There a couple of Taiwan cuisine in the area. I had visited this place twice in a month. The food was good enough, but I think I will try other places.

We traveled all the way to Rockville, Maryland to try Taiwanese cuisine at this restaurant and our mission was a success. The food tasted great, portions were generous, and the service was nice.

Taipei Cafe is kind of isolated on the Pike, but it's right across from the shopping center that has China Bistro and other Asian stores/restaurants. My friend and I had their Taiwanese fried chicken, beef noodle soup, and hamburger bun. I was looking forward to trying their soup dumplings, but the waitress said they only make the crab ones (opposed to the regular pork ones that are also on their menu). The fried chicken was super crispy and tender. The beef noodle soup broth is mildly spicy, but as someone who doesn't like any spice, I could tolerate it. I wish they had more vegetable options on their menu, but I'm glad I found this place! If you're looking for Taiwanese classics, this is the place!

Drove from Richmond to load up on Taiwanese eats. Asked Taiwanese in the area and this was the recommendation. Taipei Cafe is very low key. Clean and friendly. It's fairly priced and compared to what you get traditionally each plate is ginormous I guess to fit the American customer demands. I ordered two appetizers, a soup and a desert and it was A LOT! I had the meat pie, pigs liver, and soup with pork. For desert I had the shaved ice. They did a nice job trying to match the flavors. Recommended!

In our humble opinion, they have the best Taiwanese beef noodle soup and Fried chicken in town. The soup is rich and loaded with beef and spinach. The chicken is tender and flavorful. You got a good bang for your buck.

Service is a bit better. Foods is okay; however, their xi long bao, dumpling soup needs more work because the meat falls apart, and the wrap is not fresh, chewy.

It's not fancy restaurant but the food is delicious, the place is clean and the service was prompt. I love all the food that we ordered (sa cha beef, mei fun and garlic egg plant). And the price is really good. I wish we have one like this near where I live.Dietary restrictions: It's has plenty options for gluten free and dairy free friendly

Flavor: a little taste of Taiwan in Maryland! Really good dishes all around. Stinky tofu was great - milder stink, but key flavors were there with spicy sauce and veggies. Spicy beef noodle soup had nice dark rich broth. Classic rice, egg, meat had the great taste to it. Kids loved the dumplings. Presentation: classic and efficient... giant dry pot was great. Service: attentive and quick turnaround Seating: plenty! Can accommodate large parties. Friendly: very nice all around! Drinks: tea, soda, beer. Usuals to cool ya down when eating the spicy dishes. Cost: affordable/good prices for the fresh made and large dishes. Party of 9, ~$200 includes tip when large parties (we ordered a lot and took leftovers to go) Parking: plenty out front, free. Vegan / Vegetarian: yes some options (like stinky tofu) or other veggie dishes. Not so much Vegan.

Summary: Please dont go here.Upon entering the restaurant, the overpowering smell of the restroom was the very first impression we had. We still hoped the food to be good as many Chinese restaurants that appear dirty are known for their taste. But we should've got out in this restaurant. We ordered dry hotpot and Taipei burger. Both of the food was not good, and what we couldn't stand more was the sanitation. We asked for scissors to cut meat, but it was really filthy nasty. Also, the bathroom was really dirty. I would never return here, and I wish I didn't have such a terrible experience. We couldn't bear being there, so we left only having had few bites of food. Based on what we experienced, I hope they realize cleanliness and sanitation are important before someone gets sick.

Went early before the dinner rush and had 3 dishes that reminded me of the food my mom used to make. Delicious! Seems like a really nice family restaurant.
