It's a shame that this post office seems to handle business rather inappropriately. I'm not sure if they're currently understaffed, but that's the vibe I got. I stopped in recently to purchase stamps & was met with a long line all the way to the door. There were about 3/4 customers ahead of me & only one middle aged woman up at the counter. I'm purposely describing her, so that maybe whomever reads this will have an idea of whom she is. Dark hair, in somewhat of a longer bob cut. I did not get her name unfortunately. She was assisting an older gentleman who had several packages. She obviously knew this customer personally, because it showed in their lengthy conversation that they had while she very slowly rang up his order. The customers behind him were growing impatient, because not only did he have an obviously lengthy transaction, but he was continuing to occupy much of the clerk's time with casual unrelated conversation. The clerk paid absolutely no mind to the long line behind him. They were discussing a vacation. I'm assuming she was working alone, or she would've probably called another associate to help at the counter, or so I'd hope! This man probably had at least 10/12 packages & I waited at least 7/8 mins before deciding to take my business elsewhere, as they carried on their personal conversation while the line continued to grow. The entire time she was only handling the one customer. It was actually probably closer to 10 mins. I know that some business takes longer than others, but it didn't help that they were chatting away & laughing while she proceeded to help him with his order. She appeared to have no concern for the growing line of customers whatsoever. Not everyone has all day to wait, and if she had been the only clerk available, she could've moved a tad bit faster to assist customers in a more timely fashion. Very disappointed. I was so far from the counter that I had to stand right in front of the door which was the entrance & kept having to move each time someone came in, so to avoid getting hit with the door. I ended up going to the post office in Wheelwright instead. I do not plan on returning anytime soon.
