I'm a longtime fan of this hardware store. Its staff is very helpful - especially Tom,
who is extremely informative and always welcomes customers with good humor. The recently remodeled store is brightly lit and well organanized.

I went to pick up a panel-and left with the BEST customer assistance I've experienced in quite a while. Plus much better items than my original Their store is enormous it's clean . my home repair needs were stocked... and... they delivered an order on time. 5 stars!

Came here to pick up a very heavy order, and a very kind employee came out personally to help load the bags into my car. The folks who work here seem so friendly and sweet, I would highly recommend this store!

The new(ish) owners have worked hard to make this a fantastic local garden center and hardware store. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The prices are reasonable, particularly if you Ace Rewards and coupons. They gladly put the heavy stuff in your car for you and if they don't have something in stock, they can get it within a few days.

I was in there today for a vexing problem about a dripping spigot. As always, Tom knew exactly what the solution was. I said, "I feel bad coming here, getting valuable advice, and walking and paying 80 cents for a washer." "Leave a Google review" was the response from the fellow standing next to him. I see that I already left a 5-star review 3 years ago, but I'm adding some text. Also: embarrassed to admit that the other day I went to Home Depot looking for metric machine screws. I looked today, and the supply at Hillside is better and cheaper.

Will not necessarily honor online orders."I am not someone's personal shopper" the associate said this morning.Response to the business:I cannot pick up orders that were never ready for pickup. I also had multiple days left to pick up the order that was ready.I would love to support a local business (which I was doing). However, being treated as an inconvenience, and now just being told lies is not really the sort of behavior I expect from a local business that cares about their local customers.

Hillside is the best place around North Cambridge to get a Christmas tree. The trees are reasonably priced and there is a good selection, with helpful staff to answer questions and put the tree in your car.
