Do NOT use this location for U-Box rental / storage. I have been incorrectly charged multiple times, have spent countless hours with customer service, and still have received 0 answers or assistance with my storage box / move. This U-Haul location has made what should be a very logistically seamless situation, into an extremely stressful experience.

No stars. This company takes your money. I rented a u haul truck for $29 plus mileage. They didn't explain to me I had to turn it in within 6 hours. Not only that I had to return back to the original location. I was moving 35miles away. And now they added an addition $53 charges. Truck was retuned on time and with gas.

Don't do a hitch install here. Like another reviewer they replaced the hitch I had ordered with a cheaper version and never notified me. They're going to get sued if they keep doing this fraud.

Go somewhere else to get a hitch installed. This shop installed a different hitch than the one I ordered and didn't tell me about the change. I only found out when I went to pick up my car and found the wrong hitch on it. The manager told me that I would need to pay the labor cost to have it replaced with the correct hitch despite it being their mistake. 4 hours of my day gone after a month of waiting for them to do this install.

I've rented a few trucks from this location. They are a little unorganized. Let me tell you the story. I was rented three vans one day. The first one they rented me on a Sunday afternoon they sent me outside to find it and it was not even on the lot. The second one they rented me they sent me outside again. Granted they rarely leave the counter to walk you to the actual vehicle and assure it's actually where they assume it will be when they point. That second one was blocked in by another van they didn't have the key for so they rented me one last van that was out front and newly cleaned. I only planned on using it for 24 hours, but things happened beyond my control and I had to call and extend the reservation. They answered and said it was fine. Upon my return it came to about 175. No big deal I paid about 35 each day plus miles and filled up the gas tank.

THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. Tried to access my 2 u haul boxes. Called Friday 11/20/20, Nancy said she would put in a request for management to call me to confirm a time for my access on 11/23/20 (well in advance of the 24 hour notice). Called again today to confirm. Told I needed to give 24 hour notice (even though I did on Friday). At this point I wasted over an hour of my time on the phone to schedule access to my 2 units and still don't have access to my units. Horrible customer service, they have no idea what they are doing. Was on the phone for 30 minutes and the phone hung up. They only were able to schedule the time for "7am" tomorrow. Even though I am not coming at 7am, which I expressly told them that. I will update review tomorrow to see if I am able to access my u boxes tomorrow morning - or if they will make me wait or what. Will update my review to reflect the service of tomorrow. I would steer clear of this business, and don't plan to give them my business again. Based on the other reviews - this is a problem.

I have never used U-Haul before so I can't compare to other locations, but that being said, I had a pretty terrible experience here. The truck I reserved was there, but they had lost the keys. So I had to wait inside for nearly an hour (even though I had requested contactless pickup because of the pandemic) while they figured it out, and they ended up giving me a different larger truck. I found out later they had charged me for the second truck even though it was their mistake, and since I had already paid online this meant I paid for 2 trucks, and had to request a refund online. I also saw several employees walking around inside without masks, which made me very nervous since I have a health condition. The only good things I can say are that *most* of the employees were wearing masks, and they did eventually give me a truck and I was able to complete my move that day as planned.

I normally wouldn't leave a review, but our experience was so awful that I think anyone contemplating using this location to help with their move should strongly reconsider. In preparation for our move across the country, we had a reservation (!!) made months in advance for a U-Box that we were going to load ourselves at the Takoma Park location. Once we picked up the van, we were told to simply call once we were an hour away so that they could have the box ready for our arrival. So we loaded the van with everything in our apartment and made the required call, but when we did we were told that they had simply run out of boxes! Even worse, instead of helping us or even apologizing, they told us to start calling other locations to find a new box ourselves-- essentially sh*t out of luck. Even though we had a reservation, that apparently does not guarantee anything and leaves customers scrambling. A reservation means and guarantees nothing at this location! Terribly managed, treat you like sh*t, and leave you out hundreds of dollars even after they fail to fulfill their basic job. If you want to have a stress-free moving experience, I would recommend staying as far away from this U-Haul as possible. Good luck!

This is the worst experience we have ever had with a UHaul. CORPORATE NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED!! We made reservations a week ago. Confirmed both a truck a trailer multiple times. Then told yesterday that location changed and trailer not available on date promised. Waited 3 hours today to be told truck was NOT AVAILABLE. blamed on customer service but could not get through to them. Now driving an hour away to pick up truck. What is the point of making a reservation IF IT MEANS NOTHING!! We have movers schedule at our house first thing tomorrow to move out of state. We deserve all of our money back!!

