got on our resident portal and mentioned Monday that someone would be here to fix the chute Wednesday and she would keep us updated on the status the same day. Honey we still haven’t heard from her.Now let’s talk the mail room. They use Luxer One for packages which on the surface seems nice but one you get into that room to get you package it is terrible!! No real organization, there are signs that instruct carriers where to leave packages based on apartment numbers but the chaos is ridiculous. The amount of times I have walked into the package room and witnessed a frustrated tenant because they can’t find their package, myself included is crazy. In our online portal many residents do share there issues. Based on that I am surprised the rating isn’t lower. Unfortunately the apartment experience as a whole is no where near a 4.2. Wayyyyy below. The truth is Rebecca and staff are not effectively managing this property and it shows. The communication around issues and concerns is disappointing. It’s sad cause I genuinely like my neighbors, my apartment (using the glass half full mentality) and the location. I have a chance to connect with the VP soon, so hopefully that will resolve some of these issues and frustrations caused by Axis.

Lived at Axis for 4 years and the first few were great (4-5 star rating) but have gone downhill FAST as of the last year or two. Mice/rats are regularly commented about online, dog feces everywhere around the property including on sidewalks, numerous break ins to cars parked in the monthly paid garage, which they just raised the price on but have 0 measures in place to actually keep your vehicle safe. No cameras, gates, etc. You'll see community notice emails about those topics, but nothing actually done about it, just empty threats of lease violation. The breaking point was our lease renewal. Don't expect to have a human conversation about rent increases, you'll be dealing with a corporate entity that does not care about its current residents and will not hesitate to raise rent over 20% from one year to the next. The amenities are nice if you don't mind shelling out $500+ for a couple hours of using the party room. All that being said, we cannot praise the maintenance team enough. They always fix problems in your unit quickly and efficiently and they would get a perfect review for the 4 years we lived here. Was a nice place 2ish years ago, but I'd look elsewhere for this price range. No signs of improvement just a steady decline over the last 3 years.

I've been here for almost three years now and am considering a move this fall when my lease it up. Not because I'm unhappy here, just for a change of location. I've actually enjoyed living here quite a bit.The gym is pretty awesome for a free apartment gym. I appreciate the built in water filter there and use it often. The staff have been great, including the new property manger. Overall the property is quite nice and well maintained. There is even an area with outside TVs and seating near the pool. Nice for working/reading outside even if it rains. My unit is pretty quiet and I even live in one overlooking the pool. It's a tad loud in the daytime in the summers but otherwise I don't hear my neighbors much at all. Just people walking in the apartment upstairs. However, I also haven't had neighbors with dogs or kids, which could obviously change things. There are two main buildings, each with a garage. One garage is attached to 9305, which is where the office is located. The other, attached to 9300 (my building and where the pool is), is a much larger garage. There have been several break-ins in both garages in the past few years, which seems to be a common and worsening issue in the general area. I don't think the problem is at all unique to Axis. There are cameras in 9305 but I'm not sure about 9300. The towing policy for guests is definitely enforced. I haven't any problems with parking other than accidentally getting a friend's car towed because I didn't pay attention to the policy. If you're looking at units here consider the amount of sunlight you'll get. I really like the apartment I'm in but sunlight is in short supply in the winter months. I imagine some units are better and some are worse. Same anywhere.in terms of what's around here.. There's a hotel right next to the complex. Also a bike rental location. About two blocks away there is a Dunkin and a beer store. Within about half a mile or so in either direction are plazas that contain a grocery store, Chipotle, a few Italian places, a Home Depot, Cava, Five Guys, several hotels, medical offices, a hospital.. A little farther (about 1.2 miles) are tons of shops and restaurants at Downtown Crown and Rio Lakefront. It isn't the most walkable of areas but still fairly walkable for adults. It's on Shady Grove Rd literally just off Exit 8 on 270. Shady Grove is a very busy road. I walk to the Safeway grocery store almost everyday and it's about one mile down Shady Grove.Honestly, my only minor complaint here is the way that renters trash the place occasionally with garbage in the garage, dog feces, not cleaning up dog pee in the elevators, etc. But that's relatively uncommon, thankfully. For the money, I think this place is about as good as anyone could ask for in the area. I'm happy here and wouldn't hesitate to rent here again.

Axis at Shady Grove has been an exceptional experience. I can confidently say that the staff at Axis has played a significant role in making my time here truly enjoyable. Their professionalism, kindness, and helpfulness have exceeded my expectations. Thank you Sean/Jasmine for your willingness to help in every way.

We have been living here since 2021 and can safely say we have had the most wonderful experience. Sean always goes above and beyond. Really, the entire staff is amazing and we are so thankful for your attentiveness. If I ever have an issue, concern or question, they are quick to respond and are very helpful. Our apartment is kept well with the fabulous maintenance team which addresses our tickets quicker than any other community we have lived in and they are so polite. Props to the team for consistency!

I just moved in a few days ago. I put in some service requests that I noticed needing some TLC. I was not expecting such a quick and thorough response. The guys came in and started work immediately and communicated through out the service. Which I truly appreciated since I have a small child and not knowing if I had to do anything else to make sure everything was good. That experience alone makes me very very pleased with my decision in moving into Axis!

The maintenance team did a great job repairing appliances in my apartment. They responded very quickly once the request was placed. The manager was very reassuring and kept me updated during the duration of the work. They were very polite, checked in frequently while the contractors were working, and made sure my apartment was in the same condition prior to them working on it.
