Edit: I got contacted right after with a proposed refund, I increase from 1star to 4stars for the prompt reply and the professional proposition.She was nice, but I had clearly expressed my desire to keep long hair by showing her a picture of long hair maybe 2 or 3 times. I'm not sure why I ended up with a short haircut that was completely different from the photos. I would have given maybe 2 stars if it had not cost me $80 and if I hadn't shown her the pictures 2 or 3 times.

This place is a joke. The receptionist is rude, the staff is smug, and the stylists are dismissive. I would highly recommend avoiding this place, especially if you are looking for any glossing or conditioningI went in for conditioning about a month ago and the receptionist was immediately rude to me saying I was late and threatened to take away the deposit. She acted like I was a nuisance and couldn't answer my questions. When I finally got to see the stylist, she rushed through the appointment and didn't seem to care about my concerns. The receptionist too lied about treating me this way.The whole environment in the salon was toxic and uncomfortably smug. The receptionists were all very cliquey and made me feel like I was being judged. I even overheard two of them making fun of my appearance.After wasting my time, I left the hair salon feeling humiliated and angry. I would never recommend this place to anyone, especially not if you. They will do anything to refuse and not admit their mistakes, even not take responsibility!! There are much better hair salons on the street out there that will treat you with respect and provide much better quality

I recently got my hair done at Avanti for a bachelorette weekend, and it was better than great! I wish I could give more than 5 stars as a rating. Jay was incredibly sweet and helpful, not only this but checked in on me while I was at my appointment to make sure everything was going smoothly. I had my hair styled by Marguerite, who could not have been kinder and it looked amazing! Could not recommend a better place than Avanti on Newbury Street.Services: Haircut

I just came on to give Corey a review for my stunning blonde hair and gorgeous blowout. But I can’t help but comment on someone else’s recent review about Corey “yanking” hair causing them pain and a headache for the rest of the day from a blowout. My hair is extremely difficult to do! It’s insanely thick, frizzy, curly, and long. My hair is so time-consuming for me that I go to Corey every week for a blowout. He makes it straight and smooth using a round brush. He doesn’t yank on customers' hair! He’s the most gentle person in the world! There is no pain involved. It’s one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard so I couldn’t refrain from commenting. I can say that if a customer did feel pain and told Corey, he would be even more gentle! Although, I don’t know how that would even be possible! He is extremely experienced, ridiculously talented, and makes you look and feel beautiful! He is by far the best hair stylist I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot!Services: Blowouts

I had appointment with Audrey, I explained her everything even I showed her a picture to see what exactly I want. I wanted blond high contrast balayage-ambre , she said my hair is dark and can not do it exactly !!!! but she can do something CLOSE , I showed her my previous blond hair that I had and she said yes she can do it …. I ended up with brown-orange highlight hair…. I have a very important trip ahead of me and I had made this appointment a month ago and I had decided based on the reviews that apparently the reviews can't always be true, but unfortunately it was very, very far from what I expected and now I can't believe where to find a hair salon in such a short distance with this ridiculous hair color.

I went there on May 7th, the overall service was great, the receptionist was really awesome, she moved stuff around to accommodate the time that worked best for me. Corey styled my hair, while it was ok overall, he yanked my hair 7-8 times while blowdrying, I felt a very strong pull, each time. When I told him it hurts and asked him to stop yanking my hair, he said sorry and didn't know it's been yanked that many times. I don't know if I believe him, he said he's been styling hair for 20 years and been working at Avanti for 2 years, if he has that much experience, then how come he didn't know he's yanking the hair? Although I gave him a decent tip (now that I'm thinking back on it, I really don't think he deserved it and I wish I could take it back) I had terrible headache the rest of the evening from hair yanking. I wish he'd do better next time and not yank other people's hair as it's extremely disappointing and frustrating.Services: Bridal services

If you're looking for a hairdresser who truly cares about their clients and goes above and beyond to ensure their satisfaction, look no further than Jonathan. I have curly hair and it can be particularly hard to find someone that can cut curly hair well, and he did a phenomenal job. He's simply the best!

Had quite an unprofessional experience at Avanti last week. I’ve been coming here for a couple years, but I will likely not return.Scheduled an appointment over the phone for a color correction (due to my grays not being fully covered by the hair stylist in a prior session). I specifically asked if I would be charged for it and I was told there’d be no charge since it was a correction. When I arrived, the hair stylist immediately proceeded to tell me it’s been more than 2 weeks so I will be charged as a new root touch-up. Now, I don’t mind paying for a new root touch-up, but I want to do it on my time and would prefer being informed that was the case in advance (especially since I had asked). Instead, I was explicitly told I wouldn’t be charged & no-one had bothered to call and inform me that this was not the case until I was in the hair stylist’s chair.Both the incorrect color and the wrong / lack of communication about the correction cost was their fault — and when I expressed my frustration about this situation — I got a sarcastic tone and unprofessional attitude to boot from the front desk person (Henry). Overall, I was made to feel like it was my problem for scheduling the correction late. Separately, I got an unsatisfactory root touch up 2-3 appointments prior as well where the grays were still visible. I gave things a pass that time thinking it was a one-off. I’m investing my money and time (in this case, twice by coming back for a correction) expecting both quality and professionalism, and I wish that was respected and my time was seen as valuable.I do appreciate that the owner, Betty, called me 2 days later to say that this was a misunderstanding and I could come in to get the correction free of charge this week. However, I was out-of-state on vacation this week and also generally apprehensive due to this experience (especially going back to the same hair stylist for a third time). Poor service for a recurring client.

So so disappointed with my experience with Avanti :(. I booked a time with Liv to color my hair brown. The color lasted max a month and has now faded back to blonde. So not worth the $160 I paid. With every wash my hair just gets lighter and it does not look good at all. I’m sure there are good stylists at the salon but the one I had was not it.Service: Hairstyling

Tara is such an AMAZING hairstylist. I have been going to her for about 15 years now and she has always given me such exceptional service that no other hairstylist has been able to do. She always knows exactly what I want, knows how to do all the latest hair trends, and is a wizard when it comes to color and cuts. She also gives great and honest product recommendations/hair advice that have helped my hair maintain its strength. Thank goodness I was able to track down Jonathan Demar who moved to this salon from Mario Russo. I'm pretty particular about my color (blonde) and he really gets it without me having to explain, although if I wanted to he would be ready to listen. He is so detailed and really cares about the result...which is a bright fresh sexy glossy color that pops in all the right places. Jonathan is very accommodating and a gem of a person really. The salon is beautiful and a wonderful experience overall.

I just want to thank Liv and Corey for doing an amazing job with my hair. After my original stylist left for California, finding a new one gave me anxiety as my hair is very important to me. I came to Liv with overgrown roots with balayage and she did a great job with color matching and having the new color flow flawlessly with the colors I already had. Corey did exactly what I asked for, long layers without making my hair look too choppy.Avanti is very spacious and clean. I was a little hesitant since I had to see two stylists for my cut and color but I am very content with the work they have done. I will definitely be back.
