Great knife sharpening. I brought in a very dull inherited knife that I had tried unsuccessfully to sharpen at home. Now it has been cutting like new for weeks.I am disappointed that I was required to give an email address to purchase, only to be added to a mailing list which I didn't want but oh well ?♂️ it's easy to unsubscribe.

The gentleman at Local Root refused to sharpen my knives because I was unwilling to share with him my email address. I am happy to pay for your services, but you are not my friend and I am not willing to share with you personal information that isn't a necessary part of the financial transaction.

Not sure what in person shopping is like but online order customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I’m not planning on ordering from here again. Edited for response: I’m not unhappy because I couldn’t get free expedited shipping. I feel Lauren didn’t answer my questions, and over wasn’t stellar with customer service skills. Yes it’s annoying to order something and then have it pushed back , but also I’d recommend being upfront on your site if something is a pre order that you don’t even have in stock. I ordered from this site because it was one of the only sites with this item in stock but that wasn’t true. I’d rather wait to spend my money someplace else when this item is back in stock. Lauren did not respond as you did to my query about having faster shipping since the item was so delayed. If she did I wouldn’t be writing this review. She merely told me she’d be charging me for it, and then removed the charge when I asked if it could be waived due to the inconvenience . I hope these details help explain I’m not just sad I can’t get free fast shipping. It’s more the overall customer experience I had.

I’ve gotten knives sharpened here twice. Great work, reasonable prices and very good customer service.The store is really fun to look around - full of high quality cookware and kitchen supplies.

Went for knife sharpening. Reasonable price. Shop owner was very friendly. Great customer service. I was worried a couple of these knives would be difficult to sharpen, but they are all good as new. I will likely return next time I need sharpening done.

Yes, ok, they carry expensive things. But it's the kind of place you go to because they have a good eye for selecting really high quality beautiful things. Well worth a visit to find a special gift for yourself or a loved one. If you have loads of money to spend, you can outfit your kitchen, dining room and patio with incredible stuff all in one shop!

Yes, ok, they carry expensive things. But it's the kind of place you go to because they have a good eye for selecting really high quality beautiful things. Well worth a visit to find a special gift for yourself or a loved one. If you have loads of money to spend, you can outfit your kitchen, dining room and patio with incredible stuff all in one shop!

We purchased a teak outdoor table from Didriks that was very hard to find across the U.S. due to supply constraints. Sayuri went above and beyond to find one and have it shipped to our home in LA. I highly recommend Didriks due to the exceptional service received from Sayuri. She saved our summer!

Don't get your serrated knife sharpened here (done by local root, I think). My knife handle got scratched by then, it's not that sharp and the metal was buffed so hard, it looks like it has a groove on either side. Now the knife leaves interesting grooved marks on what is cut, too. I called to complain, the staffer got a bit defensive, and I then heard the Death Knell to my future business, "You can just bring it back...". NO!!! I cannot JUST stop my life and deal with parking to help them fix their bad job! When I hear "you can *just* come back..." so they can fix their mistake, they've lost me. Businesses: you take my money for a repair, you JUST get one chance to do it right!

Interesting merchandise but one of the worst run retail businesses I’ve encountered. During COVID, you’d think they would adapt and release online information about their actual hours and policies. I tried repeated calls to find this information and not a single pickup and no calls returned. Hilariously, their 800 number still lists the hours of their Cambridge store, which relocated over a year ago.

Placed an online order on November 29 and was told on December 1 that part of the order was out of stock (even though the item in question appeared to be in stock online). I was specifically told the rest of the items in my order were in stock and would ship. On December 11, after still not receiving a shipping update, I sent an e-mail to find out what was going on. No response. On December 14, I sent another message, this time through the company website, to get an update. Finally, received a response later in the day stating that the rest of the items are unavailable. It took 15 days for them to tell me that NOTHING from my order would ship, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have told me anything had I not pestered them for an update. It's now 10 shopping days before Christmas and I have to go back to the drawing board because of this store's total incompetence. Totally unacceptable. Stay away from this horrible store.
