I recently visited the H&M store in Waldorf, MD, in search of a specific jacket I had seen online. When I arrived, I was pleased to find the jacket on display—but unfortunately, the only size available on the rack was too small. I noticed the exact size I needed was on the mannequin, so I politely asked a store associate if it could be removed so I could try it on or purchase it.
To my surprise, I was told that they could not remove clothing from the mannequin, even though that was the only size I needed and they didn’t have it available elsewhere in the store. This was incredibly frustrating as the item was not marked as “display only” or unavailable for purchase. It’s disappointing to know that a ready-to-sell item was essentially off-limits simply because it was on display.
What added to the frustration was the lack of effort or willingness to help find a solution. I wasn’t offered to check availability at another store or provided with assistance to order it online—just a flat-out refusal. As a paying customer, it felt like convenience and policy were prioritized over basic customer service.
I’ve shopped at many H&M locations and have never had an issue like this. Most stores are happy to remove clothing from mannequins if it’s the last available size. Unfortunately, this experience at the Waldorf location left a bad impression. I hope management reconsiders this approach in the future, as it directly impacts customer satisfaction and the likelihood of returning.

I visited this store the day before Thanksgiving to make a return and although the selection is sub par, I will say that the customer service has improved the past few months. I wanted to leave a review because I was impressed by Lavar’s efforts & patience. He not only assisted his colleagues at the checkout counter, he also helped with the removal of sensors from customers purchases who were ringing at the door, Simultaneously. It seemed that he was training them as well, I’ve worked retail before so I know it can be a lot especially during the holidays and prestocking for BF, but he never loss his patience or superior level of customer service. However, this store needs serious help with their clothing selection.

If I could give the customer service here zero stars I would! Absolutely horrendous the way the employees treat their customers, especially this weird woman Chantelle. She is extremely argumentative and disrespectful to the customers. I was treated like I was a street beggar! I will be taking this up with the corporate office and mall management. Pathetic woman!!!!! Absolutely pathetic attitude when I went to return something. The woman was disrespectful, racist and derogatory in her language and attitude!!!

This location is definitely geared towards women. I stopped in to see what type of jeans they had for my 13 y/o son. The store space overall is HUGE, it literally looks like they have the space of three stores combined. However, the men's section is very small....jeans, dress shirts, tee shirts....done. It's not even a 10th of the total size of the store.
