(Only 1 cause someone actually helped me)
Extremely disappointed with my experience here...been playing at this course for years now and officially will not be returning. Called ahead to speak with someone about available tee times, and was greeted with short & rude answers to my simple question. I've personally worked in the hospitality business, and have an understanding for "bad days" or if someone is not on their "A game"....but this was completely unacceptable. Then upon arrival, I waited at the counter to pay for nearly 15 minutes before anyone even asked how they could help me. Keep in mind, this place was a ghost town (3 TOTAL people in the clubhouse) How is that acceptable in the hospitality world?

After paying, me and my playing partner headed for the first tee. We were greeted with neon orange fencing stating that their tee boxes were closed, along with a warning that if you are caught STEPPING.... yes stepping on them you will be removed from the course without a refund. At this point I actually laughed, cause what kind of place charges their customers FULL price for half price quality? Not to mention no warning over the phone, or even at the counter when payment was being processed. Compared to other courses that give discounts for aerated greens, this one seems to feel they are better than others (LOL).
This is my first review on anything, but I feel that my experience was so bad I need to warn others before they waste their hard earned money at this landfill of a course. I don't think someone could pay me to play here again.

I don’t usually give reviews or in this case respond to individuals who do, but based on the review of Alan Gravers I felt compelled to do so. All I can say is the best way to describe your experience is that you have extremely unfortunate timing. The two weeks in question were very special to the owners of Stone-E-Lea Golf Course and if you were a frequent customer of theirs, you would understand why. Let me address each of the two weeks in question separately, but before I do let me correct a previous statement that will perhaps frame my statements even better and that is that all customers who frequent Stone-E-Lea golf course do not consider Dave, Rachel, Dennis, Cara, Kayleigh, Joe, Don and any of the other individuals that I may have unintentionally failed to mention who keep the golf course running like a well oiled machine, owners or employees, we consider them family thus those two weeks were very special to the LaPierre family.
One of the weeks in question was the 70th year celebration of the establishment of the golf course. It was also the simultaneous celebration of Dave (The man who I have never seen not in some manner of form working to keep that golf course in the best shape he can) the owner’s birthday. The LaPierre’s are very proud of their golf course and to honor family members, past and present employees, and current golfers they invited a select number of individuals (I was honored to be one of them) to their celebration. They did close the course to the public and doing so simultaneously gave full recognition to their employees by doing so. Dennis the man I curse under my breath (tongue firmly in cheek) when I lip a putt due to his chosen hole locations almost fainted when he learned he had a day off. However, Mr. Gravers what you were also not privy to was that the golf course was open for free play to any employee or celebration invitee for the entire day. I personally teed off at 11 AM and finished my final putt at 5:15 in the afternoon. Two 36 holes of the most relaxing and fun rounds with a full catered meal at the end and the ability to hear the “life story” of Stone-E-Lea Golf course. Thanks again Dave and Rachel.
The second time you were unable to play Mr. Gravers was due to ( I believe this to be the case anyway) a charity golf tournament that is now in its second year that honors a cause close to Rachel’s heart and that is the Pan Mass Challenge in it’s fight against cancer. The tournament (and I highly recommend it) is more of another family get together as there are challenges on every hole that take the ability to play golf to win in some cases completely out of your hands (no pun intended). It is also a dress up in costume and dress up your cart with a chosen Halloween theme you so desire for 18 holes of in some cases “nonsense”. I played a drive on two holes determined by how far I could throw my headcover! I played two holes with just two clubs. We putted blind once and our craziest hole was where we had to use a putter from tee to green on the 15th hole which any Stone-E-Lea golfer knows it’s the only water on the course. How we got a double bogey on that is still a mystery. Mr. Gravers you had absolutely no chance of walking on that day because those tee times for the charity tournament are chosen faster than turkey legs on Thanksgiving.
Finally, please don’t cross off Stone-E-Lea due to your unfortunate times of choosing a time to play. No one likes to be turned away when they have golf clubs at the ready, but while you were disappointed that you didn’t get a chance to play the LaPierre’s and all the Stone-E-Lea staff were even more disappointed that they didn’t get to show you what they’ve worked their whole lives to perfect.

If you are ever at the golf course on Friday at around 10 AM and my foursome has an opening I’d love to play with you as that is what (though I am not an actual family member) family is all about.

Was starting to warm up to this course, but became very disappointed in this place the last two Saturdays in a row.
I can't golf until late afternoon and chose Stone E Lea as my golf course of choice. Drove down there only to find out the course was closed for private events. I felt like Chevy Chase when he got to Wally World; the entire course was closed. Not even the back 9 was left open; nothing. Both Saturdays were beautiful out and likely the last nice Saturdays of the season. Since it was so late in the afternoon, I didn't have enough daylight to go to another course so my golfing opportunity was shot on these last few nice days of the season. I realize I was taking a chance just showing up, but I'm a solo golfer and can usually hop in the next tee time. I can deal with tee times being booked up, but not an entire course being closed; it doesn't even give me a chance.
Also, closing a course on a nice day like that - you may as well put up a sign that says "Hey, we don't really care about our regular customers"
But the real kicker was the reason they were closed this past Saturday.... to celebrate their 70th year in business. How ironic that you would celebrate something like that by shutting the place down. Thanks for spoiling the end of my golf season and what a great start on your 71st year - by losing a regular customer.

I really like this place. The people are great here always friendly and helpful. The course is in good shape and the pace of play is even decent on the weekends. You can tell the grounds crew takes pride in their work. Great job.

Played 9 holes with my wife yesterday. Cant complain for $21 walking. Played in under two hours. Unique layout, especially the 3rd hole. Back nine has a driveable par 4. Good learning course, don’t expect championship conditions for the price but its significantly better than Heather hills or lakeville ( the worst course I’ve ever played and only one that has crabgrass growing in the greens) and probably as good shape as Wentworth hills right now and less than half the price

Nice course, Play in a league. Greens are good, especially end of day. Price to play os great, $21 to walk 9. Only criticism, no water for players on course. Never played a course that didn't have water jugs, especially when it's HOT!
I'd judge this as a no frills course, but fun to play.

The corse is in great condition and they are constantly making improvements to the traps ect. You also can't beat the cost!! Best bang for your dollar around.
