This one-star review is solely based on my experience with a particular employee, whose name is indicated on the receipt as “Eliasb.” I've encountered this employee not just once but four times already, and saw his interactions with customers while standing in line at the register. Unfortunately, I've noticed that the way he engages with customers seemed to vary significantly based on their race.“Eliasb” hardly uttered a single word beyond stating the total amount due, and he never even acknowledged customers' greetings if they weren’t white. However, he noticeably greeted and suddenly became exceptionally polite when customers were of the same skin color as him. Whether or not he realizes how obvious his actions are, it's disheartening to experience such biased behavior from someone in a customer service role. His conduct is unacceptable and detracts from the overall quality of service at this establishment.

Let's begin with the obvious. The Montgomery County, MD liquor system is widely despised by local residents because the country controls distribution and retailing. That means limited selection, consistently inconsistent levels of service in country stores, and a selection which varies which means you have no reason to be confident that they'll have the same items in every store. And if the country wholesaling system doesn't stock an item, you aren't going to find it in Montgomery Co.So, what's to say that's good. Well, there are some things. First, the prices are pretty good. You can find better deals at Total Wine, where selection is superb, but that's far away either in Virginia or miles away to the east in Maryland. The staffers can be surly or polite, depending on your luck or lack thereof. This particular store is close to downtown Rockville. I've seen customers who've been troublesome enough here to have the police called. There is convenient parking. Tastings can happen here on weekends if you have time and the inclination. Another oddity of the Mont. Co. control. This store doesn't have cold beer. I asked one time why that was, and the answer was that a business across the street sold it. Because I found that to be a ridiculous answer/situation, I decided it wasn't worth pursuing. It was also the case that the particular staffer I was speaking with wasn't in control of that. Finally, they don't "advertise" but the store can get unusual items (like a rare bourbon or something else) so if that's of interest, ask about it. There is a good selection of local products here from MD, VA.

I went on a Thursday evening around 6pm. The store was very clean, organized, well stocked & well labeled. The 2 employees that I saw working, answered all my questions, helped me find what I needed and couldn't have been more accommodating. The store wasn't busy so I'm only assuming that the store & employees would be just as pleasant if there were more customers. I like this location much better than when it was a little further south on Rockville Pike and you had to compete for parking w/ all the other businesses. Not anymore! The parking at the N Washington location is more spacious & accessible.

Large store with a great selection. Plenty of parking on both sides of the building. The staff is friendly and this is one of the easier MOCO ABCs to access.

They're very rude. I hate going to this store but it's the only store open the other one is being renovated. On more than one occasion I would wait in line the only person in line and employees would wait for a white person before they would come to the register. I said excuse me and would be ignored. Oh it's a black man and he's so rude as well(rolls his eyes) I would rather drive to DC because they don't want my money. I wasn't going to write this but 2 Spanish people and every black person that goes on here has the same reaction and it's not right. EVERYONE'S MONEY IS GREEN!! make a change it's not right

Large liquor y wine store. Great selections of vodka, whiskey y tequila.Unfortunately they don't sell much beer. Very strange conundrum in Maryland, that aspect of a limited beer selection.Still I like this place, especially for its friendly staff.

I found Meyer's Jamaican Rum here and made the most delicious rum cakes ever. Great prices and I didn't have to drive to DC to find liquor. Thanks Montgomery County for having this wonderful store here!

A county where you can only get liquor from or through the county government. That means some decent prices for liquor, but no real competition for wine because retailers have to buy it from the county. As a result, when I went to buy some La Vielle Ferme Rose, it was priced at $11.99 for a bottle that is $6.49 at Total Wine in Virginia (but sold out) and $8.49 at Calvert Woodley in the District (only 3 bottles available last I checked). So I bought some vodka and tequila on sald and skipped the Rose.
