They're OK very convenient, they are a little high but I guess it's to cover their overhead. I love the fries when they have the right ones. Sometime they will order the wrong ones. I wish that they bring back the baked carved turkey instead of using regular lunch meat.

Great food. Friendly service. It feels very safe if you need a place to stop near Wilkens or Catonsville Ave.

I've been coming to Friends Deli for three years now. It's convenient to my job, the little shop is always clean and the customer service is excellent. The food is always yummy and satisfying.

The employees are very nice & quick but the owner SUCKS! 0 customer service skills. & dont even waste your time calling in an order because she won't even tell them about it until you arrive.

Beware! The supposed hand carved freshly roasted turkey is none of the above. They only have deli Turkey

Friends Deli is located off of Wayne Avenue across from the huge parking garage. It is conveniently located in walking distance of my office building so I come here often. I have only tried their lunch menu. I usually order the Steak & Cheese Sandwich, meat is always well cooked and comes with a huge side of fries. It is reasonably priced at $7, especially for the amount of food that you get. The staff are always friendly, they greet you as soon as you enter and wish you a wonderful day as soon as you leave. Food is made on the spot and the cooks work hard to get your food out to you quickly. If you are in a rush, there are prepacked sweets and salads that you can purchase. I would recommend Friends Deli, the food is good for the price and the customers are always treated well :)

Great Reuben and other sandwiches, Jane the owner is a sweetheart.

I love this place because it literally feels like walking into your parents/grandparents kitchen. Things are made-to-order with care and it helps to know that the ingredients are real! The food is delicious and while it's a small staff, the proprietor, Ms. Jane goes through great lengths to ensure each order is correct and you don't walk away unsatisfied! If you're ever in Silver Spring, you GOTTA stop by here for good eats!

I scratch my head every time I read the negative reviews associated with Friends Deli.
This Deli epitomizes freshness with their daily roasted turkey, homemade soups (even the rice is freshly-steamed for their soups), and on-site prepared tuna and chicken salad. The potato, vegetable, lentil, and tomato soups are delicious! If you are not a meat eater like me, you have more than enough great choices to select from.
The staff is always friendly and professional. The Deli is always spotless.
I also love that Friends offers some of my favorite, healthy options including avocado, spinach or sun-dried tomato wraps, and alfalfa sprouts. Their breakfast sandwiches rival those that have people standing in line for 45 min+ at Bethesda Bagels.
The pricing is reasonable.
Give Friends Deli a try!

I regularly come to this restaurant for breakfast. It's near my house, so I guess you could say I come here for convenience more than anything. I usually get one of their meat/egg/cheese sandwiches (which is about $3) and sometimes I'll get a bag of chips and/or a drink. One of these days I'm going to try a breakfast platter. I took some stars off because I do not like their lunch food. I've had a Cheesesteak, Chicken Wrap, and Chicken Salad (the kind w/ mayo... not a salad w/ chicken). None of them tasted good to me. Three strikes and you're out. I will be sticking to their breakfast food only. The owner and the cooks are friendly and move very quickly. I always call in advance so my food will be ready when I arrive at the restaurant. Just FYI, this is one one those restaurants that has a $5 minimum for credit/debit card use, so make sure you have some cash if you plan to spend less than that. Maybe one day establishments with credit/debit restrictions will get with the times. Overall this is a decent, convenient carry out that I recommend to workers and residents who are within walking distance.

Of all the few times I have been here the food has either been good or boarder line. The last time that I came here I had put in a pickup order for the california wrap. When I finally sat down to eat it the ingredients were different from the description on the to-go menu. They added cucumbers and honey mustard to it which was listed no where on the menu description. I agree that adding things like fries and a drink will boost your order up a couple dollars. I probably won't go back after I try this new sandwich spot up on Georgia :)

Not sure why all the bad reviews but I. LOVE.THIS.PLACE. Why? Glad you asked. The owner (Korean woman) is always very kind in greeting folks at the door. I only wish I knew her name. The cooks, Maria and Arturo are always quick on the spot when it comes to making requested dishes. For example, every single morning, I get a cream cheese bagel, with jalapeí±os, tomatoes, avocado and bacon and it's made in less than 1-2 minutes WITH heavy traffic. I work around the corner so I often bring my coworkers through (especially new hires) to get them hip to Silver Spring. This place is legit. Everybody else on here is trippin'.

The food is good, however the service is not up to par. The asian lady who andwers the phone is always in a rush to take down your order. The asian man when you pick up food makes you uncomfortable like if you are about to steal from them and yells at his latino cookers. If I ask for extra ketchup or napkins the asians couple make it seem like I should be paying for it. Advice for them two is make your cuatomer feel more welcomed and don't rush on the phone.

Can't go wrong with a turkey sandwich!

