Came in for some cornrows as I was looking to change my hair up a bit. My braider was very talented and worked efficiently. I did not have to wait very long at all to get started. I've since gotten so many compliments on my hair! I'll definitely be back for another style sometime!

Waste of time. Started an hour past the appointment time my son was there. If you have time to sit around even if you have an appointment then go ahead. Can I give less than one star? Been there twice and same thing happened. If they didn’t want to do his hair then they shouldn’t agree to an appointment time.

I called at 11:57 and the individual on the phone told me to come by 1pm and I am so glad I went by far this braid shop is by far the best hair braiding experience I have ever had in my life.Tge woman Adele who braided my hair was wonderful if I lived in the area I would definitely make this my go to spit to get a professional look in a short time. The price was very reasonable and also the location is convenient for me as I am a traveling nurse and I need a local braider.Great job and if you have never been here then you are missing out on an excellent braider Adele.I love my hair braids are tight but my scalp is not hurting nor did she braid to tight around my edges.

A waste of time scheduling an appointment. They overbook and have you waiting and practically begging to her your hair finished after they start half of it so you can't leave. Then when you get fed up tell you they're going to cut your hair and send you into the streets after waiting for 4 hours. I was astonished. I thought I had found me somewhere good, but disrespect and callous attitudes don't fly with me. Learn how to treat people and have the nerve to be begging at the front desk for tip after you treat people like garbage. Learn some etiquette and get some proper business training.

Called on a Monday for a hair appointment the following Thursday. I spoke with Hawa and asked what day she was available and scheduled for that day at 10 am. I arrive and a hairstylist, NOT HAWA was ready to braid my hair. This was my first issue, and why I am giving it four instead of five stars. I asked for a specific stylist and was given the bait and switch. I did not know the woman's name and she did not know mine, she simply asked if I was there for knotless braids. I find it frustrating to call and schedule with a certain person to then not even see them the day of my appointment. I was told 160 for medium knotless box braids but then was told I will have to pay more after more than half my hair was complete. I replied I am not paying more especially because I was quoted by the person who was suppose to do my hair, and she was nowhere to be found. I brought cash based on my previous phone call. If I was to pay more, I should have been told when the person started doing my hair, not at the end. Besides that my hair came out amazing. My braids lasted 3 whole months. The entire process took at around 6 hours, which is not bad when compared to other shops Ive been too. What also was nice was that everyone had on a mask, and we were six feet from each other in the shop. There were only three people getting their hair done, so no more that ten people in the whole shop as a whole. A suggestion: if you do not like black gel ( I do not, my hair and scalp are sensitive) bring your own gel for them to use.

I am a first timer and didn't really know what I wanted or even what to ask for. The owner was very patient and gave great advice on what would work for my hair. My natural hair is "mixed chick", straight and thin around the edges, kinky in the middle so it took some work to get the braids going. I am so happy with how it turned out. I will definitely return next summer! And I am thrilled to see a thriving Black owned business in Kensington of all places.

Made a reservation for knotless braids and they turned out great. When I arrived I reminded them I wanted knotless braids, bra strap length, and showed a picture of how thick I wanted them. It took about 5 hours and cost $200 which included hair, great price in my opinion. I was originally quoted $180 but due to the small size it was more expensive, but I was told the price change before she began braiding.

I have been getting my hair braided my entire life and this is got to be the worst place that I have ever been to. It was almost as though they did not know how to deal with my thick 4c hair which was surprising. I believe my hair-braider was Senegalese so I suppose I expected them to be able to braid it tightly, and they weren't even able to do that. They also don't do micro raiding which wasn't told to me over the phone and they didn't even have curly black hair...they type of hair I told them I wanted when I made the appointment. Not to mention that I can hear French, so to have to sit there while they talked about my hair was ridiculous, but I stayed out because I was desperate and needed my hair done. The real surprise was the fact that the hair lasted TWO WEEKS before detangling; I thought this was a professional location that knew how to braid and wanted to make this my new go-to shop but NEVER AGAIN. I will never get my hair done out of desperation here again.

I like this place. I got senegalese twists and they stayed in place for 8 weeks. Towards the end of my service I had two people work on me so I was able to leave within 3.5 hrs; which I think is pretty good. Pricing was good; average. The area was air conditioned, clean, and spacious. Everyone was wearing a mask and social distanced. The ladies that work there were nice. There are no frills here though. No tv, music, or beverages served so bring what you need to entertain yourself. There is a restroom and parking. Caveat about the parking, it is tiny and the spaces are very narrow. They accept credit, zelle, cashapp, paypal, and Venmo. All around I like the shop. The ladies are polite, professional, and the shop is clean and spacious.

I spent a little over 7 hours at Chic Hair Braiding and I am not in love with how my hair turned out. The lady who did my hair spent an excessive amount of time on parting my hair. What I didn't notice until I got home were all the big gaps towards the top of my head (visible from the back)-- I will be adding hair fiber to fill in all the ugly gaps (I think the way in which she tried to fulfill my request for a certain style didn't work, causing the gaps... I'm surprised she didn't say something to me when she saw how it was turning out). Watching the other ladies braid, they were not only fast (it took them half the time of the woman who braided my hair), they also did a much better job doing the same type of braids (box braids). Unfortunately I will not be going back due to this bad experience. Also, their so-called COVID cleanliness has a lot to be desired and masks were not always worn by people associated with the business.

This is a great place with superb service. This braid shop with Hawa and the other master braiders created a lovely microbraid long professional style in record time. I had not worn braids since my college days and this was a great experience. I was a Sunday walk-in to check prices and was seated on the spot immediately . 4 hours later, Voila! Great prices, so tip well. Just Lovely!

Super responsive to messages on yelp and via phone. Went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with service. Got lots of compliments on simple jumbo braids

As winter comes around, I knew I would need a protective style and decided to look around for someone that could give me passion twists. I went in with a bit of hesitation, because I am very particular about how my hair is handled. I found the shop pretty easily after getting some directions from the store owner. When I got there, I was asked to wait about 30 minutes after my appointment time since there weren't any branders available. I highly recommend coming with your hair parted and detangled. They didn't know how to deal with my long 3c/4a hair. It took 8 hours total, which wasn't unexpected for me since I know my hair is a lot. Next time, I plan to come with it detangled and parted to ease up the process. I loved my hair, and the braiders are so nice. It's been almost a month since I've gone, and my hair still looks pretty good. It's a bit frizzy, but that's expected since twists are looser than braid Update: Hairstyle lasted exactly a month. I loved it and will probably get it Update 2: I took out the braids and noticed that my hairline has gone back and I lost hair around my edges. Make sure the braids are not too tight! I think the braider I had didn't know how to work with my hair type so she made them really tight to prevent them from slipping off.

I found this place on Instagram I'm glad I found them because my braids are neat my head wasn't hurting while the girl was braiding my hair they're very professional. I will definitely be using this salon in the future and tell all my friends about them
