I’m looking to sell and decided not to contact this agency when I found out my former agent Gail works for them . Not only did she meddle in my divorce, she almost rendered me, and my children homeless,so she could make a sale. Your best interest is not in her heart . Great company poor agent.

My daughtar used them to buy a condo. Rep was awful they got swindled on there purchase and sale and the night before the walk through they shut off the electric. I trusted them and did the close the next day. And discovered the heating and central ac was not working 8,000 later we had to replace it. Called the Barrett realistate didn't care. I should have stopped the sale. The owner was very rude. The complex that she bought from has banned all reps to sell condos in her complex and the 400 unit complex up the street.

I worked with Lisa McGinley to find a new apartment when trying to relocate from a negative landlord situation. The rental market in Massachusetts is outrageous right now as we all know, so I was anxious going into the process but she helped me find the perfect place. Very helpful and transparent.

BUYER BEWAREBought home from them - on move day - house was locked and no way of entry was provided by J Barrett. Had to wait an hour for locksmith to get us in. Moving company was waiting at 150/hour. J Barret refused to pay this hour even though it was a direct cause of their error.House that was purchased had mold but this was not disclosed.Denied some of the information on their sell sheet after the house had been sold. Not trustworthy - beware if you are buying from them

Kate Richard from J. Barrett is the listing agent for a condo in my building. During an open house, my dog sitter had accidentally parked in the wrong parking spot. Rather than realizing a simple mistake had been made and allowing my dog sitter to move her car, Kate called a tow truck and was incredibly rude and unprofessional. My dog sitter was ready to move the car and told her she just needed to put the dog in the house and she responded “no, you need to move the car now.” I couldn’t imagine allowing someone like this to list my property. Take your business elsewhere.

Inquired about an apartment in Swampscott through Hotpads. Ended up being contacted by Justina Oliver of J Barrett and Company in Beverly. I provided requested documents and asked for showing times to see the property and she responded with a single 2 hr slot midday in a take it or leave it offer. From the instance she introduced herself she was very dismissive and uncooperative. High disregard from Justina Oliver.

We had a truly great experience working with Daniel Meegan & Tammy Albano at the J. Barrett Beverly office. They did everything possible to help us find the perfect first home, and it is evident that they truly have their clients' best interests at heart. Our highest recommendation to anyone looking to buy or sell a property!

Bad listing agent . I have offer the single house in Jefferson ave ,salem with the highest price but this listing agent never work with the seller to treat me a as a first choice . They decide to go with the lower price without letting me know. Do not work with this listing company so you don't have problems with your time .

We recently sold our home in Peabody, MA with Jenny May as our listing agent. She was a pleasure to work with through every step of the process. She knows the North Shore very well and has many contacts that were useful to us (handy man, a great attorney, etc.). She knew the ins and outs of the transaction very well and always kept us informed. Jenny was willing to work as slow, or as fast as we wanted to sell our home. Originally it was slow and we told her "next year". All of a sudden, we wanted to sell immediately so we could buy a new home we had fallen in love with. She made it happen! We had a signed offer within 5 days of listing it. If you are looking for a very professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant agent to work with, Jenny is perfect!

I don't know about the legitimacy of the reviews here. This is in reference to J.Barrett & Company. Terrible service. Inquire about a property once, twice....no response. Evidently, they don't need the business. Good for them, I guess.

What can I say? Jenny May was such a breeze to work with! We are first time home-buyers, filled with anxiety, and Jenny made everything so easy. She was always available, always ready to act, very responsive, and super kind and understanding. One of my favorite aspects of working with Jenny is that almost everything we needed to do, we were able to do electronically. We found ourselves in the awkward position of having to make an offer while traveling, which meant that we weren't available in person, or even near a computer... but that was okay, because she was able to send us what we needed to our phones! The future has arrived! She made every step manageable, even down to e-signing documents via smartphone! It was great. She was so easy to work with, so understanding, and I will totally recommend her to any prospective home buyers! Go Jenny!

I recently decided to sell my Salem, MA condo. Jenny May's name is well known throughout the North Shore and I know she's been in the Real Estate Business for quite some time so she was my first choice. My condo sold in a very timely manner (within 2 months). Jenny made the process incredibly easy for me and helped me understand exactly what I needed to do, what was happening, our next steps, all of it at a pace that didn't overwhelm me. She gave me sound advice and dealt with my initial "not sure if I am ready to do this" having had the condo for so long. She's very patient, straightforward and VERY easy to work with. Jenny went beyond the call of duty with items that needed to be done for me since I am over an hour away (living full time in Maine). If I know anyone looking to buy, sell or rent, I will pass along Jenny May's card!

I don't usually write reviews. I read plenty but I seldom take the time to write them. I have to be really impressed if I am to set aside the time to write a review. This is one such occasion. I have read another comment here where someone refers to Jenny May as their hero. I can completely understand this, she is my hero also. If you are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, effective and responsive Realtor you have found her. We were looking to purchase a condo in Salem and had no idea where to start. Because we are from the UK we also had only a very limited understanding of how the property market in the US worked. The truth is we were a little afraid that we might be exploited and ripped off. We knew that finding a great realtor would make all the difference so we looked around for reviews and recommendations. Jenny's name came up several times and she was highly recommended so I sent off an introductory email to her to see what would happen. Jenny replied within the hour and addressed all of our initial questions and comments - and we had a lot of questions. At that time we were not quite ready to make a purchase and had not made any plans to travel to Salem. Nevertheless Jenny kept in touch with us over a number of months, sending us various property details to take a look at and asking us for our feedback (we even had a video chat via Skype). This allowed her to better understand what we were looking for and for us to better understand the type of properties available to us within our price range. Jenny also provided us with lots of other very useful and important information on a whole range of other issues. This included an understanding of the various neighbourhoods as well as introducing us to a really great attorney (Ken Chiarello). After we made arrangements to travel to Salem Jenny set up a number of viewings over several days and kindly escorted us around. I like to think that I am pretty clued up but I was glad to have Jenny by my side asking some of the tougher questions, many of which did not actually occur to me. When it came to making a decision we were not pressured into purchasing the most expensive property. Instead Jenny seemed most concerned about us finding the right property for us and helped us to examine the relative pro's and con's for each of the properties on our shortlist. When I raised concerns or had questions Jenny was able to provide me with reassurance and answers. It felt good to know that Jenny was on my team. Later, when we had an offer accepted on a property and started the buying process, Jenny managed the whole process and ensured that the wheels kept turning. She continuously liaised with all of the involved parties and made sure that any questions or requirements were swiftly dealt with. Again, for us being new to the US properly market, this was all really helpful and shielded us from stress and anxiety. It also made the transaction complete really quickly, in about four weeks. Even now, having moved into the property, Jenny has stayed in touched and has been able to provide us with recommendations for all sorts of different services. Not being from Salem this was very important and valuable to us and made sure that we didn't waste time or money using the wrong people. So, as I said at the outset, if you are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, effective and responsive Realtor you have found her. Whether you are buying or selling you want Jenny on your side. I highly recommend her and I think that if you use her as your Realtor you will as well.
