The grocery store itself is immaculate. The hot chicken is delicious. They have amazing products, and the Starbucks is amazing.
The pharmacy on the other hand. Consistently late, rude, always issues, understaffed.
Everybody else gets a 5, the pharmacy gets a 2.

Jan 2025-still a poorly funded store (2 awful carts available for shoppers) but a shout out to Yonis in Produce who helped me find several items that weren’t yet in the shelves. Yonis was incredibly helpful.
Apr 2024-Grrrr update. no option for human check out. Only self check out. I had $200 of groceries and no help. Pah-leeze.
Mid Nov 2018: waiting in line 10+ mins to check out with 3 items. Fortunately a very nice cashier this time so that’s an improvement.
mid Oct 2018 This Safeway is about 5 yrs overdue for a refresh. It feels dirty, for the past cpl of months, they’ve averaged abt 10-20 carts and The bathroom is gross. Staff runs cold and warm. Sometimes they’re sort of friendly but mostly, they barely acknowledge you when checking out. I asked the produce man a question yesterday and he didn’t even look at me when he answered. I can honestly say that in the past 5 yrs, I’ve not had one experience there that made me think I’d want to come back. I thought when Whole Foods moved in, they’d make an effort but they didn’t. Have spoken to mgmt and written HQ and it never changes. Harris Teeter or Wegman’s, please save us from this Safeway.

Though it's convenient, I dislike using the self-checkout and having a small group of employees posted up against the Starbucks counter staring shoppers dead in the face. If that's their assigned duty in addition to the uniformed security, it's no wonder there aren't more registers opened to assist shoppers who don't do self-checkout. If this is loss prevention, it's working well enough to deter me from coming back.

We go there in a pinch.
Prices are high, compared to other local stores. We'll lighted and plenty of choices.
The cereal isle is 98% sweet cereal, from top to bottom.
The staff runs hot and cold.
The pharmacy staff is very helpful and friendly.

CARMEN IS A NIGHTMARE!!!! I live in the area so I visit this location frequently. In all my years of visiting this location I have never encountered someone as horrible as her. I received a money order back after filing for an application wrong and naturally, I went to the store to find out how to get my money back. She COMPLETELY REFUSED to help and was NOT BOTHERED. She assumed I’m a thief although I explained the situation to her. She also did not seek help from a manager or colleague, and simply told me to leave. Another employee recognized me approached. She instructed me to fill out a form and I was able to get my funds back from Moneygram. I could tell Carmen was embarrassed by the way she spoke to me and tried to brush me off for her lack of knowledge on the subject after I received help. I doubt she remembered me but we had another horrible encounter today where she was unwilling to help and moved on to the next customer although the store was slow and she could’ve helped me. I’ve personally never been so disrespected and treated as less than in that manner. Everytime I see her helping, I know there’s a horrible day ahead. She knows very little and does the bare minimum to help customers. Horrible employee and horrible person all around. Unwilling to help. Just very rude and nasty lady.

I’ve had numerous frustrating experiences with Safeway's delivery services. I’ve had expired groceries delivered to me on multiple accounts and the delivery personnel are often delayed. Today, I paid extra for their lightning delivery service. It’s been over two hours past the promised delivery time and my order is still at the store…
I called customer service twice, hoping for a resolution, but was met with indifference. They did not apologize or offer any solutions, nor did they consider reimbursing me for the express delivery fee I paid. The lack of accountability and poor customer service has left me extremely disappointed. I cannot recommend their delivery service based on my experiences.

This is my go-to store for most of my needs, especially since I live downtown. It’s reliable and usually has everything I need. The checkout lines could be a bit faster, but I’ll keep shopping here . The Starbucks inside is a nice addition for a drink while shopping !

Easy walk from Courtyard downtown. Clean, easy to locate aisles, we'll stocked. Appreciate the consistency of Safeway. Staff welcoming and helpful.