This place gets one star for convenience and the food is not terrible. I stopped coming here after I accidentally spilled coffee on the sugar and creamer counter. I informed the employee and was also cleaning it up myself when he started yelling at me and saying "why did you do this??" To which I responded that it was an accident. I immediately left and never went back.

Way overpriced! A total rip off! Seriously, I never seen a bagel with cream cheese to be $3. I come here often because it's convenient but no more! It took over 10 minutes to put cream cheese on my bagel. I saw 5 people before me get their breakfast sandwiches before me because they kept messing with the toaster. They charge a premium price for their items and when they make a mistake on te order they look at you like "can you please just take the meal as it is because we made a mistake and we don't want to increase our cost by making another meal for free?"

Service was horrendous. Could not understand what I was asking for and when I got back to my office I was missing the home fries that were included in the meal. How that was not included is beyond me as it was clearly stated on the menu and it was completely empty. I called to complain and was told the menu changed and some items don't include home fries. Ummm... it says it clear as day on your menu within the deli. Not on the web. He couldnt not understand me at all. Please find staff that can fully understand your customers.

Over-priced but convenient. The chicken cheese-steak and breakfast is definitely the highlight, and their fries are amazing. The husband is way more lenient when it comes to charging for extra sauce, ect.... Overall this place is OK, as I said before, its ultra-convenient to the parking garage, on the way into my office. (The 5$ credit card minimum can be a bummer sometimes as well)

My experience always varies at this place but overall, I come back for the food (namely the fries!) I mostly order the same thing: Chicken cheesesteak. It's probably one of the better menu items. They make the food right in front of you, no mystery items. Their homefries and breakfast sandwiches are also amazing. I never order the additional stuff (chips, candy, drink) because it makes your meal too expensive. The service is sub-par at best but it's owned by a little couple, (the wife can be a bit.....much sometimes, charging left and right) It may be a little pricey, but did i mention the amazing fries?

Ahh friends! the best fries in Silver Spring and maybe MD! Great, hard working and pleasant staff. definitely a small business worth patronizing
March 2015 by Morrigan D.
Warning! Do not bother wasting your money on overpriced and low quality food!! Almost every time I've been here something is wrong. They microwave the salmon lox (why??); they hike up prices on simple deli sandwiches; and they dont deliver if your "order is too complicated". It may seem convenient but Subway, Panera and La Madeleine are one block away. Dont buy high priced and low quality food!

I went there because it's located in the same building that o work. I just started the job and I really have enjoyed the soup that they make. However the female owner has very poor customer service and when I informed her that she could lose customers because of it she shrugged her shoulders and said that she didn't care. I am big on customer service because I don't have to spend my money at your establishment. I could cook and bring my own lunch or I could go somewhere else. All be it this place is convenient and the food is good I just can't spend my money in a business fully knowing that I am not valued or appreciated as a customer! One should never be too prideful to apologize when they are wrong and express gratitude to those coming to buy at their business!

Horrible service! I went there with my co-worker as we were both hungry and wanted to get some quick breakfast. I placed my order and then went to the cashier to pay. Apparently the female cook did not comprehend my order and was about to make a turkey bacon, egg and cheese sandwich when I asked for a turkey sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. The cashier explained to me that they did not even have turkey sausage. I told him that I was fine with turkey bacon. He then suggests turkey deli meat. I tell him okay and then pay for my food. Once my food arrives I learn from the cashier that the turkey deli meat costs much more than turkey bacon so I have to pay the difference. I tell him that he should have informed me about the price difference but go ahead and pay anyway. Finally my co worker and I leave and go back to the office to eat. I open my sandwich up and find nothing but DRY turkey meat in two slices of bread. No egg, no cheese...NOTHING! All that trouble to order my food and I'm still hungry and $8 short. What a waste! Never coming back!

The food is great. BUT be prepared for a very RUDE service. I agree with the previous person that the cashier acts as if the customers are trying to rob him. I was very disappointed when they messed up my order (I believe because of the severe language barrier), and they not only refused to fix it, but made me pay for it too.

Today I felt embarrassed for them. My coworker ordered a sandwich and fries, which came out to $9.00, with no drink. That is insane! I seriously almost got out of line and walked a block to Subway. When my co-worker went to pick up her food, the owner yelled at her and started typing in the register to add up her meal, like she was trying to leave with out paying. But she had already paid. She explained this over and over. But the owner/cashier kept saying, you still owe 60 cents. I guess he hadn't charged her the right amount. So her tuna sandwich with fries and a salty attitude was actually $9.60. The other customers looked shocked. Then when I went to pay, he started to charge the lady next to me for my sandwich. I will not be eating here again. They made her look like a thief all because the guy at the register can't add. Plus, their prices are just too high. I wish this was a rare instance, but they do this stuff all the time. We jokingly call them the Not-So Friendly deli. If you're going to spend $10 on a sandwich and chips, go to La Madeline across the street. Their staff is so happy, it is almost weird. They always say "thank you for coming" and they don't make you feel like a crook.