This location is atrocious. Do what you can and book your services literally anywhere else. They have had my U-box in their facility for 2 months (it was shipped from New York.) When our movers went to pick it up a week ago, they were informed it was not yet ready even though the facility was aware that that was our pickup date for two months. Frustrating, but we rescheduled it for a week later and were hopeful that would be that.

I've moved a half dozen times in the last 5 years, so have had some great experiences with uhaul. But this location was by far the worst. They installed a tow hitch for a cross country move which ultimately did not work so I couldn't legally tow the uhaul trailer the day of my move. I have it in writing from the manager they would refund my hitch cost after having the hitch removed by a Uhaul once I got to my new home. After removal in mid-Feb I've asked for refund multiple times and they won't return my calls or emails. I finally disputed the cost w/ my credit card company and Uhaul straight up lied and said I have a working hitch!. They are liars and basically stole $400 from me (not to mention the last minute disaster of moving without having a trailer!).

I had an issue with my trailer lights the day of a camping trip. The hitch guy there( I think his name was Jonathan) saves the day by helping troubleshoot the issue and then fixing it and getting me on the road. Super nice guy.

In May 2018, one of my three boxes was sent to the wrong city. Then uhaul charged me for it to come back to originating city and be sent to proper city. This was about $3,000 in excess charges. Took over 10 hours on the phone to get the charges credited - everyone kept passing the responsibility to someone else. Dead mouse was on my couch when the box arrived.

My wife and I rented a one-way truck with a trailer. The company had already moved our pickup location twice within a two day period prior to the rental date. The price of the rental ended up more expensive then what was originally booked when I made reservations 6 weeks prior. On the day of our move we waited 45min for it to be ready. While driving on the highway Our 15ft truck with auto trailer and a fully loaded cargo area shut off. Yes,...it actually did. This scary event happened 2 while in motion. Both instances forced me to glide to the right emergency lane, stop, and restart the engine. In another instance it shut off while waiting at a red light. The same procedure was followed. We arrive safely at our destination and the next day I drop off the auto transport so that we can unload without a problem. The agent helps us park the trailer and before we move he reminds me to shut off the 'haul/trailer' mode. I did, the light for it disappeared and we left back to our place to finish unloading the truck. 5 minutes after the trailer drop off, the truck aggressively engine breaks while we are on the highway. I hit the steering wheel and my passenger hits the dash board and the haul light comes back on. After several attempts to talk to customer service I was able to file a dispute and I requested a full refund on just the truck, not the auto trailer since the truck was not road worthy and should not have been rented to us. It should have been out of service. The instructions from the agent noted that I would receive a call from the Takoma manager to discuss a solution. This never happened. In fact, I noticed that the manager had instead issued a $25 refund. No call, no discussion, just a 6% discount for a truck that endangered our safety on multiple occasions. I would have appreciated the phone call to discuss the issue in detail but instead, it feels as if I was pushed to the side on such an important issue in an act of cowardice. No more one-way rentals from Uhaul. I won't be letting this go so easily.

I would give zero stars if I could. The truck had visible damage before we left that was not marked by this location's office. The attendant tried to rush us off because they were busy, but we had the staff come back and place several stickers along the truck to acknowledge that the damage was not caused by us. The gas in the truck did not match the records printed out. We had to request they change this in their system so that we wouldn't be charged. In this shuffle we forgot to take a picture of the odometer, which became a VERY costly oversight on our part because we traveled approximately 100 miles up to Baltimore City and back to Takoma Park in this truck. However, this office charged us for 340 miles! We attempted to speak with the manager about this and he didn't even bother to come out of his office to speak with us. He just told his employees to tell us there was nothing he could do. We called the corporate office and they sent the issue back to this same manager who said he could do nothing. On top of all of that they gave us a broken dolly which meant in the middle of our move we had to stop and go back to the location to exchange it. The bottom line is that this location does not keep proper records nor properly maintains the equipment that it rents out. If customers do not closely check behind the office's paperwork they are stuck paying for things unjustly. I'm a student and this place overcharged me about $200 dollars. That's a serious hit. I do not plan to ever use U-HAUL again nor will I recommend it. I am deeply dissatisfied with the service I received. And I believe others will be overcharged in the future because of their poor record keeping and maintenance at this location.
