Today something unbelievable happened. The alarm in our apartment started making a loud, prolonged beeping sound—even though there was no smoke or fire. It was unbearable. We had already reported this service issue five days ago, back when the alarm was only intermittently beeping, but nothing was done.
Today the alarm escalated to a constant, prolonged noise. I immediately reported the issue again to the office with the front desk, but she seemed unfazed. She said she had already contacted maintenance and that we just had to wait.
I explained that the noise was intolerable and stayed out of the apartment for nearly an hour, expecting it to be resolved. When nothing happened, I went back to the office and insisted I would not leave until a service person came. The front desk only repeated that she had communicated with maintenance, without treating the matter as urgent. I stressed that it was not something people could live with and that fixing it would probably take less than five minutes. Still, she showed no concern.
Out of options, I asked if I should call 911. She dismissed it as not an emergency, but I called anyway. The fire station came, and they resolved the problem. Had I not called 911, the noise would have continued indefinitely—since, in fact, no maintenance service ever came to check or fix the problem today.
This is not the first time management has failed to act quickly. Previously, when our fridge broke, it took a week to replace, and we lost a month’s worth of groceries. It is clear that the real problem is not just broken appliances, but their inability to identify and prioritize urgent matters.

I moved in a few weeks ago, and one hour into moving I noticed black mold in the shower, a hole in the wall, and the fact my toilet barely flushed. In three weeks, they've only fixed my toilet. I've been calling and going into the office, but they close early randomly and don't inform anyone about it. No one seems mildly concerned about the mold in the shower that is literally not my fault.
Not to mention the water here is so hard you have to invest in water purifiers just to enjoy your own showers and tap water. The walls are paper thin and all I can hear all day are the people in the apartment above me stomping and blaring music. I've already called the police to make a noise complaint two weeks into living here.
The management is terrible and does not care about the residents. Nice to your face but does nothing to fix your problems. Also giving people credit for positive reviews.

*Update: After moving out my skin cleared, I had weird flare ups throughout my whole time living here and my skin looked rough. My breathing has also improved.
Stay away from this place and ignore the 5 star reviews because they’re not genuine.
Worst. experience. ever.
I lived here for a year and I was very happy to leave this garbage of a place. Laundry room was in a different building, and it was very far from my building. People living there are not the best either, I had my detergent stolen once while I was grabbing my other basket from my apartment, I was gone for 10 minutes. Trash is also far, and it gets absolutely disgusting. Buildings have a strong stench that WILL make you want to throw up. I wake up everyday to the smell of curry and unless you’re indian, you won’t tolerate this smell everyday. Streets are filled with holes and they get worse and worse, never been fixed or acknowledged. where does the rent money go if you are not investing it in fixing the property?
Everything about this place is horrible, and don’t get me started on management, all they care about is your pockets. Proceed with caution. ?

Great place to live. Especially for international students. The management team is great with rapid services and help. The apartments are spacious with many equipments and amenities.

Edit: my cat got asthma during the 3 years we lived here. This cost us hundreds. Since moving she has been fine even without her inhaler. We frequently cleaned the carpets - this place is not safe for pets.
I am very glad to have moved out of this complex. New management can only do so much with the awfully old buildings. I moved into new a place and haven't heard a peep out of my neighbors, but at the boulders it felt like I was living with them. They could do nothing to stop it; how does it make sense that I was hearing the footsteps of the neighbors BELOW me? And that my office was shaking from people walking up the stairs?
I could go on and on but after three years here are my main issues:
- Loud neighbors that don't respect if you ask them to quiet down, often many people living in one unit without management knowing
- Messy area outside (besides maybe during summer when they have the lawn mowed)
It took them 2-3 months to clean up the pile of 100+ used cigarettes outside of one of the back apartment doors, mind you smoking isn't even allowed.
- Electricity in apartment constantly went out, breaker flip switches off over nothing but the lights on
- It was less common with new management but we'd consistently lose hot water mid winter and have to shower in ice cold water: this only stopped when we reached out to the town.
- Mice/rats in walls
- Apartment is incredibly hot all year, have to run AC in winter, never once turned heat on in apartment.
- Quality of actual apartment is AWFUL -> but I understand the remodel might've helped with this
- They took out our above-oven fan and replaced it with one that was way worse and doesn't do anything, so the fire alarms commonly go off
Not to mention a couple of my health issues that started when living at the boulders have resolved since having moved away for only 3 weeks so far.
You can find better for the price in the area.
Also many reviews left are likely being encouraged with some sort of reward for posting, as you may notice they are left by people who have yet to move in. They, in the past, had botted reviews. Do not trust the 5 star reviews.
Staff ARE kind but the reviewers don't realize this is a review for the apartment, not just the staff.

