Terrible experience. I have been waiting for 1hr, to get a truck that I rented. Printer is not working so getting customer’s emails taking for ever. Worst experience. NEVER AGAIN.

All previous reviews (i.e., basically the one-star reviews) are true. If there is an option for zero-star, I'm sure most customers will give this place a zero. I rented the truck for one-day a few days ago. When I arrived, Joe (the guy who claimed himself to be the manager) asked me to park in the parking lot. He later asked me to move the car to an off-street parking spot in a very rude manner. Additionally, he forced me to buy the insurance, which is $75 per day, and threatened me if I don't buy the insurance, I won't be able to pick up the truck, even though I have my own insurance. When I asked why there are three different packages online but he only mentioned the $75 per day package, he gave me a lesson, yelled at me, and claimed that all the information we have is wrong and we're uneducated. My wife who was there with me and who is also visibly pregnant felt threaten by him.He also said he is the the manager of the place & hinted that there is no one we can report to. Worst place and stay away!

Horrible treatment here, just so rude and lacking any kindness. I understand it’s busy at the end of the month, but that’s not an excuse to treat customers this poorly. Not to mention a $450 fee for not vacuuming the car before drop off? Since when does the customer need to vacuum the little bit of dirt on the floor mats tracked in by their shoes?! How absurd. Not the only complaint on here regarding this issue either, read up and don’t come here, save yourself the headache.

The employees at the Allston location are negligent and dishonest. I picked up a large moving truck (16 feet) to move across the country. When I looked at the truck I noticed that the tires looked very low so I asked the employees if they could check them. They said they already had and that the truck was ready to drive. This was a complete lie, because I was forced to stop at a truck stop a few hours down the road who told me that two of my tires were completely flat (10psi) and that they were shocked I was not stranded on the highway. I am so thankful that nothing terrible happened--it is truly a miracle that I did not pop a tire or end up stranded on the highway. I then spent all day at a truck stop waiting for three tires to be replaced, causing me to miss scheduled furniture deliveries and a hotel reservation. I could not be more dissatisfied with the service I received and have yet to receive any form of compensation for Budget's severe negligence.

NEVER EVER rent with this company!!! They overcharged me $245 on top of the holding amount that was too high already cause they keep pushing you stuff last minute. They will try to charge you for things that you never had. I want to sue this company. Also, both guys who work there are extremely rude!

I rented car on Budget Allston, MA. I would give Zero stars for worst customer experience. I was charged $500 as cleaning fees (apparently to vacuum floor mats it costs $450), my car rental was $287. I did not leave any stains or bad odor in car. Below are the images of car when I returned. And since when rental car should be vacuumed ? Total Scam! I had to go through tedious process of explaining and sharing pictures to get my money refunded. Never using Budget again!

Will never use Budget again! Was given a dirty car - inside had grass, sand, etc on floors and seats. Had to get to an appt so took it as is. On return I was told that unless I vacuumed the car I would be charged $450 maintenance fee! Since when is vacuuming the customer's responsibility? I told the agent that the car was in the same condition as when I rented it, but was told that nothing was documented. I was directed to a car wash right down the street. Get there only to be told that it is a full service car wash and only employees were allowed to vacuum. So had to pay $35 for a full wash, vacuum, etc. So if Budget had charged me the $450 they would have pocketed $415 in profit! SCAM!!!Horrible experience

Worst service I have EVER had in my entire life. Will never be renting from budget again, and reporting this worker to corporate. We moved up to the area and had a return date online scheduled for this location on a holiday Monday. The second we walk in from the car for no reason at all the worker at the location started yelling at us “we are closed you can’t return today” even though my contract stated to return it here on that Monday. The hours online were wrong so we drove the truck all the way there the day before to drop the truck off only to find it closed. Then came back first thing in the morning to this horrible treatment. This man needs to be fired.Horrible and incompetent and sounds like others have had similar experiences just reading through the comments. DO NOT GO HERE.

Something's fishy / scammy at this location.If you're renting a truck, Joe White will try to slide in an extra $350 fee into the paperwork. Orally, he will claim that "it's a deposit, and you'll get your money back", but if you look at the paperwork, it is clearly marked as a fee. I tried to say "If it's a deposit as you say, no worries - let's just write the word 'deposit' beside the fee on the paperwork, and we'll both initial beside it." He was having none of it, and raised his voice. This smells like a scam that preys on young Boston college students.After no more than a minute or two of discussion (with no other customers waiting), he decided not to rent the truck to me. That's fine, but he still charged my credit card for the full amount, so now I have the hassle of disputing the charge and calling Budget corporate to get it refunded.I've rented Budget cars dozens of times from other Boston locations and never seen behavior like this.

Either a total racket, incompetence, or mixture of both, the guys here refused to let us leave without paying an unadvertised $350 insurance fee. We spoke with our insurance who were confused as to why this was so high and that we were covered through them.Upon returning we were told this was not optional.We immediately found a better price elsewhere.Not sure what is going on here but make sure to double check before agreeing to any of their “policies”

The African American man (Joe) who was at the front desk was one of the most rude incompetent people I have ever encountered. He really has no etiquette and kept yelling at me when I did not understand what I was signing.He has a terrible attitude and I would really advise anyone to not rent from here! It's worth spending more and renting from somewhere else. I have also complained direct to Budget about this branch and their extremely unprofessional customer service.

This is for the Avis hereThis location does shady things around mileage/car condition. The car I got had over 800 more miles on it than the slip said and the back tire had low pressure and a scratch on it (also not disclosed). It literally looked liked someone took it out for a joyride before renting it to me. Joe, the employee on location, will force you to get the LDW even though it is optional. He will threaten to cancel your reservation if you don't get it. He also didn't show me the agreement which clearly says LDW is optional (There are no initials where they need to be on this agreement).Seems like this location is really shady and I will be using another service. I was renting here monthly but it wasn't until this Joe guy showed up that I started having issues.Be sure to check all things and take photos before taking the car and returning the car.

Week of Feb 6, '23: Arrived at this office to add son as a free driver on my rental. Agent was not in, left number to call. Son called and the agent hassled him about being called. Son got serious with him, so he returned to the office within 5min. But agent is wearing his ATTITUDE. He rushes through the process, speaking to us in terse corporate speak. I question why the new contract is $210 higher than my original contract. He claims he didn't change a thing, so I'm thinking it must reflect my security deposit. Nope. He added in a bunch of new charges in the process of getting rid of us, while making it clear that no more discussion would be permitted. It's all straightened out now, because I take videos and pics of everything re my rentals and always use credit cards for gas.This is what I get for not going with Alamo.

They sneak charges in with you knowing: Cannot speak for Budget as a whole but this location engages in very shady practices. On my online reservation, I opted out of road safety, personal accident coverage (as I have my own insurance) and other add ons, but on my day of pick up, they stunk in all those expenses/add-ons back in without mentioning anything. They tell you they'll email your receipt but never do. Then you get charged for 3x the amount of your original reservation.
