We recently closed on a house with Eastern Title and Settlement and had a WONDERFUL experience. The pre-closing process was seamless with an optional hybrid closing option that our lender approved. On our actual closing day, Ben - our closing agent - was so informative that I felt like we had a mini crash course in real estate closing documents. Would work with them again.

Eastern Title Company -Bethesda was simply amazing! My husband and I mid closing needed to change our title company and Eastern-Bethesda was recommended. Eastern Title made sure that our case was expedited, we closed on time, we as 1st time home buyers understood every single document, and they were understanding and accommodating with our work schedules. We selected Eastern Title because the realtor on the sellers side had suggested we use them. In the beginning, things were going fine, the processor was responsive, we were getting things done. But toward the end of our settlement, it became the most unorganized, chaotic process I have seen for closing on a home. A week before settlement, I sent an email to the processor asking to schedule the closing. When I received a response saying my processor was let go and they were reviewing my file, I was like okay. Didnt hear back for a day and a half- mind you I am now less than a week from closing. I spoke with my lender, and he too hadn't heard from the title company and they were not responding to his emails. From his perspective, the last they spoke, they stated they didnt have everything and we werent ready, which was completely false. I then called the processor where she had no idea what my file was, said i was missing information that had already been inputted and provided. Mind you we were 4 months into this, as we had to extend closing. we had to escalate the process to the escalation person named Tom. He basically told me that it was because they let someone go and that they were getting up to speed on the files. Well sir, I was less than a week from closing, if I didnt reach out, would you guys even be ready? Next I was told that I needed to contact my lender to get the money sent to the lender, which i know isnt correct. And my lender was like, who is this title company. They have no idea what they are doing. So once that was resolved by escalating yet again, I finally received wiring instructions. Next, they sent me the wrong wiring instructions. I was on the phone with the processor and she was reading the account information and it did not match the PDF that was provided an hour before. So then, in my mind, I am thinking am I even working with a real company? Had to Facetime with the manager to make sure all was correct. Even then,I had anxiety sending over that much money to people who cant even get their own wiring instructions correct. So, come the day before closing, Sunday, we are receiving texts from the realtor that we arent ready to close because they didnt receive the information from the lender - which is incorrect, because our lender was on his game. Had to continue to escalate and deal with that. Closing day came and we just pretended Sunday didnt happen. On closing day, our settlement attorney (notary) was half hour late to closing. They changed items an hour before closing, and he didnt have the correct paperwork. My lender set up a conference room, which my lender isnt really even supposed to be there, but he wanted to because of the shit storm that was happening. The settlment attorney asked the lender to print multiple copies of the documents. Next, during the actual signing process, it was like the settlement attorney had no idea what was happening nor what the documents were. It was slow, unprofessional and embarrassing. Lastly, the settlement attorney asked my lender to scan all of the paperwork so it was easier for him, and he didnt have to do it. My lender laughed because again he isnt supposed to be there, and that is the settlement attorneys job! What would of happened if we closed at the house? What were you going to do then? Ask me if i had a home scanner? I am absolutely embarrassed what this title company put us and my lender through. This was also not my first house or closing experience, but one I will remember. Not sure how this company has such good reviews. BEWARE!

Eastern Title was extraordinary…they handled a closing for a client of mine in NC…and not only did they save them an enormous amount of money, but it was all handled electronically, which turned out to be extremely efficient. I highly recommend!
