I had an issue with my shifter not being able to go out of park. I called this morning and said I could bring it in today. Tony is a very nice guy and was able to fix my issue (a very minor one) the same day. I would highly recommend taking your car here if you have any troubles. It will be in good hands!

These guys are the best. I came to them last year and they were able to get me a replacement part quickly. I returned this year since my vehicle was making a terrible screeching noise. I gave them a call, they said to bring it in and within the same day they diagnosed the issue, and even explained it to me very clearly since I am not the most familiar with car parts. Very honest as all the other reviews said and Tony was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I will definitely be returning to A1 in the future if I need any more work.

I cannot rate A1 highly enough. The owner, Tony, is knowledgeable and very good at explaining what is happening with your transmission. I am a recently departed Boston resident returning for a visit. He spent 1 1/2 hrs testing my vehicle and topped off the fluid (which for my vehicle has to be don on a lift). He wouldn’t take payment for his work and materials. He’s a stand up guy and provides an excelent service

Honest shop. Called to ask about a quote and talked me out of it for fear of worsening the issue. Phone call only, but if he was malicious he would have asked me to come in!

Tony, the owner, is awesome. They do solid work and don't try to rip your arm and leg off in the process. Had valve cover gaskets replaced here and other work, and I felt treated well and the price was fair.

They were able to do a service on the transfer case of my Ford that no one else wanted to do. I spent hours on the phone speaking to different shops to no avail, and I spoke “car language” describing what needed to be done to dozens of other shops. This transfer case for AWD aka the PTU has no drain plug. The fluid has to be extracted through the fill hole, which A 1 automatic transmission (Boston,MA) knew what I was talking about when I called. Fair price, good phone skills, kept appointment on time. Retail customer, no endorsement.

Honest mechanics that won't try to charge you for services you don't need.
I had called about getting a transmission fluid flush and they explained that they wouldn't do it without checking first to see if it's what I actually needed. Instead of just trying to make a sale, they were honest with me and didn't want me to waste money on something I didn't need.

Nice guys. My friend fell on his bike and had to take an ambulance to hospital. This shop kept his bike overnight until we could pick it up. Wouldnt take money

I was a random walk in on a Tuesday; needed a brake and oil change. They took it in no problem and had it back to me about 5 hours later. Very fast service, reasonable price, and very friendly. Highly recommend!

I was told by another mechanic that I needed some transmission work done. I called A-1 intending to schedule an appointment. I explained the situation and given the age and mileage of my car they advised against getting the work done. I really appreciated their honesty and that they were willing to sacrifice what could've been an easy sale for whats best for my car. Thank you!

Tony checked out the transmission on my wife's Mazda 6 today. It has more than 100k miles and started jerking when shifting into drive.He made sure that there was enough transmission fluid, did a test drive, and checked the drivetrain.Tony explained in detail why he wouldn't recommend any repair. And then he refused to charge us for the diagnostics.He's trustworthy and not just looking out for maximum profit.Services: Transmission
