I took my car in back in July with an overheating issue due to a busted coolant housing.
Which they allegedly repaired.
Only for the same problem, overheating, to rear its ugly head.
So back in it goes, paid them for the part they missed the previous time and labor and back on the road.
A couple more weeks, same issue.
And now they won’t return my calls.
So no, I do not recommend Joel’s.
Update.
Joel reached out, admitted to not receiving the messages that were left him, asked me to bring the car in.
I brought the car in only to be told now is not a good day and to come back another day.
I am not sure what Joel’s idea is of making things right, but this is not it.

I’ve had a great experience every time I’ve come to Joel’s Automotive. The team is professional, honest, and reliable. They take the time to explain what needs to be done and never try to upsell unnecessary work. The service is always done right the first time, and at a fair price. It’s hard to find a shop you can truly trust, but this one definitely stands out. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality auto care!

Small mechanic shop, car felt off and my regular big dealership told me it would be three weeks before they could see me. Joel told me to come drop off the car and a couple of hours later called to explain exactly what is needed to fix the issue. Price and service were honest and efficient. Got the car the same afternoon all fixed. Highly recommended

If I could give 10 stars I would. My wife's car was having an issue that the dealership mis-diagnosed and wanted to charge us for a complete system rebuild. I called Joel's and, within 5 minutes, he was able to diagnose the exact issue and part that needed to be replaced and was able to squeeze us that week. The repair was quick and easy, and when we picked up, Joel gave us a no-bs recommended preventative maintenance quote and showed me exactly what he was quoting, and even told me how to do it myself if I wanted. I recently took our vehicle back for the services he recommended and had another great experience with Joel and his shop. It's not common to come across a mechanic who not only really knows their stuff but is also extremely honest, and I will be recommending Joel and his shop to everyone I know.

Overall okay experience. Driver's seat got stuck after full reclination and brought it to Joel's on a whim because of a road trip that same day. They were nice and squeezed me in that day when I called. They told me it was a gear/motor problem and not to put it in full reclination again and charged for diagnostic fee. Same problem occurred a couple of days later due to a family member testing reclination to see if it worked (after I told them about issue), which it did, and then putting it at half of the full reclination to take a nap (thinking that it wouldn't cause the same issue at a minimal angle). Same issue arose and it got stuck before road trip back. I called Joel's to ask for a refund or a free diagnostic again because I didn't think it was a gear issue due to it occurring again without full reclination but Joel was defensive about how he told me not to recline it and that a refund isn't possible because he only charged a diagnostic fee and had told me it was a temporary fix because the actual problem was with the motor. I told him that if the diagnosis is wrong (which it was) then the diagnostic fee should be waived or a free diagnostic should be offered. Was willing to look at the car without a cost for two hrs and then he found out that it was a switch issue as the motor had no problem with it. Overall, was satisfied with the two hour rediagnostic for free but customer service was not the best. To their defense, the switch worked when I left the mechanic the first time and they told me to test it when I left. However, would have appreciated a more open-minded approach to the phone call and diagnostic instead of denying a refund from the get go and getting defensive.

I've known Joel for years, and he's always been honest with repairs. He will never overcharge you and give you false information. He carefully goes over everything before the work begins. Very decent prices compared to other shops. The entrance is a bit hard to find the first time. Just continue driving towards the back.

If you are looking for an honest mechanic who does good work, this is the place for you. I’ve been bringing my car to Joel for about 5 years, and I have two examples of why I’ll continue bringing my car to him.
First, there was a strange sound while I was driving a few years ago, and the mechanic I originally brought my car to sort of shrugged it off and told me to buy new tires. I took my car to Joel for a second opinion, and he identified the problem and told me the car wasn’t safe to drive until I fixed it. I hadn’t planned on car repairs, so he gave me a list of what needed to be fixed right away for safety, and what could wait a while longer. He repaired the urgent issue, and I could immediately tell the difference from how it was driving before. Maybe I would have ended up in a wreck on 270 if I had listened to the first mechanic instead of taking my car to Joel.
Second, I received a letter from the dealer last year about a potential issue with my car, so I brought it to them and asked them to check out a couple other items I’d noticed too. They kept my car for days and then said it would be nearly $2,500 to fix everything that was wrong, which maybe wouldn’t even be worth investing in an old car. Maybe I wanted to talk with someone from their sales team about buying a new car? I took my car to Joel, he explained what was necessary and what wasn’t, had MUCH MORE REASONABLE rates for all the repairs than what the dealer quoted me, and thus my car lived to see another day.

THERE SHOULD BE A THING FOR NO STARS. Couldn’t even get my car in the shop I called him and he was very rude wouldn’t even help me when I don’t know much about cars. I tried asking for a quote just for 2 things I need done and he started telling me all these crazy things about how I need to know specifically (like to the part name) what the thing was that needed to be fixed. How am I supposed to know that. I of course have an idea. But I’m not a car guy how would I know. He thinks everyone knows exactly what he knows and that is NOT how you do business, your supppsed to HELP the customer not yell at them through a phone just because someone doesn’t know much about cars. Be weary when you go here. They won’t get my business that’s for sure.
