I give this gym an A+. I got a one month membership for my two week vacation and I loved coming here to workout. It is well equipped, spacious, kept at a comfortable temperature and clean. The best things were the staff were always friendly and the patrons were all there to workout! Even though I was there for a short time I felt part of a community of serious folks (of all ages and abilities—I’m 59) all truly focused on training. Yes, the younger kids like to gaze at their phones between sets, but in my 6 or 7 visits over weeks I didn’t have to sigh to myself even once because of clowns taking selfies or ego lifters slamming weights on eccentrics they couldn’t control. I felt totally at home doing my thing and confident that I wouldn’t be distracted by nonsense that often occurs in commercial gyms. I used barbells, dumbbells, weight machines, pull-up and dip setups and the peleton—I only had to wait for a piece of equipment or adjust my workout once. The two downsides were it was a little pricey for a one month membership (not sure how the other reviewer got a $90 deal) and I found it a little dark, particularly in the room with the turf and multiple squat racks. I I’ll use them again in the future and recommend to others.

The front staff is just rude and awful. I am a F1 student and I will live in the Cape for this next year or 2. I wanted to find a gym that worked for me, and as I live in Barnstable, I thought Fitness500 would be the perfect fit.I saw in their website that they offer a free day pass to people from the Cape, so I called and asked if I could come in that afternoon. They said ok, I emailed them with ALL MY DOCUMENTS, mail from the government, the acceptance letter from the school I will study, insurance and everything.I arrived and the man in the front desk was just awful. He kept asking questions even after I showed him all the documents I had that proved I live in the Cape. He was everything but welcoming. He said he did not believe me and a lot of people just wanted to come in for free.I felt ashamed and sad. I have the money to pay for it. I ended up paying $20 for the day, but it was the worst workout of my life, I just felt bad being there. He was SUPER rude.I ended up going to YMCA and not regret it! People there are very sweet.

A very well equipped gym, very friendly staff and courteous members. Definitely my choice of gym to go to when in the area hands down. I like turtles

They don't care about customer, new staff are very friendly is not they fault, but the manager is never on the location to fix problems , especially when you want to cancer you membership . They don't care about complaints , don't recommend this place no more, I being member for 6 years and now they still charged my credit card and they can't stop my automatic recharges worst system.

This place hates to see people achieve success. Too bad they can’t be happy for people that shine. Poor management with bad attitudes.

Honestly, this gym was great a year ago. Now with the new managment, this place is awful. They wont hire somebody because they have a mental disorder but yet will hire felons. This place is a s*** hole. Their is a no bag rule and you are "not aloud to take pictures or videos". You would think that with the new management team would get the hint that all past clients/staff leaving, there is an issue. Save ur money and go somewhere else.

We moved out of Cape Cod in March 2020 during the height of COVID when all of the gyms were closed. We called to cancel then. Then called multiple months after and the membership was still not canceled. This has been MULTIPLE phone calls over the last two years. So now they have taken over $500 from us when we do not even live there.

Overpriced gym, no towel service, no soap in showers, steam room indefinitely out of service. I tried the gym once and realized how poorly ran it was and the didn’t want to refund my membership. Front desk has terrible customer service.

This place is the epitome of the “bait and switch”. I had a “VIP guest pass” that was given to me by the Zumba teacher to check out the gym. I went there last week to do that and they refused to honor the pass. They wanted us to pay $40 and said we’d get it back if we paid for a membership. That’s just wrong and seriously bad business. I ended up going to Sportsite where they gave me a three day pass and it was really great! Plus, they’re super nice there too. I guess Fitness 500 has enough business they just don’t care. Thankfully there are other better options!

The epitome of the "bait and switch!" I went there a while back and was given a free pass for a future visit. I went last week w my son (the pass was for two), and they tried to get us to pay $40 to use the gym! They would not honor the pass unless we paid for a membership and then they said they'd refund the money. Are you kidding? That's just wrong and seriously bad business. Real jerks. Sportsite gave me a pass for 3 days to check it out and they're super nice there! I guess Fitness 500 has enough business that they just don't care. I'm glad there are much better options out there!

There is zero integrity from the front desk up. Waited over a week for my money to be returned that should never have been taken out. Was told let’s do the paperwork tomorrow you can not be billed with out a card and signature, well next day I told them I would not be joining and the day after that my card was charged. Called them The manager said he would credit my account he credit my Fitness 500 account not my debit card account, waited a few more days called again spoke with desk, manager left message on my phone I went over after work he explained he made a mistake. And now it will be returned in four payments, And he said he mailed me a receipt NEVER RECEIVED ONE but I did get my reminders for the 2 months prior that I scheduled an appointment…same email address. Got tired of waiting called the gym a week later and wanted a call from the owner who is there all the time his family works the desk…the desk person gave the message to the manager who I explained that I did not want to speak to him I want my money back on my debit card today. So who cslls ,,,the manager that does not know how to do anything except smile and have zero integrity and he then told me the owner was on vacation. ( do you think I believe this man’s story)I told him to put my money on my credit card now and to send me a receipt like you said you would days earlier. I do not recommend this club. The b/s does not fly. And I’m still waiting for my money at this time.

Got banned with no explanation.“This membership may be cancelled by Management at any time with or without cause. (Fitness 500 Club is independently owned and operated).”Management canceled my membership around the new year since since the club gets busy with resolutioners. Don’t want the “regulars” or people getting their money’s worth taking up too much space.Don’t trust any reviews from spring 2021, they offered a discount for a good review. Truth is they don’t care about customers and are only looking for clients who buy memberships but never use them. Very unprofessional

They have everything you’d want in a gym with no frills. It’s perfect. Every gym across the country should model itself after this place.

Owner is a coward. Hides behind the computer screen in his skinny jeans canceling memberships of people he doesn't like and fires workers when he feels like making a change. Absolutely no loyalty to customers or employees, a shame really. Guy is built like a 40-year old mother of 6 so I expect no less.

Worst management I've ever seen in a gym. The owner is the grouchiest man who talks behind every employee and member's back, but when it's time to purchase a membership he'll put on the fakest smile and charm. All he cares about is money, this "franchise" wont go very far if you don't put your customers first
