It's a gym that's well equipped but overcrowded

I'm a UMASS employee who gets a discount for the summer to work out at the Campus rec center and, it's always been great. I prefer the gym equipment and variety of the Campus than Planet fitness.

Good array of sporting equipment to work with. Very accommodating open time during the weekdays, however opens pretty late (10am) in my assessment for the weekends. You have to come with a workout plan for yourself, theres usually no trainer on ground unless you sign up for a personal trainer.

My review is for the basketball courts and general feel for the amenities. Great courts, some solid completion runs most evenings. Can get very busy and the wait for a game can be long, so don't lose. Students can "rent" a basketball with the school ID held as collateral. You can also swipe your card to "rent" a shower towel, and swipe again when you drop it off. Great facility. From what I've heard and seen it can be a struggle to get certain weights/machines at peak times.

All the equipment, machines and facilities are in top notch shape. Some machines are 10 years old but look brand new, the place is awesome. Only issue is that it's a bit packed all the time, but other than that it's great

A bit small as compared to other universities of comparable size.

This is the main sports and physical training venue for U Mass students. It is very large and well equipped. In addition to strength and aerobic training equipment, there are roomy spaces for a wide variety of fitness classes. Everything looks new and clean.

Why does a campus as big as UMass have 3 squat racks?
-
March 2022 by Cameron M
Gym is way too small I find myself waiting for dumbbells and squat racks more than I actually work out. There is 12 bench presses and only 3 squat racks.

The atmosphere is very nice and energetic. The tables by the cafe are a very stimulating place to study, and plus you can drink a smoothie while cranking down problems
