Literally ran in for ice cream 2 minutes before they closed and got out before it was time. Self check out was quick and staff were still friendly despite my last minute shopping.

Every time I go in safe way they watching me like I am stealing n I go in there with my work uniforms on every time n work in the same shopping center n still be watching me I go to self checkout look over two or three employees standing there watching me and one time I was in there a employee point me out to a cop n the cop laughed at her n said he got money and he not in here stealing nothing….. if they don’t want black ppl in there all they have to do is say it

Pharmacy is a disaster. I was denied service and asked to not return for having my Maryland Concealed Carry Permit as my only form of ID.
I was unarmed and made no threats.
I have followed up with local rights groups to expose this safesways likely unlawful bias and discrimination of people they don't want doing business in their community.
This issue was reviewed by store manager Matt Kocky who failed to speak with me for at least a month after the incident and was then uneducated on the incident completely.
Corporate told me they did not need to see my ID in the first place, so I guess they were just trying to get out of more work from the start.
Avoid them like the plague. If it’s too late I recommend you reach out at : Safeway Legal Department, 5918 Stoneridge Mall Rd, 94589, Ca.
I know I sure as heck am.

My Mother was an upper level Manager for Safeway for years. She would be absolutely appalled if she had received the kind of service that we received today at the Severna Park Safeway. We did not see one smile or friendly face the entire time we were in the store. The staff, including our cashier, Megan, treated us as if we barely existed and seemed put upon because she had to wait on us. It was disturbing, and I felt very uncomfortable the entire time I was in the store. The absolute clincher was to enter the Starbucks line to place an order and have ugly looks from the baristas who were whispering behind their hands as we waited for our order. I will never purposefully enter this store again! I have never experienced such terrible customer service. You all need basic customer service training, because apparently, you all missed the HR onboarding training for customer service when you were hired. You upper level management needs to do their jobs and ensure that your customers are happy! You guys suck!

This email is to express my deepest disappointment with the Severna park location as well as the manager on duty- Kim. My daughter and I were doing our usual trip to your store just like any other week. We usually prefer to use the self check out lines- they’re usually significantly easier when you have a toddler in your hands. Today, for the first time in the 3 years we’ve been shopping at your location, we were told ( in a very RUDE manner by Kim) that the self checkouts are 15 items or less. Usually, this would be understandable and would not result in a customer complaint from my end, however the complete and utter disregard for a mother with a toddler in her hands, trying to get everything done is mind blowing to me. We politely moved to a register with a cashier, just to have to spend DOUBLE the time waiting for the girl to scan our items and then TOSS them on the belt.
I have a choice of 3 stores within my vicinity where I can shop, but have always chosen to shop your location. This might be reconsidered after my brief, yet so unpleasant interaction with Kim. The sense of judgement and lack of empathy on her behalf were extremely off putting.
Within my line of work I oversee 117 units, with staffs of 20-25 per unit. I do so for a federal institution on a federal property- I’m well aware of challenges and difficulties organizations have been facing when it comes to hiring and retaining good employees since the pandemic, so I always try to be extremely understanding when it comes to customer service. However, the attitude and rudeness I experienced today is unacceptable.
With all that said, I’m eagerly looking forward to hearing from you and what corrective action has been taken with the problematic employee.

Poor customer service, expensive items and I've tried twice to get the rotisserie chicken they guarantee to have until 8pm, picture taken at 6:15pm.

Make sure to check the dates on everything. Plenty of times I've unknowingly purchased expired food. I've even once not been able to purchase an item because every single item on the shelf was expired (it was a box of crackers or something- like 5-10 boxes). The people are nice. Carts are good. Convenient location for me). Not bad, about the same as other nearby grocery stores.

So I am redoing my review... Several years ago I gave this Safeway 1 star for many reasons at the time. However, I am changing my review to 5 Stars! They now go above and beyond to help regardless of the situation. It is still smaller and not as gourmet feeling as some other Safeway's but that's really not their fault that's corporate. The managers are very kind and listen and actually will do something if it's within their control whether it's a price change or one time my friend couldn't get a payment to go through when he knew we had money, it was at no fault of Safeway and still they remained calm pleasant and understanding. They tried 3 or 4 times for him to see if his payment would go through and they really didn't have to do that. The whole time they remained kind and friendly. Those are the ways now that they go above and beyond. There have also been times when the app or my phone number didn't give the discount I had signed up for within the app and the manager honors it. It's just all around a nice pleasant store with amazing prices. Deli people are always super nice and their salads and dips are delicious! In the past month I've gone to Giant and left Giant wishing I had gone to Safeway so that's how much they have improved. The reasons I would wish I had gone to Safeway over giant aren't the prices it's the customer service. Giant's is slipping and Safeway's is consistently improving.

Terrible bakery. Terrible!! My kids and I discussed and had an order placed, in writing, with the bakery manager several weeks before my daughters birthday. We went over every detail. Including the time and date for pickup, ALL in writing. My daughter was so excited to see her special personalized cake on her big day. I showed up at the scheduled time and was told they didn't have a cake. Never made it. Why? No idea. Can we make it for you tomorrow? No! Her party with all our family and friends is TODAY! Her birthday is TODAY! I could not believe it. No reason. No explanation. I'd like to say this has only happened once but several years ago I remember asking my mom to pick up a personalized birthday cake from there and they didn't have it then either. It's just crazy to me. CRAZY! Please. If you are reading this. DO NOT order a personalized cake for any special events from this Safeway bakery. This place is A JOKE! I had my child and husband jump in the car and go grab a cake from Harris Teeter instead.