Update: as a now ex-tenant, my breathing problems have improved significantly upon move out, as have my boyfriend's. Just putting that out there.
As a soon to be ex-tenant of four years, It is not a safe or clean place to live. Cockroaches, mice, carpet beetles galore. And before you blame me, when they briefly hired an exterminator several years ago he said our apartment was the 'least infested' in the complex. There was a gunfight in the hallway not two feet from my door on Sunday. A bullet was pulled out of the wall and it's lucky it was a wall and not a person. The other review is correct, since many residents have extra tenants not on the lease, the windows and doors are constantly busted in or propped open. Most of the residents are international students or, to be generous, people going through rough times in life. If you like being catcalled walking 100 feet to the bus stop at your own home, the Boulders is the place for you. Management has decided that the solution to college students illegally dumping furniture is to permanently leave a dumpster outside of our building that is periodically emptied. The problem is that this has now attracted even more people to the area, because they know they can dump their things there or go dumpster diving.
Management is difficult to deal with, they will forget conversations or documents you have sent them and rudely demand them again. We've lived here four years with no issues paying rent and once my boyfriend's bank bounced his portion of a rent payment even though he had the money in his account and we immediately received a notice (a few hours after rent was due) saying we had a day to fix it or we'd be evicted. No call, no 'hey, double check your payment please', just threatening emails. Maintenance does their best with what they are given and are very nice.

The worst year I have lived in this residence. The management's treatment is very bad and the residence does not provide cleanliness, safety or comfort. I do not recommend it at all.

Run away and don't even think about living here. Very bad management. Their only concern is how to get money from you. Very bad experience with this accommodation and its management.??????????

I was a resident of The Boulders two years ago, and while the community itself is wonderful and I never had any issues with my neighbors or the property, the management is a nightmare. They seem determined to squeeze every dollar they can from you and are incredibly inconsistent.
During my time there, it was often impossible to meet with the staff for any issues or concerns. Even after I moved out, I was blindsided two years later with a collections notice for $700. This was supposedly for an unpaid balance that had already been deducted from my security deposit, which we had verbally agreed upon at the time of my move-out. Despite never receiving any communication about this issue, they violated our agreement and sent me to collections.
The mismanagement and lack of communication from The Boulders' management are unacceptable. I cannot recommend this place to anyone seeking a hassle-free living experience. Proceed with caution if you decide to live here.

Jaime was speedy and friendly and very knowledgeable about windows. Now our windows finally close and we can sleep easy knowing they are installed properly. Plus he brightened our day in process.

Living here was okay, office and maintenance staff have gotten better since the switch up. The environment itself has problems but it’s a college town. It’s a tough rental market with many places charging very high prices and very subpar housing. The Boulders is really about the same. There are issues with noisy, inconsiderate neighbors, littering, all the heating issues, etc. The positive is that most people will only live here for a max of four years so. In short, the buildings are very bad in quality and could really use work, the neighbors typically lack empathy nor care about others; the office is doing their best but I feel like the management company could do better in filtering renters and spending more on the buildings.

Zaiell has been such a pleasure to work with. Our family had to suddenly move and she has been so helpful and attentive every step of the way, to even helping troubleshoot technology issues. Her professionalism and care has made the stressful process of having to move a little easier. We are looking forward to becoming apart of this community!
