Imagine this — I walked 30 minutes to 7/11 with the dreams of getting my late night hot Cheetos and Diet Coke. But alas, I encountered an existential crises when I find the store was closed despite being clearly advertised as open. I pull on the door, hoping for warmth from the cold and the joy of pursuing the aisles, only to hear the clink of the deadbolt against the doorframe. What a false proclamation.
The store mocked me, with the bright lights displaying the well stocked aisles and half full slushee machine, the hot Cheetos staring right at me — as if to say “you could have me but you can’t.” Tonight I have learned what true disappointment feels like. The capitalistic equivalent of the friend that says they’ll be ready in 5 minutes but shows up three hours later.
If you too are looking to indulge your late night craving, feeling as though you have been deserted on an island of closed convenience stores, this is NOT your oasis.
I left, hungry but slightly wiser. I learned not to trust everything you see. But in their defense, while the store may not always open physically, it is always open emotionally… to disappointment.

I have no questions. The store says it works 24 hours a day - in fact it was closed at 6.40 in the morning
