Very nice staff, welcoming place! So glad I decided to change over from Walgreens! Walgreens has always been a nightmare.

The staff was super helpful and very friendly. One of my medications had a very high copay and they took the time to help me find a program to help defer cost. What once was a $175 dollar copay is now only $10! Because of the person that helped me I now don’t have to stress about paying for my medication. Thank you so much for all of your help!

Barre Family Pharmacy was a place I used to frequent years ago when living out in Barre. They used to have a much different overall feel than many bigger named chain drug stores, such as CVS or Walgreen's for example. Staff was familiar with regulars & would happily spend a moment or two chatting with them. The store itself is small, and part of it feels like a small gift shop which is nice, if you're looking for a last minute gift for someone, or even to treat yourself to something special now & then. Also helps to have something productive to do while waiting for your prescriptions to be filled. Plus there's a Dunkin' conveniently located across the street. The staff is not always the most friendly here now, but to be fair, I've had many mixed experiences here. The pharmacy folks (especially the elder ones) are often very cautious, carefully eyeing the customers as they browse the store & shop for their items, to ensure that nobody is going to steal, or no little hands (or big ones!) are planning to accidentally break, or otherwise damage merchandise. I often feel watched whenever checking out the gift ideas. It's pretty uncomfortable actually. Nobody enjoys being stared at the entire time shopping! With it being such a small store, I'm sure it's pretty obvious when people do steal, so I find it unnecessary to gawk at customer's while shopping. Plus I imagine they have cameras by now, or if not, should certainly invest in them, rather than having employees play detective or watchdog. I will also complain that they didn't have some pretty basic items here that a pharmacy store should have had! I needed vapor liquid for my child's vaporizer, but they did not have anything like it. This was inconvenient, because they were my only hope in the town of Barre, so I ended up having to go to another town about 18/20 mins away. They are good about returning things though, as long as you have a receipt and/or product is brought back unused/unopened. I once purchased body powder for someone & apparently bought the wrong kind, so they did take it back without any hassle. Some prices are fair to moderate, others a little high! For example, gift wrap is definitely less expensive elsewhere. Or even baby care products, over the counter medication, etc. With it being the only pharmacy for miles, they sure don't try too hard to save you much money here. Younger staff often seem like they could use more training & often must rely on the older, more experienced staff for assistance for transactions. This pharmacy does not have a drive thru or restroom. Parking lot can get a little crammed as well. One thing I do like is that upon entering the store, they have a cardboard box on the floor with used books for the taking & a sign that offers to leave or take used books. Personally, I don't use this pharmacy anymore, but I occasionally shop at this business. It's not like it once was, but not a bad store. I just wish they'd be a bit more welcoming like they once were, and less overprotective about theft & risk of customer's damaging breakables/other items. I don't believe if a customer were to accidentally break something that the money would come directly from a staff's pocket or paycheck, so I don't understand why they behave this way about something like this. I wish it never changed, but things do...

Does this pharmacy not have a dress code? The blonde girl working behind the pharmacy was dressed like she was going to a night club. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

This pharmacy is awesome in so many ways, and despite it's smaller size, serves it's community well.

After an extremely difficult and stressful week I was at a tipping point. My husband changed jobs and my family found ourselves in a situation where we had a gap in insurance. 30 days doesn't sound like a long time but Murphy's law took over and the day our insurance dropped our coverage my daughter woke up with a hurt tooth. I spent hours on the phone with insurance company's, dental offices and no one seemed to have an answer to my family's plight. No one seemed to care or

07/17/2017 Overall I cannot say enough about this pharmacy, owner, staff! I needed a couple of scrips filled, and we ran into all kinds of problems, with insurance, dosages, brands covered, etc. This staff worked with me and my family so closely to make sure everything was filled exactly as it should be. They were very professional, very friendly. That is one of the best reasons to have a small privately owned pharmacy around instead of one of the "big box" ones is that they really care. A while back, my husband was getting one filled, and the pharmacist discovered a problem with an interaction with another prescription, and worked closely with the doctor that had written the prescription, and stopped a potential bad interaction. I would not hesitate to take my prescriptions here to be filled, and I'm glad that they are in Barre!!!! Catherine

Went to fill a simple pain management prescription after having oral surgery and they didn't have it in stock. Prices are a lot higher than CVS, Rite Aid and Walmart. Sounds silly but the building also has a funny odor.
